🛠️ What did you do to your Jeep 392 today?

Stopped by the shop to get the AWE exhaust tweaked a bit since it was rubbing on the frame after wheeling at Rausch Creek this past weekend, couldn’t pass up this shot when I picked it up. The 4.0 TJ is the shop owner’s main trail rig, complete with 40” stickies. He put an aftermarket cage on it over the winter after rolling it last year.

I don’t remember you ever posted a review of the AWE exhaust. I still haven’t pulled the trigger and the OEM exhaust didn’t cause any issue from my mild off-road trail run. Any regrets on the AWE?

Zero regrets. This exhaust tone should be on every 392. And the clearance is so much better for the wheeling I do. My stock tips were completely bent and mangled from hitting rocks when I took the stock exhaust off. I will say it is loud, but personally that is what I was looking for. Quiet mode is just about as loud as stock loud mode, and the loud mode is very very loud.

Awesome! Many times I have to join some conference calls while I’m driving, the quiet mode definitely helps. Sounds like there’s no need for exhaust skid to protect the AWE tips and muffler, there’s no such product on market as well.

Not that you were asking me, @Fast-n-Furious, but I also run the AWE exhaust. I’m extremely happy with it and no regrets here either.

I really like having it in performance mode for around town, but I’ll switch it to quiet mode on the highway. Quiet mode really isn’t very quiet, but it does take the edge off just a little bit.

I’m not expecting to have any issues with it off road either. It’s crazy how tight and high it ticks up under the rear tub. You have to actually get down onto your hands and knees to even see it!

Thanks for the feedback! As I have had my 392 for over a year, I’m also getting used to the OEM exhaust notes. Still very nice but I wanted more.

Had the SteerSmart track bar bracket installed on Friday. I have a RockKrawler 2.5in lift kit and the Fox ATS steering stabilizer. 37x13.5 Nitto Trail Grapplers on 20x10in rims. I have 23000 miles on this set up minus the Steer Smart bracket.
I felt like my Jeep drove better than any Jeep I’ve ever driven, even at speeds 85-90mph. But it clearly still had a trace of play and would still feel a little squirrelly going through rough interstate construction. I hadn’t done any mods lately so this seemed like a logical choice.
My first impression is very positive. It feels more like a truck with oversized tires than a Jeep with oversized tires. Really tight through construction, tight and stable through turns with dips. Only had on for a couple of days so no off road or flex but will report back, but daily driving its better for sure with the heavy set up tire wheel combo.
The negative: the bracket was rubbing my spring when the spring compressed. We grinded the edge/lip of the bracket down pretty aggressively and painted. Much more clearance it seems, definitely not rubbing while driving on the road. Gonna flex it later this week. The bracket is very beefy so I think a little trimming won’t affect its performance. Pictures make it look closer than it is, but before the trim it was pretty damn close.

Relocated Sirius XM antenna, or I should say installed another antenna and connected it instead of the factory one. Hoping to get better reception with a roof rack.

Thanks! Wearing 37 BFG KA02s…
Your overall build looks OEM.

How would you compare the Fox 2.5 with Clayton to the Factory springs/shocks on the highway , expansion joints, speed bumps etc ? I’m looking at the 2.5’s

Heh, that was actually my goal…I like stealth builds, if you could call it that. But if you know what to look for, you’ll know what I changed and would appreciate it.

Regarding ride quality, definitely improved - the adjustability of the 2.5s make a big difference. Smoother ride, less slop in the steering feel, more confidence inspiring for sure. Is it KoH awesome? No…but at least 5x better than stock.

think I’m about as Rubicon Ready as I can be!
No end to being Rubicon ready. The 392 as you have your set up is very capable. Mine is almost identical to yours. I wouldn't feel comfortable even with Dana, 60s and 40 inch tires. The Rubicon and Fordyce always make me pucker a little. Especially with such an expensive vehicle that doubles as my daily driver.

Love my GTHaus exhaust...best sounding of the bunch and very nice exit angle, tucks everything up as high as you can. Great clearance along the whole run.
