Rubicon 20th Anniversary Edition Discussion

Speculation from armchair automotive engineers that think they know better than a company that has OE-collabs with two of the Big 3 gets old, that's what's with the attitude. I could have completely paid for my Jeep with the money I'd have if I had $10 for every person that comments about the lights and hoop blocking airflow.

The fact is... they don't even move the needle.

Ok... but who cares? Do you have a dog in that fight? Do you own AEV or something? Chill out. Nobody really cares if you agree with their "armchair" opinions or not, but attacking fellow forum members over something you probably don't know much more about is foolish and unnecessary. Unless you were actually involced in the AEV R&D, how can you speak to what was done or how it was done or what they determined? Just lighten up and remember... it's FRIDAY and you have a killer Jeep to play with this weekend!

Even without the collaboration in play, the resale on AEV upfits is typically stronger / higher than most other upfit Jeeps down the road. One of the AEV 112 stretched TJs just sold through Barrett Jackson for $27K and, if we are being honest, it was poorly marketed and BJ was probably the wrong place to sell it. When you look at BaT JK Wrangler sales, the AEV 5.7 and 6.4 HEMI-swapped conversions tend to be among the higher-priced Jeeps to sell on that site.

Literally discarded Level II from the conversation and went on to talk about AEV upfits on the secondary market versus other upfit Jeeps on the secondary market.

Agree to disagree. You’re talking apples and oranges… hemi swaps and stretched Jeeps are WAY different from the minor bolt ones that this “level II” is getting. Those jeeps would bring more money even without the AEV name on them. Also, the real question is are those AEV up fitted Jeeps actually bringing MORE than their original total price? I don’t think so. Especially not as long as AEV still exists and will still take my money to build my Jeep however I want it.

You compared those secondary market Jeeps back to the new Level II, then moved the goalposts.

You weren't correct in your response. Consider yourself kicked, dog.

Forgetting how long it might take for a VON to show up on the tracker (I can't believe here I am obsessing over the tracker already).

I wonder if it'll take a bit longer to show up for the 20As for some reason, especially after the few minor ordering snafus that seemed to happen today.

Also, I decided to not order half doors this time around. I mentioned to my dealer I would probably trade my 392 in to them. Yes, less money, but that tax break adds up to a lot here in PA. I asked them "Honestly, would you want the half doors". Manger response: "Nobody seems to really want them or order them, so I'd rather just take the Wrangler without them"...and so my decision was made to just keep my half doors in their cardboard boxes in my garage to use for the 20A since I kept the same color.

Mr. Broom... You need a beer... Or a girlfriend. Or both. :ROFLMAO:

I hope it goes quickly for you guys/gals. I would love to see pictures and videos of them out in the wild.

We do solemnly promise to provide many pictures as soon as we can. I really hope someone on this forum ends up with a 20A AEV build so we can see good pics of it. Wishful thinking, but maybe.

I would venture to say that I know quite a bit more about AEV than the average forum member. Helps that I have several friends within AEV that are involved in the R&D and share information with me when they are able to... Also helps that I actually drive one of their conversions.

Also helps that I've used their parts on 2 previous Jeeps.

You know what road OEMs use to test vehicles during R&D for things like airflow and overheating?

Loveland Pass here in my home state of Colorado. It's a defined grade at high altitude. Care to guess what road I've driven quite a lot in 2 different Jeeps outfitted with AEV bumpers and lights, and haven't even seen the needle move on coolant temp?

Do you think, if there was any airflow concern whatsoever, and aerodynamic testing hadn't been done and proven unproblematic that Jeep would have used the bumper on a factory-offered vehicle under factory warranty?

So you DO at least think you have a dog in the fight. Thanks. At least that explains your motivation. It still doesn't explain your lack of decorum in your execution.

None of the other stuff you said in that reply matters to me... and yes, I read and comprehended it all, you miserable condescending jerk.

I bid you a good day, Mr. Broom.

That’s what we did .Keeping half doors .Cheaper to paint down the road and will match better then factory paint

The half doors are really the only option I added from my 2022 XR. In retrospect, I kind of wished I had just ordered them with mine even though I may not have used them much. Now that it will be my wife's daily driver, I think we'll proably use them more during the seasons when I had it naked. Still has the open air feel and the windows can be put in a lot faster than reinstalling the full doors if the weather requires it mid summer.

I've made it no secret in my build thread on this forum that I have friends that work at AEV. Besides answering questions, when they're able, they don't do me any special favors (other than taking pics of my Jeep being built) and they don't pay me or otherwise sponsor or endorse me for choosing to use their parts, if that's what you're implying.

For a guy with a V-8 Jeep, you sure do whine like a guy with a Prius.

It's also super weird you're apparently stalking me outside of the boundaries of this forum.

Remember guys, we have amazing Jeeps/rigs, my 392 has finally shipped (Yay!). Life is good.

Sorry... I don't FOLLOW you, man. You're not that important... at least not to me. I didn't read your "build thread" because frankly, I don't care. But yeah, I'm the one whining. :ROFLMAO: The thread speaks for itself, man.

They're your "friends" but they "don't do you any special favors?" You need to find better friends. But then again, if you are anything like your online personality IRL, I suspect it's not that easy for you to make friends unless you're OVERpaying them for modding your Jeep. Sorry to hear that.

Good day, sir.

Please knock it off. This is a valuable forum for people who love their rare, expensive, powerful Jeeps. We have all done something right in life to get here. Be happy with what you have. If you need to continue this I suggest a DM.

Just providing factual, experience-based insight, since I actually own what the Level II is (minus grille and interior colors). 🤷‍♂️

Those of you ordering the Level II need not worry about the airflow concerns of armchair automotive engineers.

I’m a little confused on the discussion of AEV and the impact on the ‘factory warranty’. It says right on the AEV website that it may void certain aspects of the factory warranty. Does this apply to the 20A AEV since that is ordered right through Jeep? That would be kind of silly for Jeep to sell you a direct AEV conversion and not stand behind their product, but could also see them pointing to the fine print should something come up down the road on a converted vehicle. As usual with these disclaimers it’s as clear as mud.

This applies to AEV turnkey conversions and parts builds. It means: If you go to a dealer with one of those two vehicles (unless it is an AEV Jeep dealer), do not expect them to replace AEV installed gearing, a blown Bilstein 5100 or 8100 shock, a broken AEV coil spring, or bent AEV wheel, etc. If you go to an actual AEV upfit Jeep dealer, they take care of you under warranty.

For Level II owners, all Jeep dealers will cover the full build under the factory warranty.

I have a feeling there will also be a positive shift in things for current JL370 owners, since AEV parts are under lifetime warranty.

This is why I’ve been sitting on the side lines as an observer to this form for the past few month, darn shame..
