Rubicon 20th Anniversary Edition Discussion

So... an update on my 20a ordering saga.

Good news.

I heard from Jeep Customer Care, who informed me that my order should progress, but declined to give me any more info.

I just got a call rom the dealer saying that they noticed it went into "D" status in their system, and is getting built.

Still not showing for me in the tracker, but hopefully it will show up in the tracker soon.

I still suspect some shenanigans from the dealer and Jeep had to set them straight. I'll probably never know. I'll also probably never order another new Jeep.

Update for me as well. I got my VIN this morning. It's still not showing up in the VON tracking system though, which may be somewhat relieving for some, as I'd think that should be populating first, prior getting a VIN.

Interesting, as I don’t even see the “D” status available on my tracker…Looks like it will go to “D1” next according to the actual tracker…See Attached

That is great for all of you that are getting the 20th!
I might can still order one from my dealer, says I can anyway.
Would you if you were me?
I want to so bad, but also hard to justify the extra 10-12K that I spent on mine.

I ordered one this past Sat. I have the von but no vin. I have a question. So they state they are building 4,000 20As. Does anybody have knowledge of how many of those 4k will be 4xes and 392s? I doubt it's 2000 each.

I bet it's 4k of each, but it definetly could be 2k of each. I wonder if the great Scott Blum knows?

What color did you order and are you selling yours or trading it?

Thanks!

I also wonder if waiting for the 24 might have the Uconnect 5 and such.

Only you can answer if you should. Obviously, I did.

I expect to take a beating on my current 392, which I bought in December used with 12k miles on it. If nothing else, the stupid sales tax will kill me.

My decision was made, because after getting my 21 non-xr, I told myself, and my wife, that if they made the 392 for the 24 model year I would buy one as it would likely be the last v8 wrangler ever, and I hoped to build an XR if it were available. But then they announced the 392 , which is essentially a limited edition XR, and I'm still not sure there will be a '24 392, as all of the other vehicles with the 392 are switching to the new straight 6 twin turbo.

So I pulled the trigger on the 20a figuring that even if they announce a '24 392, it would still be "special" enough to satisfy my desire for a long-term Jeep to enjoy in what will hopefully be my early retirement (or overlanding while working remote).

You do you friend. Good luck if you decide to try and order one.

Thank you for the reply and advice!
I guess I will just keep my 392.
I can add a compressor and the bar for like 1500$.

Plus If I get a bigger tire, like a 38, I'd have to figure out a way to make the Jeep compressor work with a different tire carrier.

What color did you order?

Congrats!

I have a feeling it's going to be more than 4K of each at this point. It seems like yet another FCA money grab and if they have the parts, why wouldn't they just build them? Personally, I hope they limit it to 4K total (with some mix of 4xe and 392), but it's so hard to tell from this cluster what will end up happening.

If you don't really care about the rarity or the "perceived specialness" of the 20AE, I would just keep your 392 (assuming you have an XR and want that package). If you really want an XR, then it may be worth stepping up to a 20AE just to get that and a few other bells and whistles.

For me, it's more about getting something "special" and perhaps a "last of the Mohicans" Jeep. If it turns out that it's not that special or rare or they keep buidling them for several years, I just may end up selling mine. I've said it several times, but my entire family LOVES our 392XR, so I won't cry if I don't get the 20AE, but I am really warming up to the red bits on the interior and the idea of having an Anniversary Edition. Either way, these things are almost too much fun to be legal, so we're all WINNERS in my book! :)

I had planned on getting the hydro blue if it were available, but my wife did not like it, so she recommended Black or White. I was kind of leaning towards white, but since I like my current black 392 and the gold accents play well off it, so I just ordered another black one.

I'm already making plans to remove all of the red from the interior. Keeping all of the original parts of course. I'm hoping to get some custom seat leather that's perforated and maybe add A/C seats while I'm changing out the red leather. I'll either order the Altitude black leather dash, or maybe paint a black one gold..... I might also drop in the J-Max cluster, we'll see. Then I should be able to just order 4 new seatbelts assemblies, and all of the red would be gone, I think. it's not a high priority, but it would be nice. i just don't like the way the red works with the black and gold.

Perfect reasoning and mine too, but I can't get the wife on board. She's all about numbers and making sense, and whilst buying my 392XR doens't make "sense", buying another one at 10K more definetly doesn't!

I think that's probably why I am OK with the Red... my Jeep is White. I think it works OK. I had a 2020 Rubicon and I originally HATED the red dash, but by the time I sold it and picked up my 392, I kind of missed the red dash. It was weird because I generally don't like the color red, but something about it just felt right in the Rubicon.

That said, I have considered going full custom leather (or Katzkins) to match the Sepia leather interior in my 2016 Hellcat (which is also white) because I absolutely love that color combo. After reading your response... maybe I'll do that! lol. We have 6 months or so to ruminate over such things. :ROFLMAO:

Oh, you're absolutely right (and so is she), but to be honest, none of this makes any fiscal sense, but boy is it fun!

I went with blue again. I'm open to selling my 22. It has 4300 miles on it with ceramic.

Just posted on fb group a few hours ago.

Finally got my email last night, and the tracker is showing my order this morning! Now the excruciating wait begins! It's been awhile since my last order. Once the "Scheduled" milestone has been hit, what is the range of time it is currently taking to get to "In Production"?

One would think it will be faster than the past two runs but reasoning doesn't always apply to Jeep....

During the announcement, it was stated that the 20As should be showing up at dealers in Q2, so hopefully it's not more than a few months.

I may be in a minority, but I'm ok with a wait on this one. I need some time to get my 392 paid off. I'll probably trade it in since my state gives a good tax credit, but I don't want it to have a lien on it when I pass it off to the dealer.

I never got the email from Jeep on mine. Oddly, the three 392s last year I ordered, I got an email on the 2 I didn't take delivery on, but never got an email about the one I did finally take delivery on.

I thought I saw someone say on a fb group that theirs was in D already. Mine's still in C on the tracker.

Same - Status “C” since 2/16

No, you are not alone. I will surely be upside down on my 4xe. The longer it takes for mine, the less financial hoops I need to jump through. June would be a good month. September would allow a cash purchase. That said, I don't mind being a circus bear if they can produce it quick, lol.
