Rubicon 20th Anniversary Edition Discussion

I hope you’re not dealing with the same stuff guruman is (possible dealer shenanigans).

On an encouraging note, the pic that shows up on the Jeep tracker for me shows the 20th A decal/badging.

The trackers both show the 20a picture for me too. My dealer was worried, but after I showed him the tracker, he said “then I’m not going to change anything on out end and we’ll keep our fingers crossed.” I don’t think he’s trying to pull anything . I genuinely think the dealers were completely (or mostly) blindsided by this whole thing and don’t know any more than we do.

Right now my build has a Vin, shows the options, and appears to be “confirmed,” so I’m just going to wait it out. Worst case scenario is I keep my 2022. Will be disappointed, but only a little because we love our 22.

Same approach. Would be disappointed, but I still have an XR 392 at least.

As an update. My dealer still has not responded to any of my calls or emails.

I did finally get another response Friday from Customer Care, saying they are still looking into it. Still no VIN or tracking info.

Nothing for me either. Hopefully something shows up by Friday. I saw somewhere that they are supposed to be clearing these up this week.

Honestly, I'm about to just give up. It should not take a month to find out what's going on with a nearly 100k purchase. I've bought houses and moved into them in less time than it's taken to get a simple answer from Jeep.

I don't think we really know what happened with allocations for the sold orders. It could have been they gave out just the number of allocations that were going to be built. In that case, if Jeep tells you they see your order, I would think you'll get a VIN soon.

There is the possibility that there were more allocations 'handed out' than spots, in which case it becomes a 'first come, first serve' situation. However, there were people on the fb group who were saying they put in orders on Monday or so after the banks opened and got a VIN, so if someone go an order in Friday or Saturday they should have a valid order and get a VIN.

The other possibility is that dealers were allowed to enter orders over what they were allocated. In that case, there would be a mess and it could be something Jeep potentially has to work through. Put another way, my dealer showed me communication that he had two orders, and one of the orders had the option of being put in as a potential AEV order. So if Jeep was just relying on the communication they sent instead of having a method in place to block orders once a dealer used their allocations, then they could have to do some work to figure it out.

My order was put in as soon as the ordering opened, and my POC was timestamped at 1:06p Eastern. My dealer insisted that I did not get one as they all sold out before my order was placed (he even indicated that Jeep was down to counting minutes and seconds to tell who got one). After sending them an image of someone order getting a VIN three days later, they have not replied to any of my calls or emails.

I've resisted driving over there in person as I'm likely to lose my temper.

I reached out to Jeep chat, and they just parroted that I needed to talk with my dealer, so I sent an email to Jeep Customer Care...

That was TEN DAYS AGO.

I’m more interested in what you’ll do in case you do drive over there and lose your temper?

...and to make it worse, I gave up my spot in line at Granger since nobody was offering discounts on the 20a, to purchase from my local small dealer, figuring that nobody else in that small dying town would order a 20a and I'd be guaranteed to get one, while letting someone else get one through Granger, and I'd not have to travel to pick it up.

I guess the joke is on me.

I thought I was tired of talking about this.... but I was evidently wrong.

My hangups right now are all related to being in limbo over the order. I have a month long vacation planned for August in Wyoming and Montana, where I expect to wheel the crap out of whatever Jeep I take.

If I'm getting a new 20a, then, I might move back the date, and take it on it's maiden run out west....

...but if I'm NOT getting a 20a then I can keep the dates we have, and make some changes to my current 392. But I don't want to sink a bunch of cash and effort into the current 392 if I'm getting a new one, as I'll want to sink a bunch of cash and effort into the new 20a.

I know you don't want to hear this, but in the grand scheme of things, these are all just first world problems (and I use the term "problem" extremely loosely). I get it, it's definitely frustrating, but at the end of the day, the thought of going into the dealearship and making a fool of yourself seems... well... foolish. Just let it roll. If it happens, consider yourself lucky. If not, consider yourself... well... lucky (you till have a badass 392 Rubicon). I'm basically playing the waiting game with mine because I still don't trust that it's a sure thing. I will refrain from modding my 2022 XR for now and if/when I become certain that the 20A will or will not come, I'll make the decision as to what to do with my current one.

If you're worried about the trip... push it off and if you absolutly MUST, then do some mods to your current 392 to get the job done (but plan on taking them off and putting them on the 20A if/when you get it.

"Problems" solved. You're welcome. :)

If you got your order in that early then you should get a VIN. That was a few minutes before mine went in and I have a VIN.

If you need it in the future, I can send you a screen shot of my first poc that was time stamped at 1:12 (with the price snafu).

So to expand on my story earlier in my thread about the Bronco the dealer sold out from under me (I won't belabor it), but I drove to the dealer. The dealer came out, said he wasn't selling it to me (all huffy, but not offensive - luckily). He then turned around and walked back to the back (probably also good). I just took a deep breath and left.

Fast forward a year, I got a used Bronco from someone else, love it, and feel better that I took the high road. I didn't read reviews of this dealer before going with him (I thought the same thing, go with the small guy, help em out a bit instead of always going with the high volume folks), but I should have. Some of the reviews talk about him cussing out customers in front of their kids that they brought with them.

The dealer is still an ass and I still steer as much business away from him every chance I get, but I also held my composure during the actual process and again, feel much better for it.

^^^^^^^^^^^ THIS. Is the right response IMHO. It's not worth messing up your reputation or integrity over.

I don't disagree, as I said, I've resisted the urge to drive over there.

It's just a shame that Jeep has handled this so poorly. Especially to a die hard Jeep fan that's been driving (almost 30 different Jeeps now) and recommending the brand for over 30 years.

My dealer is ignoring me
@JeepCares didn't care
Jeep Chat says go to the dealer
Jeep Customer Care has stalled for over 10 days now...

I mean really, how hard should it be to take 100k of my money?

I gave up a spot at a large dealer as well, but it's because they were asking 10k adm (That's fine, that's their prerogative and they let me know ahead of time). My local dealer said MSRP so I hope they stick to that. Honestly, if my local dealer does stick to MSRP on this one, they've earned my business. I'm looking into the recons and was planning on going with the high volume folks, but if this 392 goes through as planned, I'll go with the local folks instead now.

I had the same experience with Ford. I called multiple times after my incident and always got "Oh, sorry, we'll make note of it". Despite getting frustrated, I never went off on any of them. They're mainly phone answerers and none of it was really their fault.

I think pestering Jeep Customer Care again may be your next best bet. The thing I worry about is that your dealer will get the jeep and even if you realize that and claim the order, they will try to hit you with a huge ADM. I hope not. That's not something unique though. All of us are subject to that possibility tbh.

Yep, and on Jeeponorder.com it says 'lower level package'.

If you build a GC 4xe, there is a summit and a summit reserve. I wonder if 2TT lower level package designates the regular summit.

They also get this as an option:

Advanced ProTech Group IV

$2,235
  • Head-Up Display
  • Night Vision w/ Pedestrian and Animal Detection
  • Rear-View Auto-Dimming Digital Display Mirror

Pretty cool, but still doesn't convince me to buy a dime a dozen road orb though (even if it is an EV).
