Rubicon 20th Anniversary Edition Discussion

The whole SOT thing was odd. As I said, I was looking at the order interface as I was working with my dealer. There was the ‘top’ section of the banks that had the hard top/soft top options, but not the SOT. The next section below that had all the ‘Mopar add on stuff‘ like mats, top liner, etc. Embedded in those was the SOT option.

I think there was a lot of confusion there. Dealers probably looking at the ‘top option’ section of the banks and not seeing SOT and telling people it wasn’t an option. Hind sight’s 20/20 but I wish I would have taken some pics of the banks.
I was at work on the day that the order banks opened and didn’t have the luxury of being at the dealership.

All of my order process was done over the phone and I was at the mercy of a salesman that knows Jeeps, but wasn’t intimately familiar with the intricacies of the Stellantis ordering process.

Fortunately, the sales manager seemed to be relatively on top of things, although parts of the process seemed to be confusing for everyone.

I was lucky enough to have a work day where I could step out for a bit to go to the dealership. I had called the day before and we agreed to have me come in and do things in person.

The guys I was working with had things printed out and ready to go, but we were all equally a bit confused (see the stuff earlier in the thread bout the 20A package not showing up with the price on the poc).

Totally a convoluted process. I have a ‘21, 392 XR, so I wasn’t too worried about getting a 20A, but definitely a not-ready-for-primetime ordering system to say the least. I at least had the good fortune of working with a reputable dealer that was seemingly doing everything they could to get me the vehicle and doing so at MSRP.
It is really amazing how unprepared everyone was for the launch of a Halo product like the 20A. Congrats to everyone who has one on order. Hopefully these get built quickly. I'm picking my 392 up Monday after a 9-month wait, but it seems like they are rolling out quicker now.

Who is going to be the first with a "392 27T" license plate?
Too "insider" for me. I have "20 AE" reserved for mine. But I am pretty fond of my current plate.

So anybody have any experience with matte PPF? I really wish they offered GCM on this, but instead I got Sting Gray. I'm wondering what a matte ppf would look like on that. I know it won't look like the concept, but I'm trying to get as close as possible. Would a matte vinyl gray close to GCM be better?

I THINK this is a SG gladiator. I think it looks pretty good.

About how long would PPF last? I read something about it lifting up on the edges after a few years and looking like crap.

Has anyone's 20a order moved from "Confirmed" to "Scheduled" yet? Wondering when we'll start to see some movement. In other words... "Are we there yet?"

Mine is still in “C” - Wondering the same as I saw a few members say theirs went to “D” a week or so ago which I find hard to believe.

D status is what the dealer sees when it is a Firm Schedule (VIN Assigned) order. It is not actually scheduled with a build date or an ETA, per se. I think what you're referring to is "D1" status, which actually has a build date scheduled. I don't know of anyone who has reached that status here, but I'm curious as well. Mine is at "D" status according to the POC from the dealer that I received. The online tracker may still show "C," but there really is no appreciable difference to my knowledge.

You would know you are plain D status if the online tracker shows your VIN I would assume?

It’ll hold up fine as long as the installer prepped everything right. In my experience, ppf is something you definitely get what you pay for

Could Not Agree with this more….A good shop will be expensive but worth every penny in the long run - They are hard to find and you must visit each shop and see their shop along with their in house work at the time you visit - That’s what I did on a previous Jeep and it was well worth the time, effort and extra money for the Professional Outfit….Many say they can do it - Few have the Proper Shop and personnel to do it RIGHT! I am going with Ceramic Coating for now on my 20A simply because I do not want them dismantling my new 392 which is pretty much required to PPF these vehicles properly.

That's good to know. I have a local guy who can do the ceramic for me. I'd rather have a professional do it than me doing it myself. I don't have any local places that can do the ppf. Maybe I'll ceramic it for now and look into ppf down the road. Thanks!

If you ceramic it now the guy who does the ppf down the road will have to get that ceramic off for the ppf to adhere and that’s done through polishing it back off. Aka that’s work and money… Just food for thought.

Is that the case even if it's enough years down the road that it's past the expected life of the ceramic coating and it hasn't been redone (let's say 5 or 8 years or so)?

Rule of thumb ceramic helps keep it clean, ppf protects from rocks / scratches. If you intend to wheel it ceramic won’t do anything for you.

I had planned to not wheel it for a few years, but I will eventually. So that lines up with my plan (ceramic now, ppf later).

100% Agreed

Same 👍
