Who's selling their 21-23 392 for a 24?

The anniversary edition is nothing more than a money grab as well as for dummies who think it’ll be a collectible.
Hopefully nobody around here believes the latter. The 10A already showed us that the 20A won't be some sort of collectible. Just like anything else, maybe 50 years down the line, but certainly not anytime soon.

I'll admit I'm a sucker for special edition things, so I'm ok with the money grab myself. For anyone that asks about my jeep when I'm out, I'll be happy to tell them about the 20A part and the history of Rubicon. Worth the $3k or so? No, but I still like the idea of it.

Nope, not selling mine. Not enough upgrades to even remotely justify the loss in value (or hassle). I'm planning on purchasing another full-size truck in a couple of years to give me something "new," and the missing tech/comfort/road trip features in the Jeep - which the '24 still doesn't come close to. It's a win-win, checks all of the boxes, just with different vehicles.

My 23' is still in the order process. And I must say I was pretty pissed that Jeep came out with the 24' goodies just weeks after the 20A was scooped up. But as the story unfolds and we learn more about the options, the good and the bad, I have to say I'm keeping my order. Looking forward to taking delivery soon.

The big game changer to me are the power seats, it's ALMOST enough to get me to trade up but being forced to downgrade to the XR package and those cost increases are hard to swallow as a value proposition. We've pretty much decided to just live with the manual seats and enjoy the Jeep as it.
The only use I see to power seats is if two people regularly drive the vehicle and it has memory. I have not heard of the new jeep having memory seats.

I think it may have more directionality though (especially up and down).

I have a '23. I'm around 6 foot tall and have a spot that is perfect and comfortable. I'm the only one the drives it regularly. So no need for power seats for me.

I'm easy to please in that regard though. My YJ seats are borked and at the most forward position, if you want your back against the seat back, you are basically laying halfway back.

  1. UC5 w/ wireless carplay/AA is a good upgrade; on the other hand, the UC5 Tom Tom nav sucks compared to UC4 Nav but the UC5 OTA Nav updates are a plus vs the UC4 $149 per instance paid updates.
  2. Not a fan of floating displays, the mix of rectangle and round vents seems like a design miss and the screen appears squished to fit
  3. I've complained about the red seat only decision ad nauseum, it makes no sense to cater to the extremely small % who like the red seats while excluding the vast majority of their customers who want a black interior by not offering 2 interior options.
  4. 99% of the people who put winches on their Jeeps never use them, this checks a box and an 8k is likely sufficient in most cases, weight and size are probably factors why it's not the 12k Warn from the Power Wagon.
  5. air bags are a good addition and should also drop your insurance a bit, reason to upgrade? not by itself but a good thing to have
  6. forced downgrade to the XR package was a big miss IMO
  7. POWER SEATS w/ memory, huge upgrade bringing the Wrangler into the modern era.

Who said they are with memory? It looks like they are not, which makes them completely useless.
Charging $149 a year for a GPS navigation map upgrade in 2023 is another joke. Not to mention that by "upgrading" you're actually getting a map from the past year.

If they aren't... well then it's an even easier decision not to trade for the '24. I had assumed it was because I can't believe STLA would be stupid enough to add motorized seats without memory but, after looking a but harder, you're right that there isn't any mention of nor can I find a pic of any memory controls. The only reason I'd want motorized seats IMO is for Mem 1 & 2 settings because my wife daily's but I'm the driver if we all go together and we take the Jeep. Otherwise I couldn't give f@$k-all about motorized non-memory seats.

I completely agree with the power seats comment. I’m 6’3” and built like an offensive lineman. I worked for a rental car company for a few years and every vehicle that had power seats had way more room than the same vehicle with manual seats. The thought of a wrangler actually being comfortable for my big @** self is intriguing.

DesertDoesIt.... Seat Jacker and Seat Slammer. Check them out if you haven't. Game changer for comfort level of our fixed seats.

You will lose some real estate in the down direction because of the extra stuff (motors and struts) now under the seat

On my list just for the added thigh support…..if we are required to give our body type in the thread, I identify as a sumo wrestler (open class).

I know this has been beaten to death, but I am so torn on whether or not to keep my 392 or order a 24!
I love the bigger screen, but I don't like the red interior.
I already have winch, but I like the idea of a factory winch.
I like the side curtain airbags and I like that it's supposedly quiter.
I have an 23 Earl 392 with the Xtreme Recon package.
I am sure the MSRP will be much much higher.
What are yall going to do?

Thank you!
I dropped my 2023 order that was being built and ordered a 2024 - mine was not the Xtreme Recon package as I ordered late - if I had that one I probably wouldn’t switch.

Ugh! I was pissed when I found out they extended the 392 so I’ll be keeping my 23. I was ready to sell as I lost that feeling of last production year model. Plus, I had plates made that say,“Last392.” Guess the joke was on me! I can only imagine what other Jeepers say when they see the plate. I cal always say,”it’s my last392.” Lol. Love most of the upgrades but I think the red would get tiresome over time. Like the sound dreading they are doing but hey, “it’s a Jeep.” Waiting for Falcons new coil over they had at EJS. Check it out on IG. Long arm is next.

Last392 will make complete sense once that engine production ends. This was the last era of the 392 Hemi.

It's really hard for me, who is a self proclaimed "tech guy", to not have that latest big screen.
The red seats would get old, but they aren't terrible.
I thought I liked the new grill, but the more I see it, the more I don't like it.
The wife is adamant that I will be moving out if I order a 24, so there's that.

Just wish I would have waited for the 24.

I have also thought of loading down a 2.0 or 3.6 and just forgetting about the V8. That would be dumb I know, because the 392 just feels better. I don't get on it, but it's just nice to press the gas and not lag and just roll.

There is nothing so special on the new 2024 Rubicon that would make me want to trade my OG 392. I’m more focused on trying to get one of the 2023 BMW M2 at MSRP right now!

Replace the screen in yours, I am sure a kit will be made available eventually to retrofit it into older JLs.

I was just watching a TFL video that they did at EJS and at 1:00 in Tommy stated that if you get the 8k factory winch Jeep extended the crash bumps on the bumper. If that is the case for all factory installed winches then you will have some ridiculously large frame horns (crush cans) sticking out of your bumper.

So I went back and watched the video that TheStoryTillNow did at the same event and sure enough at 8:34 the 392 with a winch also has the huge frame horns.

This could all be preproduction and not what will actually ship from the factory but if it is, an underpowered winch and extended frame horns would be a hard no from me on a factory winch for sure.
