How do they get stolen?

Another attempted theft:
The owner shared the details of what the dumbass did and glad they didn't make a bad damage nor get it eventually.
My Ravelco gives me a peace of mind.
I’m a big fan of the Ravelco as well.

The rugged ridge locking hood kit is nice. When I bought the cheap Amazon plastic latch with keys, this new kit was not available on the Market.
I second the recommendation of the rugged ridge latch. It has worked great. Easy install. No issues after a fun Moab weekend. I also like that it is all black. No silver keyhole, etc. Just a heads up that It does come with some extra pieces only for a JK install.

Considering Ravelco at some point as well, but I do feel much better having the locking latches as an easy and relatively cheap add on.

Random story: Less then 1-2 weeks after purchase we went to an outside eatery and the 392 was parked close to the tables. A ‘car guy’ the next table over asked me about the Jeep as he recognized it as a 392. He noticed the hood latches and asked if that was all that was securing the hood. Oddly specific. We live in a smaller town and theft isn’t an issue but if that is something that some random person notices I’m sure thieves are aware. I ordered the lockable hood latches soon after that conversation.

I mainly use them to prevent anyone from opening the hood so easily and messing up with the fuss box or dumping garbage to the engine or pour any random fluids to the various reservoirs.
Really wish Jeep comes with locking hood and hood alarm from factory.

I have Ravelco, use a club, dash cam, locking hood latches, full wheel locks, including on the spare. Plus a cable lock on the spare. Keep the fobs in a metal box at home, far from the 392, which is always in a locked garage and behind a large property/driveway gate. Issues get a bit more dicy when out in a public parking lot. There, the skumm-bags can possibly grab your fob code if they’re near you as you leave your ride. Thus, the security of the Ravelco and deterrent of a PIA Club. We do our best! 🙏

I just live around good people. No crime. I haven’t locked the door to my house or vehicles for the last 9 years living here.

Tazer just released an update with theft control. Ram trucks released today, others like the JL will be very soon. I ordered one today for my TRX through Brawlerfab.com and they are including a security bracket. (No affiliation with Brawler). If you already own a Tazer, then it's a free firmware download.

If you would post photos of the bracket when you receive it and perhaps a copy of the installation instructions as well I'm sure we could all benefit from that.🙂

What do you mean security bracket? What is it securing?

I recently read where someone had just hidden an Apple Airtag in the rear of their vehicle somewhere. It didn't stop it from getting stolen, but they were able to track it and the police had the vehicle back in under an hour.

BrawlerFab made a bracket and special tool to secure the tazer. I don't have one yet for the TRX, but they are supposed to have one for the JL also. Here is another thread from them describing it.

I'll get a Tazer and bracket for my 392 once I install the TRX tazer w/bracket.
I was wondering about that.... all a thief has to do is remove the Tazer.

FYI. Here is the prototype bracket. Different hardware to be used according to manufacturer.

The bracket most likely require the use of an extension cable. I have never understood the reason behind the extension cable. They say its so you can remove the Tazer easier if taking to a dealer but dont you need to remove the cable also, which would be the same as removing the unit itself.

I agree. I would think that the extension cable would be unsecured at the end of the oem harness. The box looks like it secures the oem cable (or the extension) to the tazer though. When I get the TRX version, I'll post here.
