🛠️ What did you do to your Jeep 392 today?

I got my set for black Friday, and loved them!....Until I was driving over a bridge at about 75mph, and a gust of wind ripped off my front passenger fender completely off, and into the water below o_O
It appears the "L" shaped adhesive bracket to retain the outer side of the fender to the light bracket failed to adhere sufficiently causing significant flapping and ultimately just ripping out the plastic fender clips.

Talk about bad luck.....
Had to order a new pain matched high clearance fender off ReveMoto for about $750 shipped with a 1 month production time estimate.... 1 Month! Patiently awaiting its arrival in the next week or so and will have to come up with a new solution to adhere the new fender to the bracket with absolute retention.

Any suggestions?
Wow, that IS bad luck. I was looking at the install videos and it really seems like the fender isn't secured well...now I have confirmation.

Can install these

I've been busy with the inside of my JL this last week.

Installed a CB and GMRS radio on the EPIC CROW molle panel
Comms.webp

Installed a Hooke Road molle panel in back

And finally, installed a Wolfbox rear view mirror that lets me see past the 40" spare tire. I still have the stock rearview mirror if needed to keep track of hooligans in the rear seat.

Camera mount for Wolfbox mirror

I have not, but I will check these out as well. Any experience with them yourself?
My concern was more so the front of the fender that touches the slim light bracket.
Maybe some adhesive JW Weld and clamped down for 24 hours?

I have them installed. It definitely solidifies the fender.

Not today, but yesterday - Removed the Goose Gear Stealth platform and reinstalled the rear seats/cargo trim. Surprised myself that I had kept all the parts/hardware nicely organized and I remembered where everything had been stored. 🤣
Are you keeping the Goose Gear seems like a great setup if you don’t need rear seats.

I am also curious what you're doing since you spent all the time and money doing the sound deadening. I love my Goose gear but I decided several months ago to keep the back seats so I'm not purchasing the seat delete sections

Not sure if this is something you may be looking for, used them in the past and they hold onto your fenders pretty well.

I have no plans to keep the Goose Gear. It's a great system and well made, there is no doubt. I never mounted anything to it, so really all I got out of it was a seat delete. I just need to snap some pictures and get it posted for sale.

Even with the sound deadening I did, having the rear of the Jeep being essentially a big cavern was just too much. Road noise, wind noise, and the AWE exhaust all combined to make the Jeep less enjoyable. I know, I know, it's a Jeep....

But, since putting the rear seat back in and the cargo area, the Jeep is actually fun to drive again. The sound deadening contributes to really making it much quieter. It's also amazing how much better the OEM stereo sounds now.

Anyways, that's about it...

Thanks just was curious. A friend in our club has it installed and loves it. Easy access to everything and moves the weight forward . I can see a big plus if one was to keep the spare in the Jeep and off the tail gate.

I get it. Even if I accidentally leave 1 seat down, I have to pull over and put it back up. The road noise is way worse with it down.

I love my setup with just the cargo plate.

Nice setup. How good are those Black shocks?
No idea. Only about 100 miles on them.

So far they have been a disappointment. I talked to MC before buying the kit, letting them know what I was planning and my concern they would be too short. They said they would be fine. They are too short. 3 inches of shaft showing at full stuff. Talked to them again, and they said the next size up would be too long for the kit I have- except they sell them with the next size up kit. So far I am not impressed.

A couple pages back I complained the Jeep was bouncing up and down. I assumed it was the tires. I talked to MC, the told me it takes a couple hundred miles to "break in the valves" in the shocks. I've got about 100 miles on it now, and the Jeep isn't bouncing like before. Now the tires feel like a regular MT, slight vibrations. Never heard of a shock that needed to be broken in.

Another thing they told me was the shocks were set up for heavy overlanding rigs. Told me to turn them down to 1 or 2 (out of 8). Obviously not valved for what I intend to do with my Jeep.

At this point I recommend buying the kit without shocks and measuring what you need and getting custom ones for what you intend to do with it.

Hey thanks tjeeper. I really appreciate the honest feedback.

I just changed my Metalcloak 2.5" lift to a 4.5" lift and had to get longer shocks to work with the taller lift. I really thought about getting the Metalcloak Blacks, vs another set of Fox DSC from Accutune like I already had for the 2.5" lift, vs going back to King shocks that I had had on a previous JL. The Kings I had before were just off the shelf non-adjustable 2.5" shocks. Everyone has their own preferences when it comes to suspension ride quality, but for me, I thought the King shocks had worked better than the tuned Fox DSC shocks. The Blacks were an unknown, and I thought I was taking a big chance to assume Metalcloak had got the valving right. So, I had Accutune build me a custom set of adjustable Kings for my Jeeps weight and intended use.

They work fantastic. Without even touching a clicker they are more plush and also more controlled than the Fox DSC shocks were. The improved shock valving combined with 2" more up travel from the 4 1/2" springs (I kept the same bump stop length) put this Jeep in a whole new league for me. I've never had a Jeep that rides this good. On my commute to work there is an industrial road with a 40-mph speed limit, but they slow you down to 15 mph as you pass in front of the airport because of a big concrete dip across the road. I've seen cars and trucks get airborne if they don't slow way down for this dip. I take it every day at 40 mph in my Jeep and it is absolutely nothing at all. The suspension just soaks it up and you hardly even feel it, there is no rebound, no hop, you just continue on down the road like there was nothing there. I've looked in my mirror at several other vehicles following behind me and just going the same speed I am going, and not paying attention, so they hit that dip at the same speed I do. It is pretty funny to watch them go "Ka-blam" when they hit it, then rebound into the air and almost lose control. I alternate between taking my TRX to work, and my 392. The 392 takes this bump significantly better than the TRX, which is saying something because the TRX has a pretty bad ass suspension.

As for shock length, I am using King shocks for a 3" - 5" lift in front, which was needed because I have more up-travel than a typical 4 1/2" lift would have. I needed to avoid getting shocks that were so long that they would bottom out before the suspension did. The rear King shocks are for a 6" lift because the rear bump stops are extended 1 1/2".
