Huge NoLimitz Feature Release (Beta)

Just received an email from Scott at ZAutomotive that they found a problem with the beta firmware and will be sending another update out today to make things right.

It appears there will be many updates with new features coming out in the near future.

"I do have another firmware to update your no limitz too. Our engineer found an issue, that causes the no limitz to overwrite in a continuous manner and this can wear out the unit. So we have an update coming today to resolve this and I will send this out to you as soon as we have it out. No harm to the vehicle but could prematurely wear out the unit and this update will prevent that."
Do they automatically send the update to all beta testers?

He didn't say but I think they are keeping track of who they sent the Beta firmware to. He said the new update will be sent out later today.

I received the update a few minutes ago. 24.1.6

Just received the 24.1.6 update. Update was quick with no noticeable changes.

I lost all my custom settings when I upgraded. Not a big deal but I had to redo everything I had changed.

That’s interesting because the instructions stated that would not happen. Hopefully maybe just a glitch. I received the update a few moments ago and will install when I get home later today.

Edit: Just arrived home and installed update 24.1.6 with the same results as you... all previous settings were lost, including the security code. Like you said, not a big deal...especially since my previous settings were very fresh in my head 🎬

I updated mine today and also lost all settings. Everything went back to stock.

I notified ZAutoMotive and they are looking into it.
As you mentioned, it's no big deal since changes are easy to make, but I'm curious why they believe it won't affect the settings.

Can anyone report back how the NoLimits and Tazer work together with force 2wd, no mds, and sport mode?

I saw in earlier comments that sport mode + no mds sounds like off-road plus mode button without the altered shift points.

Can anyone confirm?
I run a Tazr and the NoLimitz and they work seamlessly together. The Tazr requires you to hold left on the D-pad and make changes with the cruise control buttons. The NoLimitz does everything with the cruise control buttons and no action from the D-Pad.

I also checked and you can have ForceRWD, Sport Mode, and MDS off with no issues.

I was reminded that I had ForceRWD on when I took off from a stop sign quickly and had the traction control pull power. I always leave mine to 4WD so it caught me of guard. :D

In my update email they did state that all will revert to default.

I also experienced a big issue with the 24.1.5 whereby I couldn't start the Jeep, the dashboard lit like a Christmas tree, got tons of engine codes, and NoLimitz didn't accept the pin anymore.

I had to physically disconnect NoLimitz to return everything to normal.

This is part of the game when testing a beta, but let's hope the 23.1.6 beta cures this.

As a Product Manager familiar with having customers endure pilots, beta software, etc., it's nice seeing someone understand what comes with "in-development" software being daily driven.
Kudos to you.

Well, can’t say I was happy and/or I didn’t mutter some choice words to them; but I was happy that this happened in my garage, and not somewhere in the middle of nowhere.

Mine stated:
8. Note you settings will stay in the No Limitz, so just remove, update and reconnect.

Mine died after sitting overnight with 24.1.5 beta firmware. Z was great at providing quick instructions how to restore my vehicle by returning to stock. I reinstalled the Tazer JL Mini and that seems fine. But Now my updater tool does not see the NoLimitz module. I click on 'read firmware' and it returns a blank. I try to perform a refresh and it very briefly displays an error so fast I cannot read it. Z is closed for the evening as they should be. Any ideas how to force the NoLimitz to be recognized? It is out of the vehicle, plugged into my windows laptop, and it does have a solid red light.

It states in the software that it is normal for it to not recognize the NoLimitz.

Didn't they email you instructions with the file?

The instructions state that ZPU might not recognize the NoLimitz. I am passed that. I connected it to the proper com port by following the instructions. But it does not recognize the version of firmare on the NoLimitz. I disregarded that and selected a firmware to install, it very briefly displays error messages so fast I cannot read them.

Ughhh. How frustrating
