🛠️ What did you do to your Jeep 392 today?

Been a while since I posted, but I was prepping and eventually ran The Rubicon Trail with the Jeep Jamboree.

While it was awesome, I came out with my rear bumper creasing my driver side quarter panel and exhaust with whistler tips.

So, of course I swapped for Warn Elite bumpers front and rear and a Magnaflow Rock Krawler exhaust.

And when I think about, doing a 3.5” lift along with a set of Adams driveshafts will make it even less worrisome next time….that extra 1” would have been great at the time!

But it was fun and would do it again with the jeep as is.

The trick is to remove the stock exhaust tips when off-road in. The better solution is what you did with the Rock Krawler exhaust. I'm very interested in that but know that it illuminates the exhaust valve. I drive on the road quite a lot and need to have an acceptable sound level. I drive with the open exhaust, quite a bit, but usually close it on the highway. I would appreciate your opinion on the sound level of the Rock Krawler.

Can you tell me about the clamps you used to mount your lights on the bumper hoop? Are those LP4s or LP6s?

Thanks! They are the mopar bullbar light mounts and those are LP4’s on there. I could not fit triple LP6’s on the winch guard.

Installed Midland MXT575 GMRS radio. Decided to mount on the driver’s side behind the dash. It fit nicely below the steering shaft (with plenty of clearance). Mounted with 3M Industrial Strength Dual Lock fasteners and put an HD zip tie strap around it for some extra hold. Also decided to use a separate external Midland speaker for better sound quality and mounted that up on the roll bar speaker bar just behind the Driver’s seat on the left hand side. Works well in that location. Went with the full 6db whip antenna to maximize range and mounted it through the existing mount hole on the tailgate hinge reinforcement. Here are some pics:

Installed a remote mic port on the passenger side of the center console. It’s almost completely covered and hidden by the TuxMat when not in use and the mat tucks in nicely under the center console trim when the mic is plugged in.

Got a standard NMO cap to cap off the antenna mount when not using the radio. I think the hinge reinforcement mount is a nice setup, very happy with it.

I installed Rally Armor mud flaps last weekend. They are not as wide as the product photos let on but they still cover 95% of the tire from flinging rocks & debris. They also keep my AMP steps much cleaner. I chose a pliable version over rigid plastic as they are supposed to help clear mud and snow that cakes up as you drive. We'll see how they hold up this winter.

Replaced the cabin air filter at 13K miles. Daily drive and only one time dusty offroad trial run. Super easy to change and you should check what you have now before purchasing a new one. My 2022 uses the 68565698AA. Yours may be different. I also heard some JLs come with two small pieces of cabin air filters. I like the one piece.

Me too. From 1971 to 1985 in 4 different CJ’s I only lost one windshield.

Yes, it's the Gorilla glass.....

I'm a bit confused as to what happened... I think it was delayed.... We took a small stone hit on the highway.... I even commented about engaging the Gorilla defenses. Then 20 minutes later, what sounded like a mid-sized bug impact, and the crack appeared. I suspect the rock did some damage to the edge of the glass, and later it cracked, and what we heard was just the cracking.
