Problems with the 392 Rubicon

I am not yet ready to take it to a dealer for service with only 200 miles on the odometer. Let me know what the dealer says if you takes yours in for service.
I did take mine in and they seem to think that the noise is from inside the converter. New one is on order, but is on backorder. I do have an appointment with another dealer for second opinion.

Almost sounds like a defective serpentine belt. Sometimes you can see with a flashlight if it is glazed (shiny). It can also be slightly stretched, or had a little spill of antifreeze on it. Let us know what the dealer tells you.
That was my instinct but it's so obvious that is coming from the back of the block / transmission bell housing. It does get quieter once the cold start idle comes down and warms up. But on the next start warm or not it does it again. I havent driven it since the post but will later today.

Update on exhaust rattle. Went to dealer today and the tech loosened and repositioned the exhaust and retightened the clamps so far it seems to have helped. Jury is is still out though. Will drive it more and hope that's all it was

New update rattle is still there😖 I guess I'll wait and see if new cat dealer ordered works! 🤞

Dang. Sorry to hear that. Let us know if the new cat resolves the issue.

I have not been online since I received my 392. Obvious statement IT IS AMAZING. I promise to post a few things and photos. But on this thread, I just need to post how F'n stupid it is that the U-Connect has to tell me every time that to hang up a call I need to push the button on the wheel. Really??? No kidding. Do I need to hear that ad nauseam for the life of my ownership? I think that needs to be added to the flash update. Otherwise, no issues. I did purchase the dual door option and the half doors are going on soon, so hopefully no issues there. Cheers.

Just an update, I have service scheduled for Tuesday. Also from past experiences with other manufacturers its best to call in a case number. FCAs customer service number is 1-800-334-9200, this actually helps the dealer if they run into approval issues. (At least that was the case for our CTS-V)

Noise is still persistent on cold start up, reduces once engine idles out.

I'd swear the issue with the Uconnect 4C 8.4 is STILL the same one since it's introduction that STILL hasn't been resolved: same symptoms as my '18 - lines randomly disappear, screen will just randomly "black out," and every now and then, it would just freeze and then reboot after a few moments. Can't tell you how many firmware flashes and updates the tech have tried, but it never resolved it.

The half doors are legit. Super nice. I have one minor issue with them though. THey all fit pretty good. THe driver door pulls in a little too far when closed. they are super light (fiberglass) and if closed hard i have seen the door corner hit the body. I now have a chip about the size of a pencil tip where the top of the door come close to the body

It needs to be adjusted.

Agreed. There are many great vids on how to install and adjust the half doors. You will need torque wrench to do it right. Hinges loosen to align for a perfect fit. You only need to do it once. Take time to get it right and you will have a long term great install. I think the half doors provide the best "look" for the 392. That, along with the one touch top and removed side panels will be very cool.

Heres a link to the cold start noise, the more I think about it the more I believe it is exhaust related. As the engine warms the noise is gone. I also believe it is pre-catalytic converter.

Watch the vid below and tell me what you think, service appt on Tuesday 20 Jul 21

My problem so far with the 392 is the tears that fall from the teenagers that pull up next to me in their Mustangs that have standard engines with upgrades that do nothing...and they get smoked by a Wrangler! Jeep should come with extra tissues to hand out.

That is something I haven't heard before. Please let us know what is causing it. All I can guess is a small leak at the joints, or the pipes being slightly loose and rubbing something, as the pipes heat up and expand, they may get tight making the sound go away. Have you gone under when cold and shake the pipes to see if you can replicate the sound with engine off.

I have some news about my rattle noise. I couldn't take it anymore so crawled underneath and started checking for anything that could be making the sound and discovered a exhaust clamp that was tight on the outer pipe but not tight enough to clamp on the inner one, it was literally moving in and out when I pushed on it. I tightened it up and so far I haven't heard any rattling 😁 The clamp I found loose was the one in front if the x pipe. I highly recommend you check the clamps.

Inherently, most new editions have more problems than the following editions. I understand the 392 Rubicon is not considered completely new as the JL body style has been around since 2018, the engine since 2011, and the transmission since 2014 (at least the generation in the 392). However, the 392 Rubicon is a new trim/configuration and many modifications had to be done to fit all components well.

This thread is to help each other out and hopefully minimize serious issues.

So far, from reading other threads/forums:

The fuses not seated well in some 392s have caused some electrical problems.

Wires too close to heat sources have also caused electrical problems.

As the title says, what problems have we encountered?
I just posted another update about my 392 here:

The CarPlay problem persists and I will address it at my first service.

I took mine in for the starter recall with 2600mi on it. After its warm the starter spins and spins until it starts. Probably 5secs... Unfortunately this had nothing to do with the recall. I took it back and they went back and forth with Jeep engineers by email for three days. Test this, test that... They say it’s the fuel pump, but didn’t sound confident. The pump is back ordered of course with no due date. They put 17 miles on my truck in the process. Pissed off...
