Took back roads and 2 tracks today. Saw several eagles hunting.

Went through MT, east side of Livingston Peak, then to the east side of the Crazy Mountains. Great trip across 2 lane roads to MI where the tcase failed. Abandoned 392 at dealership, hope to go get it in 2 months.

Fun trip regardless of tcase failure.

So I need to go ahead and budget for an Atlas as part of the build 👍

If they say it was because of the 38”s don’t blame me 🤣🤣

Oh man, sorry to hear that. You didn’t seem to beat it that hard. I really enjoyed your trip updates and all pictures.

Too late, I gave them your cell # so you can go ballistic on them for me, sort of an intermediary. :cool:

Yes it really appears that if one uses a 392 as it should, you'll require a tcase Atlas upgrade. Hopefully it'll be a plug an play swap type kit so I can replace it myself in my shop.

Thanks, it was a fun filled expedition with family. Already booked for next year.

And yes, I used the 392 but I'm not an abuser of it. So it definitely is the weak link in the 392. Everything else with it worked flawlessly, except turning 38s while stationary.

Yep. I should have recorded the noise of internals being ground down while in motion. Cringe worthy noise. I really expected to it to "explode" the case and puke it guts out.

Bonus: I get another road trip to pick it up and cross the Mackinaw Bridge and then off road it at Camp Grayling area on my way back.

Just curious........... Were you using a Tazer to force 2 wheel drive when this happened?

Are you thinking it matters? My friend always runs his in forced 2w on the road and I have never ran mine in forced 2w. We are both at 18,000 miles and neither have had an issue and we wheel a lot and beat on them hard.

No Tazer. Wonder if driving on road it would help in 2wd, however I think it's a crap shoot as to whose fails and when. I'll see how long the next one lasts.

Wait, you bet me like $10k that I wouldn't make it through the Great American Crawl since my Service4w light came on the weekend before. I think I will need to collect my money. We will either be in the Ouachitas or the Ozarks starting September 3rd if you want to just pay me then. I am also willing to accept an Atlas vs the money.
