Problems with the 392 Rubicon

Cold start a Power Wagon the next time your at the dealer. Visit Charger & Challenger forums and you'll come across numerous post just like this one. The sound goes away once things warm up after about 90 seconds. If you still hear something after that, especially while driving at 70 mph, then you definitely have an issue. A Hemi in general is noisy but you should easily be able to tell when a sounds not normal.

Okay, had an automatic update message on the Jeep's uconnect last evening and I allowed it to be applied over air. Took about 30 minutes and the on screen notice said it would correct the reverse camera line issue (which I didn't have) and other issues associated with the vehicle's "system". I have a Taser and a Pedal Commander installed and it did not dawn on me that I probably should "un-marry" the Tazer and disconnect the PC before mashing the "INSTALL NOW" button on the Uconnect screen. So far so good I haven't noticed any performance issues or unusual things happening/expected things not happening. I will post up should any problems present themselves.

Took my Jeep to the dealership last week to have the Intermitent Starter Recall case opened up and had them address the squealling noise as well. I received the sme feedback... common cat noise on 392s. However, My 2012 GC 6.4 SRT never made such a noise (are the 6.4s different than the 392s ?). Also the noise coming from my Rubicon does not subside after a short period of time, It remains constant even after driving 70 or so miles like my trip to the dealership. It was making the noise when I pulled into the service area as it was when I first started it.

Im not buying into the argument that it is just "a known problem on random 6.4 vehicles". We have a 2019 srt charger next door and they do not have any noises like this, I am not seeing many other publish their videos with this.
In regards to progress, I received an update today that it has been moved to engineering and I have a case manager assigned.

This is a normal characteristic of the this engine. It's done that for years across multiple platforms and is well known by anyone familiar with a 392. It's the down pipe and cat expanding and is not a mechanic failure of any kind. Definitely not something to be concerned about especially going as far as wanting to sell it. If your dealer, or anyone else for that matter, is playing village idiot acting like they never heard that before then I would seriously find another dealer.

It needs to be corrected, however that needs to be done. How many on here have that noise, if you would, send me a video of yours making this noise.

I have the exact same noise on cold starts. Posted on it a while back. No resolution as of yet. Everyone just blows me off like I’m being picky. Not a huge deal, but I would like a fix.

I've now stated this 3 times so I won't continue stating it any more.

If you dont press the issue it wont ever get fixed, I spent 7 weeks without our CTSV due to a faulty pin crimp in the multipin plug on the steering module. If you just walk around and say welp thats just how it is, nothing happens.

This goes away after 90 seconds. You stated yours doesn't even after driving 70 miles so it's obviously not the same issue.

A Wrangler has zero sound deadening. You literally have nothing insulating sound what so ever. A Grand Cherokee not only utilizes a high amount of sound deadening, it also has active noise cancelling etc.

My wife has a 2021 Wide Body 392 Scat Pack. She makes the sound too.

Its exactly the same. Its just in a large showroom and I didn't lift my hood, climb underneath it, or focus on the sound.

I can make another video of it sitting in my driveway where you could clearly hear it but Im honestly not wasting any more of my time with this. You have been told what the issue is, hell you even climbed under your own Jeep and know where the sounds coming from lol, so no matter what I say or post you're going to continue acting like the world revolves around you and expect Jeep to correct a common known characteristic because you say they should.

Get off this forum and do some research on other vehicles with a 392. If you want to make it real easy, join the Rubicon 392 groups on FB where this has been discussed numerous times by owners and conversations held with assembly line employees and Jeep product planners that design them.

But I have a feeling that still won't make you happy.

Hey guys, this is about sharing information and opinions. Two different things. This group is clearly not a bunch of dummies. I appreciate the input and suggestion that this is normal, however I also feel that FCA needs to fix it as a long standing and well documented issue/complaint. I’ll do my part since I have been an executive in a Chrysler franchised dealership and managed dealer groups and business for many years. I’ll share my concerns and see where it goes.

I have this problem - have had my 392 for ~48 hours and CarPlay has disconnected 5 times. I've tried 2 different cables and 2 different USB ports. It might be a coincidence, but I noticed each time it happened I was in a very bad cell reception area and the music started cutting out shortly before the disconnect. For the life of me, I can't figure out why that would matter, but 5/5 so far...so just noting the pattern.

Same issue.. I notice that it occurs more often when I’m listening to SiriusXM via phone when it disconnects. I contacted dealership and they told me to drop it off so they could reset stereo.. For some reason they said they’d need to keep vehicle.

I had a Challenger Scat Pack Shaker 392 and mine never did that.
I traded it in on this(392), or I would make a video.

I'd swear the issue with the Uconnect 4C 8.4 is STILL the same one since it's introduction that STILL hasn't been resolved: same symptoms as my '18 - lines randomly disappear, screen will just randomly "black out," and every now and then, it would just freeze and then reboot after a few moments. Can't tell you how many firmware flashes and updates the tech have tried, but it never resolved it.

Yesterday I got a message on u connect screen asking for a convenient time to schedule the download. I hit the screen buttons to set the time and the download was done. Next time I started the car there was a message that when I shut it down make sure there's a hour of downtime, then the download will be completed.
Since completion the back up lines have appeared every time and the satellite radio doesn't briefly go silent every minute or so. I don't know if there were any other bug fixes, but so far so good.

PS My dealer told me they can't fix the issue and that it would be done by end of Aug via satellite download. My suggestion is to not waste time with dealer on this issue.
