Rubicon 20th Anniversary Edition Discussion

After placing an order... If you/a customer receives a VON (not to be confused with the VIN) for the 20A, is it a good bet you'll get the Jeep (Or rather, it'll be built & sent to your dealership... for you)? I'm getting mixed signals from my dealership. Comments like, "Keep your Fingers Crossed", "We'll know more once it's in D1 status", etc... Feelings like something may happen and this could all fall apart.

I'm entering my VON here, https://www.jeep.com/trackyourorder.html#/landing but there's currently no information available.
If I recall correctly, my last Jeep populated in this system as soon as I got my VON. My name and address are on the POC.

Has anyone received a, "Congratulations" from Jeep's auto-generating email system? I received an email like that last go-around.

Thanks in Advance,
~justin
Also FWIW, my dealer mentioned that the order tracking tool usually updates overnight (but not on Sundays). Mine has not shown up yet.... hoping tomorrow.

Doesn't the AEV Level II come with the AEV rear bumper/tire carrier? Wonder how they'll handle that compressor?

Yes, it does. It wouldn't really work with that. Especially with the option fuel caddy. The AEV tire carrier removes the stock stuff in its entirety, and replaces it with a small piece that ties into the bolts on the left side. Then there is a turnbuckle that attaches to the tire carrier itself. I think AEV has the instructions for installation on their website. Check them out and you'll see there's not really a way to mount a compressor anywhere.

That's why I think, even if the air compressor was in the tire carrier on the auto show examples, that it is probably not the final execution.

I had the JK version with the fuel carrier... zero place in that to make room for a compressor... Interested to learn how they are doing it.

I don't see them mounting the compressor outside of the vehicle. That is a warranty claim waiting to happen and manufacturers don't like those.

well... technically your engine is a self powered air pump..... I've seen and had many ARB pumps that lived either outside or in a semi-exposed underhood position. Sealed motors are common and as long as it does not ingest water, it'll be fine, I'd think.

Somewhere I found an dual ARB mounting solution that mounted under the Jeep tucked up near the trans crossmember. That may be my go to if the AEV bumper precluded the factory setup or if the performance sucks. I'd probably route the intake up to the airbox though.

Apparently the compressor in the 20A is built into the tire carrier.

Yeah, Scott Blum mentioned it on a FB group... but he didn't confirm whether that was a quick and dirty solution for the auto show vehicles, or if ti was the final production location. He didn't speak to what they would do with the 20A Level II package either, since there is really no place to put an air compressor in the tire carrier with AEV's setup...

I, too, have had an ARB Twin outside the vehicle. But it wasn't an OE-solution... I suppose inside the tire carrier would be pretty well protected against all but the most intense storms / spray situations...

I'd never mount one under the vehicle or under water fording depth, even if relocating the intake.

I went with Innovative AT under seat mount w integrated blue tooth module. Works great and has convenient access to all Wheels for simultaneous airing. Took approx 5 Minutes to air from 10psi to 35 (dual ARB compressor). Mounted underneath front passenger seat. Would recommend!
Thank you for sharing. This is also a great solution for onboard air.

There’s a number of options to mount the compressor outside of the cabin. Under hood, under chassis, body mount, etc.

I have a York mini mounted in engine compartment in a JK. Flawless thus far (15 years later still going strong). I do like the ARB unit, but largely due in part to the quick disconnect and 4 tire system. In retrospect I could have been using a similar hose configuration with the York but it never occurred to me.
Not a ton of room for an ARB in 392 so am good with under seat location.

@dblplay1212

Did you (or for anyone else reading this who is going for the AEV upfit) see my post earlier in the thread about the AEV forms? I know you picked the AEV level II option but didn't know if your dealer knew to get the forms in. We didn't do it right away, but I figured it out on Saturday from someone on fb, called my dealer, and they got the forms in for me.

We have no idea if AEV builds are selected based on the actual order code or the forms, but I'm guessing even if it's just the option group we picked when the order went it, they'll probably just bypass an order that also doesn't have the forms turned in.

It's three forms, all filled out by your dealer, and then sent to VOIMTeam with Stellantis and JeepOrders with AEV.
My dealer has no clue either. Terrible process all around.

I kind of thought/hoped it would, but my VON is still not showing in the order tracker this morning....

I think I remember when I ordered mine back in August that it took a few days for something to come up. In fact I'm pretty sure nothing came up for the first few days with my VON.

Think of it this way. There are about 2500 jeep dealerships in the country (at least that's what Google says). I'm not sure if the 4000 was a mix or even split of 2000 392 and 2000 4xes. If it was an even split, assuming most dealers got two allocations, then I guess 392s could have run out so to speak, especially since 2500 > 2000. However, I think if you got your order in relatively quickly and you have a VON you should be good to go.

I know there was that thing going around that they sold out in 7 or 10 minutes. Well, things went down then, but that's because of the pricing snafu. I'm not sure when banks actually went down (or if they even have yet if a dealer still has one of their allocations left).

A VIN is basically the ticket to 'You're jeep should be built', but I think having a VON in this situation is a pretty good sign. Jeep obviously has a way to take the option away on dealer order bank screens, so I'd hope they would do that when total designated allocations run out (thus preventing someone from getting a 20A VON).

I'll be pissed if I don't get mine. I had a VON in my hand at 1:12 EST (before things apparently even went down due to the price correction), and if it makes you feel any better, nothing is coming up for me either on trackers.

Also, this is, we're to assume, a new ordering experience for most if not all dealers, so they don't entirely know for sure either. They don't want to make promises to you they don't know 100% for sure they can keep so they have to be conservative on it. They might say something similar to joe blow who walks in off the street and orders a regular 6 banger sahara or something. No guarantees until it gets a VIN and goes to D status. Even then it's not a guarantee technically, but for all intents and purposes it is.

I'm not sure any of this applies to the AEV II though. That seems to be a separate cluster altogether.
In regards to "

- Yes that SHOULD be the case but isn't always, or isn't always fast enough. We sometimes have to kind of know, or ask, around the water-cooler or call our reps. For example at this moment it would APPEAR that I can still order a 20th Anniversary 392 or 4xe . . . but I know that we do not actually have that allocation available to us any longer.

Mine still isn't showing up this morning. There is a guy on the JL forums that says he already has a VIN. I hope they didn't "overbook", and I didn't really get an allocation.

Mine is not showing either.... I just pestered my dealer about it.

Buddy just ordered one Monday, little dealership in Florida. he was there 2nd and last one. they told him
2 weeks before they know if it was accepted. and 10 months before delivery. $104000.00 dual door loaded.
he is hoping.

does anyone know if you can track your shipment of your Jeep.
trying to figure out a flight, hate to book day before.

That's going to be a real crap shoot. I thought we were tracking daily and mine was sitting in a rail yard. Next thing we know its at the dealer.

Heard back from the dealer... It seems despite having a Printed Order Confirmation, Jeep is not going to honor the deal and I will not be getting a 20a?

Is that right @JeepCares ? What's the address for legal service?

Edit: My order is timestamped 1:06 eastern
