I'm supposed to get my jeep back tomorrow. It'll be the 3rd time they replaced the gasket. They also replaced the valve cover this time too.

Is this driver's side or passenger side?OK, add me to the list.View attachment 32355
This is passenger side, I’m not sure if I located the same spot on the driver side, so at least passenger side. Thank you for the suggestion for endoscope. Is this driver's side or passenger side?
No prob! Mine was leaking from the passenger side too. This is passenger side, I’m not sure if I located the same spot on the driver side, so at least passenger side. Thank you for the suggestion for endoscope.
That’s a dam good pointAgreed.
The only reason I had them do it was being under warranty. Otherwise, I would have done it.
Recently, someone asked me how I could buy a Jeep at $80k
I told them I probably saved almost as much doing my own work over the last 30+ years.
When I took mine in, they initially thought it was the TGE valve cover as well. Mine was ok. Valve cover gasket.I just picked up my jeep from getting the valve cover gasket. The dealer also replaced tge valve cover. The tech said that the valve cover looked warped and that was probably causing the issue.
My oil levels dropped a small amount when it was leaking but it was hard to notice since that it was less than 1/4 of a quarter over a few thousand miles.I've been smelling burning oil too off and on while driving around. I just assumed it was an old vehicle in front of me...great. I'll check my passenger side valve cover. Thanks for doing all the research and sharing!
This is the unit I bought. You can screen record to show the dealer the video. My oil levels dropped a small amount when it was leaking but it was hard to notice since that it was less than 1/4 of a quarter over a few thousand miles.
I thought the same too, that i was just a vehicle in front of me at first. You may need a cheap amazon boroscope to see signs of a leak. Good luck!
Cool! If it does, have them replace the valve cover too. I asked jeep if I could just have them swap the plastic covers for the stamped aluminum ones if the leak came back. But they said it would void warranty, lol.Had the dealership replace the gasket on the passenger side, let’s see if it comes back again.
You might be right. I smelled something again today… it might be the residual oil eventually find its way down, I will give it a few more weeks to see if it leaks again.Cool! Mine is 23’ only 1 year old so still have some time. I have dealt with most of the minor problems people posted on the forum, oil cooler leaking coolant, driver door leaking water, this valve cover leaking, and potentially more…Don't let it go too long if it's still under warranty. Maybe there's a bad batch of valve covers out there.
That smells like a batch of bad parts. Mine was built in Jan-Feb.Wow! Mine is a '23 too
Mine was built summer/fall of '22That smells like a batch of bad parts. Mine was built in Jan-Feb.
I will endoscope it this weekend. More than likely it leaks again.Mine was built summer/fall of '22
Cool. Please post if you discover another leak.I will endoscope it this weekend. More than likely it leaks again.
