🛠️ What did you do to your Jeep 392 today?

I have to assume the NOCO is an AC-DC charger so you are plugging that into the 110 VAC outlet in back seat? How will that interact with the BCDC 1225?
Unfortunately the onboard inverter has a limit of 150w but that charger can max out periodically at 165w which trips the port protection and the port shuts off. Im currently using a Bestek 500w inverter that plugs in using a CLA and sits under the drivers seat. Im waiting on delivery (4-6 weeks out) of the AAL rear cubby battery box which I'll wire up to the BCDC and then remove the AC/DC charger. Im still considering if I will add more batteries or stick with just the 2. At the moment, the 2 are enough to power my Dometic CFX3 45 fridge for ~48 hours depending on how often its accessed, the amount of food inside, and of course the outside temps.

Tested the shake siphon hose for the first time. 10 Gallons in about 4 minutes was pretty good.

I ask not to criticize, I have a similar setup and and trying to learn everything I can. It would be a waste to take 12 vdc, convert it to 120 vac then convert back to 12vdc to charge the battery. Thats why I asked what you are doing with the BCDC 1225. I recently found a small dc-dc charger and will try to use that to charge my 50ah LiFePO4 battery. The charger is actually switchable from 2-4-10 amps. I have the same fridge and it takes about 1 amp on average in ideal conditions. If I am powering mostly the fridge from that battery I figure the 2-4-10 amp selectable charger is more appropriate than the 25 amp BCDC 1225. In my mind, no reason to run 4 ga wiring just so the charger can run at 25 amps when its really not needed and prefer to not stress the alternator in that way.

I see you have a bit of AAL gear, I have been very happy with their gear also. I the cargo shelf and the ARB under seat compressor mount.

I dont see where the waste is but thats Ok. U call it waste I call it perfect… for now but certainly not enough :). The fridge burns a min 5w per hour but most often is closer to 12 and thats when its <60 deg outside.

Even at 10amps the charger takes 5+ hours to charge my batteries when depleted which means if I stay in one place for more than two nights I have to drive at least 5 hours non stop to get them topped off.

With a bcdc charger Ill be able recharge in ~2 hours drive time and if I need/want to extend my stay I can easily add just 100w of solar to keep up with the fridge.

My current charging setup cost me <$150 compared to the upgrade (bcdc) thats gonna run closer to $750 when all done. So the money saved right now allowed me to buy other things like the new AAL platform.

Tons of ways to skin the cat which is why customizing/personalizing jeeps are so much fun and frustrating at the same time if u know what I mean.

One last thing, u dont need to run 4ga for such a short run to the inside aux switches. 8ga is plenty for a 40amp circuit which is what Ill be doing.

What size tire are u running with that container and is it the titan? Any more pics avail?
It is the AEV Gas Caddy, the tire is 37" K02 (so really 36.5"). I am putting together a Build post that will have more pics for sure. Here is the top with the gas cap that I took when I was experimenting with chase/dust light placement.

OK thanks!

Did you upgrade your hinge to support the extra weight? Even with the Mopar HD carrier the hinge is relatively untouched and is rated at ~100# which is barely enough to support a 37 so once you add another 60# of gas it gets interesting.

The tire doesn't mount to the hinge on an AEV. There's a separate mount directly to the rear bumper to support the weight 🤙

Always curious how folks store that hose and how best to manage fuel fumes from the hose after use...?
I kept a clean one in the cubby for the "just in case" roadside use.

I kept another in the shop for transferring fuel for mowers, ect... I never put the used one in the Jeep.

I kept a couple of extra zip ties in the cubby, so if I ever had to use it, I could zip tie it around the spare to keep if from going back in the Jeep. At that point, I'd just buy a new "clean" one to put back in the Jeep.

We let it run dry, wiped both ends down as we took them out, then laid the hose out in the sun and air for about 30 minutes. At that point, there wasn't much odor on the hose. We put it back in the heavy-duty bag and sealed it. No gas smell was noticed in the vehicle today after the test.

Why people insist on posting random crap that has nothing to do with the titled thread I'll never understand. What did you DO TO your 392 today is NOT the same as What did someone give you today. Not the first and wont be the last Im sure.
This post has nothing to do with what you did to your Jeep fwiw.

Just realized I hadnt posted any updates in a while so here's whats changed...

  • Installed dual ARB compressor using the Kraken
How do you like the Kraken? I'm trying to decide how to go on my OBA setup? I'd love to go with Powertank, but its a pain to deal with refilling. I like the setup of the Kraken, but I'm also leaning towards the ARB portable case w/ the 1 gal tank. I can't really decide between the two.

On the TJ forum a guy did a pretty extensive test on tank vs tankless OBA systems. He has a dual ARB setup. He filled all 4 tires 4 times each with and without a tank in the system. The result was less than 15 seconds on average faster filling with a tank vs no tank. He was filling one tire at a time and did allow the compressor to run and fill the tank between tires. Unless you want to be able to run things like lockers or air horn without continuously running the compressor the tank adds very little.

Installed new License Plate with Silicon License Plate Frame and Black License Plate Screw kit, both from Amazon. One of the AEV provided nylon Screw Retainers was stripped out so replaced one of those as well.

edit: someone recommended I obscure my licensplates, so did a quick little photo edit, can you guess what it says? :D

Do you fill them all at once, or do you do one at a time w/ the Kraken?

The Kraken will fill them all at once I believe. It will take about 4 times longer than just 1. Simple math. The multiple tire fill systems cant make it go faster, some people might find it more convenient to hook them all up and let the compressor run but it cant speed the process.

Its one of my favorite hopups. I started with a borrowed Smittybilt and I was always last in the group and now Im always first ;) One of the guys in my group also has a dual but he does one tire at a time with 1/4” line. It takes him ~15 min and from 16 to 37 psi Im usually done in around <5min.

One other hugely beneficial thing about it is the simplicity of the install. Comes with custom harness so just bolt it up, connect the lines, run the harness and ur done.

Highly recommend!!
