How do they get stolen?

So what is it specifically that you recommend to secure our BEASTS from being stolen?

Hood locks, and any combo of the above is about has hardened as you get. I have the IGLA and compustar combo in my
Jeep, but have Ravelco in others. Both are good but really need the alarm also. The stock security system is not a “real” alarm because it doesn’t have any sensors to detect break/tilt or shock. Plus they can just relay attack the key and it’s over ridden anyway. TRX, and up until the 22 model charger/challenger was the same. Those ones now get the deluxe alarm as mopar calls it, with those sensors.

The alarm is the first point deterrent, stock horns can be cut through the grill on the Jeep and on the TRX as they are right up against it. So the compustar notifies you, makes noise and inhibits ignition while armed.

Then you add IGLA or Ravelco as the actual anti theft product. IGLA is more of a CAN bus (modern car electrical comms system) firewall, so you get the key programming block as a feature.

I used those before I moved onto the rugged ridge. The rugged ridge are better made imo, I had a problem on two jeeps with the bottom half eventually the pin that connects the two halves together got worn enough to dislodge itself causing it to fail.
And lastly your hood locks don't add up either....

What do I know, only 10 years of law enforcement and low voltage security systems. 😎
It seems that in your 10 yrs of law enforcement, that you would have learned that cutting a hood cable would not unlock the hood, the cable has to be "pulled" to unlock the hood...cutting it would make it even more secure...

The Ravelco has it's merits for sure, convenience not so much...and much more invasive....and more expensive

The Mobilistic's is simple, effective, cheap, and if used wisely is just as effective as the Ravelco...especially with hood locks...but a grinder or sawzall will render ANY hood locks ineffective for sure, all the while drawing attention for sure...

But the chance of a thief carrying a Jeep Starter Relay in his pocket is...? Of course he could always come back later but for sure not in the same day....

Security? I can tell you more stories about security than you can ever imagine.... ;)

This system has several good options that can be added...Failsafe Start Relay...Tilt Sensor...Ultrasonic Sensor...Vibration Sensor....invasive to install it seems....5 levels of security settings based on where you are....

IGLA is a Russian company (that now has a Eastern European address due to sanctions). The guys on TRX forum selling and pushing this spyware are very aggressively pushing down this information.

Ravelco is not an alarm. It's a passive (no electronics) immobilizer.
Thanks, yes removed it when I realized it was not an alarm and they were comparing alarms...

yep, for sure. Lotta guys pushing it over there. One of the guys works with IGLA US. Lot of debate about it also on a broken record. Important to note there are two versions of it, which no one talks about either. Silver Pro and The Pro+. Silver Pro doesnt have the bluetooth connection & mobile crap the Pro+ does (which to your point - as the app does who knows what with usage information). That was what I went with on the 392 Jeep, instead of going ravelco like I always have. My compustar installer happens to be a IGLA dealer so it was convenient this time around. Jury's out on what I prefer better, i only did the IGLA on the jeep because of the CAN Bus blocking - key blocking function since the RFM lockout isnt available. My other cars it is, so I had ravelco on those, just adding my reasoning incase its useful.

The caveat with IGLA is that there is implicit trust that the Russian white hat hackers (the ones writing the IGLA security software) are different than the black ones (the ones that sell software tools to break it). In Russia and Eastern Europe bad guys and good guys are owned by the same, more so than here. Look into Kaspersky Security.

I have no data on tools available for thieves, but wouldn't be surprised to know that black IGLA has backdoors available.

Ravelco in contrast is much more secure (assuming the installer isn't a crook) because is so simple and "open source", not a black box.

Re: TRX forum - just questioning IGLA will have their "installer" mafia all over screaming.

Oh I agree with you. I raised similar concerns on the TRX forums when I had my sandblast and we’d argue over there for days about Ravelco v IGLA. The non Bluetooth version (one I put in my jeep) is completely siloed unless the installer needs to interface with it unlike the Pro + which has the Bluetooth app that imo defeats the purpose of anti theft for the same reasons you mention.

I know all about the kaspersky stuff, I now work cyber security forensics. I remember when government machines used to have this garbage installed on them until they banned it. Your comments are a legit concern

Looks like a few stolen 392s were recovered.

Nice... Northwest Birmingham area. I've been up and down Hwy 22 a lot of times on business trips from Memphis to Birmingham.

After reading 8 pages of low iq..

Install a hidden killswitch attached to your fuel pump. Hide it well. Make a second switch attached to your ignition if you want. Only way to steal it then is with a flatbed.

Same, know the area well.... not somewhere you want to be leaving a nice vehicle for long. My daughter lives in the Ham and her car was stolen, recovered, and totaled out last year.

you can purchase all the technology in the world and this is probably the simplest and most reliable solution.....

Cars get stolen from good neighborhoods.
