I'm not an audiophile anymore due to being abusive to my ears for too long. But, I thought I would upgrade the front dash speakers to Crutchfield's Kicker 3.5" speaker. Plug and play. 5 minutes per side. I thinking about swapping rollbar speakers for 6.5" Kickers. See how the dash ones work for my hearing inaccuracies first.

Nice please report back on sound quality

That looks great. I broke down and ordered the AAL cargo shelf after I installed my Goose Gear plate and then didn't have a good solution for my power station.
Thanks. I was on the fence with AAL, (great looking product) but @WhiteBronze392 showed off his GR unit. So for my needs, this fit the bill. I just need a shelf to hold lighter items while driving, with luggage, cooler, tools, extraction gear underneath.

I get it and I was all set on the Rockhatd4x4 shelf but decided I like how AAL does business.

I did the Terra Acoustics up front that someone sold me here on the forum used and the Trail Seven kit for the roll bar. Made a huge difference. I did the same thing as you and added some batting stuffed behind the speakers. I put my ear to the knee speakers and they are pretty lame however I am not sure I am up to taking the entire dash apart.
Not an audiophile these days either but enjoy half way decent sound.

I did the Terra Acoustics up front, marginally better. Did you add the Trail 7 after the Terra? Wondering if you could quantify the Trail 7 improvement alone?

Yes about 2 weeks later I did the Trail 7. They aren't going to blow you away but it is a nice improvement. On an improvement scale of 1-10, I would say a 6 or 7.
I know the real difference would come changing the amplifier but I have no interest in going that far with something that is mostly enjoyed in the background. At some point I may do the knee speakers just because they bother me now that I understand their lack of fidelity.

Remember the frequencies being sent to the front knee speakers is very limited. Just a mid-range signal. Bass is cut by factory amp, as is upper frequencies. If you took signal from factory headunit, before factory amp using PAC AP4-CH41 and added an aftermarket amp, with dsp processing to control frequency range and eq sent to speaker... then upgrading speaker would make a difference. However, given the small enclosure size, even if using an adapter and installing a 6.5" driver...you won't get much bass. Some are finding good result by upgrading to a better quality, same size driver, to handle added power while maintaining factory port.
It's like every modification, you change one thing and .......

Thank you for the info. So far I am enjoying the combination of updates I have done but it would "sound" like it won't be much of an upgrade to change the knee speakers.

Installed the rollbar 6 5" speakers and tweeters. Base is not an issue for my ears, it's the higher tones that are gone. Easy and fun mod that's cheaper that 60's! Lol

Also used my ECRI for the first time. Change low air settings, fogs on with high beam, and hopefully hood alarm. Easy peasy.
