According to Clayton’s website new shocks are not needed.@Ted392 @89138 @@WhiteBronze392 @Bobo57 are you guys saying that if I install the Clayton Performance Coils, I’ll also need new shocks? I was thinking about running the stock XR shocks with these coils.
For me shocks are just a want, not sure a need with this mod.According to Clayton’s website new shocks are not needed.
“No need for replacing any shocks or control arms, as this kit is not intended to lift the vehicle, but provide just a small height increase up front in order to help remove some of that factory rake.”
That statement does not specifically say XR Though.
I intend to go with the 2”-3” version when the time comes. For me shocks are just a want, not sure a need with this mod.
As others have chimed in, not really needed. More of a want. The oem shocks are Mopar and I wanted 2.5 Fox.@Ted392 @89138 @@WhiteBronze392 @Bobo57 are you guys saying that if I install the Clayton Performance Coils, I’ll also need new shocks? How are you liking the 2.5 IFP shocks? Any regrets about not getting the 2.5 DSC shocks? Not very much information about these particular shocks on the interwebs so hoping you have some feedback both good or bad you could share. At $250 each these are really appealing if they can provide a noticeable improvement over the stockers.Just got these in. Will install in mid October after ppf.View attachment 7137
I like them so far. Price was attractive ($100 off on pre-release), longer stroke, 2.5" and not Mopar OEM shocks that may or may not hold up. As the summer progresses, I'll have more of an opinion. "Installed the Redline hood strut lift kit. Nice setup. The cutting is unfortunate but required. That hood is heavy and the prop rod gets hot so this kit helped me a lot."So I thought I would start a mod thread for my 2022 392XR Sting Gray, aka Zippy.

I have done a few small and simple mods to date since it arrive in mid Aug.
Installed the Redline hood strut lift kit. Nice setup. The cutting is unfortunate but required. That hood is heavy and the prop rod gets hot so this kit helped me a lot.

Mopar/Jeep tailgate table. Very useful for all sorts of reasons, mostly food!

Mopar longer lower front LCA's.
Fox adjustable ATS steering stabilizer. Another easy install. Mind the carriage bolt change (6510774AA)

Weather Tech mud flaps, all 4. Mostly for protection against self inflicted rock wounds.
Bullet-point mounts, both, for phone and Go-pro. I reused the tray liner by drilling a hole at each to slip over the mount. Added some extra 3m tape to secure ends down.

They seem like a solid option for those of us not wanting to spend $2,500 +/- on a set of shocks. I have already ordered the Clayton coil springs and want to do the shocks while I am under there. Going with the Fox ATS that you and many others here and the JL forum seem to love. Thanks for the feedback.I like them so far. This baffles me that you didn't have to cut anything. I haven't heard of anyone else that has put these on a 392 that didn't have to do some trimming."Installed the Redline hood strut lift kit. THIS BAFFLES ME, I HAVE INSTALLED THREE OF THESE AND NEVER HAD TO CUT ANYTHING??
I have been around Jeeps and forums for a long time and gotta tell you that ppf is not something I recognize so don't expect many people to comment on that ?????
For those of you adding the Clayton coils, what length shocks are you going with? I’m looking to do this mod and would like to also add the 2.5 performance elite fox shocks, jut not sure if I need the 2-3” lift shocks or she 0-1.5”. Leaning towards the 2.5”
If you unstall them upside down, then I think no trimming. But they may wear out sooner/leak. According to Redline...This baffles me that you didn't have to cut anything. I haven't heard of anyone else that has put these on a 392 that didn't have to do some trimming.![]()
Thanks all, I ordered the 2-3” fox 2.5s from Accutune. Seems like Clayton typically does a Memorial Day sale so I’ll plan to order the coils then.I also have the Clayton coils with Fox 2.5 DSC shocks and went with the 2” to 3” lift versions.
Looks much better than white onesTook the doors off and placed the half doors on. I really like the half doors for cruising around. Now I can get them ppf'd. View attachment 21699

Received my Clayton coils this week, for those of you who have them, mine say 2.5” JL/JK for front and 1.5” JL for rear, nothing specific to 392. Can you confirm yours were the same?I also have the Clayton coils with Fox 2.5 DSC shocks and went with the 2” to 3” lift versions.
I don't recall what the boxes stated, I ordered the 392 coils. I do know only the rears springs are stamped Left and Right.Received my Clayton coils this week, for those of you who have them, mine say 2.5” JL/JK for front and 1.5” JL for rear, nothing specific to 392.
