Rubicon 20th Anniversary Edition Discussion

People that put RDOs on their handguns after their local shooting range is closed for the evening?
That’s valid.
have you seen the indoor laser targeting systems?
I bought one. Kind of like it.

Well, I guess all 4 then. I can’t keep up.
Since the thread went sideways, I thought I’d help.

But seriously, they all have 392’s. WTH is there to be upset about?
Who likes/dislikes the 20A design?

First World Problems. 😜
The guy who got his AEV build delivered 2 weeks ago thinks the 20A sucks and wants to let you know his, which was apparently the 20A prototype, is better. That's where this went sideways. If he'd just said it once as a joke, whatever. But it's been over and over across this board and fb in every 20A thread on the internet. It was only a matter of time before someone asked him to chill.

That took way too much editing to make it coherent so it's bed time for me. Y'all have a good night.

For anyone who was going for the aev unfitting, someone posted this on the fb group.

My dealer is looking into it. Probably too late at this point, but worth a shot.

So... I got a call this morning from my dealer. I need to come in to review my order. He says the reason Jeep pulled the 20a from the order page was to correct a pricing issue.

Sure enough, on my Printed Order Confirmation, the 20a package shows as $0

Bait and switch

Good "investment" - no. You want a good investment, buy Berkshire Hathaway shares. It's a vehicle and a depreciating asset. In 30 years - maybe, but those Berkshire shares are almost guaranteed.
You invest in stocks and I’ll invest in stocks, real estate, and cars and at the end of it all… you may have more money, but I’ll have experiences and stories of a life well-lived. To each his own.

Ok that all makes sense now. We figured the price was wrong when my order went in but knew it had the 20A package on my poc (listed as $0 when we knew it was supposed to be 8 or 9k). Dealer said he’d send me an updated invoice when it corrected and when we find out about aev.

So I’m guessing 20A isn’t sold out then, but maybe it is *shrug*.

Level II was sold out Friday by 2:40pm EST. Probably before that (some reports say it was sold out in 7 to 10 minutes after order banks opened), but that's when I got a message from a friend at AEV telling me the package had sold out.

If your order wasn't in before then, there's no shot at ordering one now and actually having it confirmed - as that message says, those orders are first come, first served. I'd imagine there are more than 150 orders (probably double or triple that, at least) in the system for them, and a lot of people that thought they had an order in will be finding out from Jeep Wave that they weren't quick enough. High demand and low supply create fun technology challenges that frustrate everyone involved.

Next best hope is getting one someone backs out on or is trying to flip. Surely to be some markup on those, though.

The strange thing is there was an option to pick (order group YHC) and actual forms to be submitted by dealer to AEV. I wonder if they count putting in an order with the option group chosen, the forms, or both for who gets them. The forms were in the Daily news and hot info that dealers get. Manager said his daily news info was 13 pages long, but he found the forms in there and got them in for me.

I had my order in with the YHC option at 1:12 EST, but my dealer didn’t get the forms in until this AM.

Here is the order group on my poc:

Also, this was posted on fb group about the 20A. I think the person who posted it works at a dealership.

My guess is that they are going to take the first 75 4Xe 20A orders, and the first 75 392 20A orders that were submitted with the option code (YHC).

Some insight on the AEV JL370 order process, prior to Level II:
I ordered my 392XR on 8/23/22 and I did not actually pick my AEV build options with my AEV dealer and submit them to AEV until I was in D1 status, about 3 months later.

So, based on that, my working assumption would be that the AEV build form could be allowed to lag behind the actual Jeep order, and the order would still be accepted IF you were one of the first 75 to put your order in for either engine option.

Maybe it's a different process for the Level II. Since this is the first time a lot of dealers will be submitting things to AEV, I think Jeep would probably recognize the fact that the dealer knows how to place a factory order for a Jeep, but maybe not for the AEV Level II package. It wouldn't make sense to penalize customers that got their orders in first, but had a dealer that didn't understand the Level II ordering piece.

A couple of wrenches that might throw everything for a loop:
  • Dealer allocations. There's been varying reports of dealers being allocated between 1 and 3 of the 20A units, and other reports about allocations of the Level II package... I haven't paid much attention to these reports, because while I think it is entirely possible that Jeep may have put allocations on order the 20A packages, it would be really hard for them to allocate 150 units across over 2,400 Jeep dealerships in the United States alone. That's why I'm thinking that, as long as the dealer has allocation for a 20A order, that for Level II packages, it's first come, first served.
  • I have heard from a few friends that are sales people at dealerships, and showed me pictures of the forms, that the dealer is required to submit a few forms to AEV authorizing AEV to do an ACH draft from the dealer of one of two amounts (depending on 4Xe or 392 order). There are two forms related to this (one is a master agreement, the other is an ACH debit authorization). There's also a third form that is a 3rd party aftermarket conversion scheduling request form. I'm not sure if these forms have to be submitted at the time the order is placed, or not, but they are NOT forms related to the actual AEV build options (there's a different form for that which I think was posted to this thread like 10 pages before SHTF).

I'll reach out to a few folks and see if they are willing to confirm anything.
