šŸ› ļø What did you do to your Jeep 392 today?

Side note on inner fenders….front needs to be diesel or 392 specific. They won’t fit otherwise.
Yeah...I hear ya. Unfortunately, the company I bought the liners from stated they would fit the 392. Turns out the company that I thought I purchased them from belongs to the vendor who sold them. So Barricade Offroad is a sub of (or affiliated with) Extreme Terrain. The numbers and chat contacts are exactly the same.

Still searching...

I have been taking a close look at American Adventure Labs since @BenLandry posted his and I think I am going with them. I also found a video where a guy kept the top part of the factory plastic liner with the AAL version that looked good. Probably would not work with 39's or something bigger.

With the help of my good friend Matt which means he did all the work, we installed a M.O.R.E. oil pan/ transmission skid and a Next Venture Motorsports muffler skid.

You're not going to paint the bare steel brackets on the muffler skid?

Brackets are painted or powder coated, just a different color of black.

Doesn't look like it in your pics. That's just bare HRPO steel.

Thanks for bringing it to my attention, you may be right, time will tell.

Installed a Fox 2.0 ATS Steering Stabilizer today. I know there's been some debate here on whether or not the steering stabilizer will really make a difference in the steering feel, bouncing in lane, and tightness. I feel like it made a nice difference in mine. I set the sensitivity half way (12 clicks) and it feels great. Feels much tighter and much less bouncing around the lane in my opinion.

The install was ok, but had its challenges. Even though the replacement bracket that comes with it says it is properly sized for the JL out of the box, it was a bit tight and slightly off in its alignment. Even leaving all bolts loosely attached at first as mentioned in another thread here wouldn't work. I found if I attached the top two bolts (circled in green in attached pic) first and left them loose, then used a long screwdriver against the bracket and the axle I could get just enough leverage to flex the bracket long enough to get the bottom side bolt (circled in Yellow) aligned and threaded. Tightening it up from that point was no problem.

The carriage bolt on the other end of the stabilizer was a different challenge (circled in Red). The instructions say to use the OEM carriage bolt, but it looks like the '22 Wrangler now has a new steering stabilizer with a different carriage bolt that has a much longer square head. See pics showing new '22 part number and new carriage bolt. The new stabilizer has a larger diameter bushing on the top side that accommodates the longer square head (literally a square peg sitting in a round hole), bottom side bushing is still the same size as previous to accommodate bottom of bolt. Fox bushings are same size top and bottom and need the prior traditional carriage bolt setup. So, I VERY TEMPORARILY am using the other OEM standard bolt from the OEM stabilizer until I can head out tomorrow and buy a replacement carriage bolt.

Other then the above challenges and discoveries, the Fox fits fine on my '22 392 XR. I did have to slightly adjust the reservoir position, but that was expected and part of the normal install instructions. Everything fits nicely and no rubbing or touching of any steering/suspension components through the full range of steering angle all the way to the stops both directions.

As an addendum to my earlier post quoted above on the install of the Fox 2.0 ATS Steering Stabilizer, wanted to let folks who may be thinking of same know what bolt is needed if you have a MY22+. Finding a matching aftermarket option in auto-grade steel was a challenge, so I researched and tracked down the OEM bolt. The part number is 6510774AA. It says it's for right-hand drive Jeeps, but ignore that, it is the correct part. The attached pic shows the two bolts in question. The one on the left is the new bolt that won't work with the bushings that come with the Fox SS, the one on right is the proper replacement noted here. If you're planning to install this stabilizer on a MY22+ do yourself a favor and order this $2 part also.

Installed my BlackVue DR900X-2CH Plus Dash Cam. Considered it but ultimately decided I didn’t want to tap into the wiring for the ACC and braking system behind the mirror, so went ahead and used one of the two fused wires that are bundled with the four interior Aux Switch wires under the glove box. Clean and easy install, no problem with the power source. Sorry for the bad pics, lighting wasn’t so good in the garage this evening.

Finished up some bigger mods today. Install list includes:

  • Warn Zeon Platinum 12-S Winch
  • Warn Power Interrupter (to wire winch to Auxiliary Switch 4 so it's not always direct to battery)
  • Warn Epic Fairlead (Gunmetal)
  • Warn Winch Plate
  • Maximus-3 Trim Plates
  • Factor55 Ultrahook (Gray) with Optional Rope Cover
  • BajaDesigns LP4 Light Pair (wired to relay and Auxiliary Switch 3)
  • BajaDesigns LP4 Rock Guards (Clear)
  • Petty's Garage (UPR) Oil Catch Can
  • Ran a SAE ported power line from battery to hidden area behind front bumper on driver's side for quick connect to a battery maintainer without having to open hood
  • Had a Ravelco Kill Switch installed a few days back but hadn't posted pic of install location yet, so adding that in here too. . .
Just need to aim the lights and do a proper pretensioning on the winch line in the next couple days to finish it all out.
