I have seen some who leave it so I’m guessing there is a reason?

Thanks yeah I definitely want to remove the reinforcement and have it clean.I am in the middle of installing a Rebel Offroad Bak-Pax now. My original plan was to mount it on top of the tailgate reinforcement brackets. Well the Rebel Offroad plate is too large to fit where the spare tire carrier sits. I could have used spacers but then it would sit about 1/2" away from the tailgate. I am removing the reinforcement brackets now. It looks like I need to replace the hinge bolts as then are now about 15-20mm too long.
If the Artec plate is the same shape as the spare tire carrier it should fit. Looks like it does. Probably easier than removing the reinforcement bracket. Depends on if you want a clean tailgate or the Mopar black brackets on the back.
Great thank you! So per the previous reply before yours did all of the bolts still work once the bracket was removed? This may or may not be permanent as I like the look (I think) but may have spare anxietyNo issues at all removing the XR tailgate reinforcement and tire carrier. My hinges were painted. This is the only picture I have, it you can see it was all good once removed. In this picture I have painters tape covering the body holes for the tire bumpers and bracket holes. This was how I brought it in for the PPF.

Spare anxiety is real. My Challenger, without factory spare, had 2 flats.
Half door season is not here yet!I
I carry a plug kit (I always have in all of my vehicles and have used it in the past) I was also thinking of adding a glue tread patch kit.Spare anxiety is real. My Challenger, without factory spare, had 2 flats.

Cool thank you.I don’t recall having any issues with the bolts being too long. I know I didn’t buy new ones.
If I remember right, I had my inner tailgate trim off at the same time to remove the camera/3rd brake wiring. The bolts thread into bosses that were molded into the tailgate structure, and they were threaded all the way through and open ended.
No issue with handling the extra length. Once I got the 392 back from PPF, I installed the Teraflex Alpha hinge/spare setup, and once again reused those hinge bolts.
Where did you get the door cart?View attachment 32122Half doors are going on for the summer this weekend and also thinking of finally installing the Artec spare delete I have had for about 6 months and was looking for feedback from anyone who has done this with the XR and what was under the tailgate reinforcement? It was recommended by a few other membersWhere did you get the door cart?
If you are mounting something flat, like a tailgate table to the inside of the tailgate, then the hinge bolts will be too long. I got some M10x1.5x40mm black oxide bolts, they fit without protruding too far into the back of the tailgate table.Great thank you! I was wrong. The 8x M8 bolts that come with the oversize tire bracket fit fine. I didn't realize the inner bracing in the tailgate is not straight. In the middle of the tailgate there is plenty of room for the longer bolts. But, closer to the hinge, the bracing is curved forward, leaving less room. Here is a picture of the 40mm M10 bolt, there is only about 3mm of clearance. The 8x M8 bolts are too long for that too. Tomorrow I will measure those and head back to the hardware store and get those.
That's what I have always done, made a mount to put the Spare 40" tire in the bed of my LJ standing up vertically behind the drivers seat and while departure angle was awesome the extra weight was noticeable on trails like Fordyce and the Rubicon. I am going to run 37's on my 392 but first thing I did when I brought her home last month was ditch the spare and stock bumper (garbage) and installed the Rebel Bak Pax. Also have the ARB patch kit and a Gluetread kit for sidewall repair.I carry a plug kit (I always have in all of my vehicles and have used it in the past) I was also thinking of adding a glue tread patch kit.

Full-Size Sidewall Kit
The GlueTread Full-Size Kit contains everything you need for an off-road sidewall repair. This kit is similar to the 4x4 Kit except it doesn't contain the accelerator spray. We've improved our rubber formula, which allows the adhesive to cure more quickly without the accelerator. Additionally...www.gluetread.com
Thanks and yea I don’t plan on selling the carrier however if I ever decide to put a spare back on would probably go with aftermarket carrier. I also have a Tuffy tailgate lock box I am going to install soon as well but since it goes over the OEM cover I should be fine I think.I was wrong.
