Order status and Jeep chat

I had a 9/1 date ( originally July 14th) with XR and the build should be done as of today so yes some orders are flowing but no logic in the world will account for how they proceed to the build and beyond. I was 20+ days in D1.

New here. I have an XR order from June 15th. No movement since then. Has been sitting in "D" status for almost five months with no scheduled build date. Nobody has any updates about anything. I'm at a loss. Glad I found this forum though, at least I learned it's not just me.

Someone I believe over on the wrangler forums posted something about how orders work. I don't remember if it was stated as fact or conjecture.

They noted that dealerships have certain 'order allocations' per month. Larger dealers have more. They said something about how a round of orders will be produced based on the dealer's allocations and if there is more room for production during that month's run, they'll start going into the ones that have been waiting but haven't been produced due to the ordering dealer not having enough allocations for production for that month.

Thus if a dealer has 3 allocations and 3 orders in a month, those are likely to move. If they get 8 orders in a month, 5 of them are going to be waiting longer.

Not sure how much truth there is to that, but just wanted to relay it.

It would certainly explain the seemingly random way in which orders move...

Thx for that explanation. Adds some clarity if that is in fact the case. I ordered mine from a large dealership but I would have no idea what their allocation is.

Final inspection purgatory for over a month now. Gettn frustrating. Delivery date passed and got switched to tbd

Probably already done just sitting in a parking lot awaiting shipping on a train. What does the dealership say? Did you get your build sheet yet?

Been seeing quite a few 392 build sheets show up on crypto in the last several weeks, but hardly any window stickers. Don’t know if it’s Jeep’s flaky data, or if they are getting built and parked on a lot waiting on the tire carrier, or some other obscure part. 🤷‍♂️

Hi jd392, I'm in D1 for 93 days as of today.....I agree no rhyme or reason on how they choose orders mine was in on June 2nd. Unfortunately was at dealer today and there seems to a lot of delays with the High Performance builds.

Good Luck on getting yours 🤞

The wait time is amazing. This was after I ordered in Feb and had the XR halt, which moved me to a '23.

Hi Mrenkil - I wonder if that could be contributing to the slow production, making sure the '22's that were shifted to '23 are built first. It would be interesting to know how many of those early builds were carryovers, you would hope they would build those prior to the new '23 orders (I'm a '23 order).

good luck with your order

Sixfour: I think the key here is the dealership. I have been pounding on my guy since this started and it will not stop until I have the car in my possession. The dealership has to have your current code status which should say why you're hanging in D1 so long. The car should be built by now and it might be done, who knows. Good luck and I hope your logjam breaks soon.

So you think "pounding" on your guy at the dealership has led to your Jeep getting built faster?

I think it has gotten me more timely information. All the websites we visit to get updates tend to lag behind the actual action being performed so the dealership has better updates and can contact Jeep for further investigations. I too was hung up in the "D" status for quite some time and when I had him call Jeep things started to move. My final example is the websites shows my car still waiting to be shipped in KZ but he shows the car is actually almost here.

Interesting. I haven't had to "pound" on my dealer, I just shoot him a text and he responds in kind.

Same with me, I actually gave my salesman a couple hundred dollars in gift cards to go get lunch a couple of different times after about the four month period when I knew it was getting close. To me it was worth it. Probably wasn’t necessary. But I can tell you nobody at the dealership ever seemed aggravated to see me when I walked in to see how my Jeep was moving along, especially my salesman. In fact, It was the opposite, they always greeted me by name. My big worry was it getting sold out from under me once it arrived. I figured if I had skin in the game with my salesman he wouldn’t let that happen. But that’s just me. I had a great experience in Las Vegas at Jeep Only. He even sent me a picture of it still on the trailer about to get unloaded at the dealership. Maybe it’s because of what I did, or maybe it would have happened that way no matter what I did! To me, it was worth it! Funnest vehicle I’ve ever driven! FYI, I ordered November 17 of 2021 and picked it up June 6, 2022.Lol

More flies with honey, and all that.

Hearing someone say they “pounded” on their guy at their dealer and will continue to do so until they have their Jeep just makes me believe they are an absolutely miserable customer. I feel bad for whomever is having to deal with him.
