šŸ› ļø What did you do to your Jeep 392 today?

Hmmm. Never had an issue with multiple claims or electronics not lining up. Good food for thought.
I think they had 4 or 5 windshields replaced in 1 or 2 years timeframe, two different vehicles.
Here in Arizona they chip seal our roads. I know other states do as well. It’s a rain storm of flying rocks for a few days after roadwork is completed .

Yup, here's another pic. The stock location is a really bad design as it's really exposed to rocks:

I'm just putting a Teraflex 9550 in the stock location until I get the lift with relocated stabilizer, likely the FOX ATS.

I used Simple Green spray. Covered the battery, alternator and intake. sprayed the engine down scrubbed a bit then hosed it off at low pressure everywhere.

Just be careful with the Gold 392 under the hood. Mine flaked off a bit so work around that.
Dumb design by Jeep metal cloak has a nice design to relocate steering dampener . On another note they should have mounted the tie rod up on top as well

Do you have details you could share about it? It looks very well done!
This is the Smarter Home (aka the Garage Smart) lift. The number one advice I can give to install is the cut a piece of cardboard exactly 15" x 15" and to have a plumb bob. With that and a friend to help you will really like this. So nice that I can take my top off and install it back by myself so easily going forward.
Here is a couple of photos yesterday:

Yeah 100% bad designed. I hit the factory stabilizer on a moderate trail, pretty sad.

100% will be addressing the steering as part of my 38inch tires and lift. Will be going with this setup along with the FOX 2.0 adjustable ATS:

In the meantime I'm waiting for the old style bolt to arrive on the factory tierod bracket as the new style does not fit the aftermarket stabilizers

I actually picked up two relatively inexpensive SS for the factory setup until my 38" tire and lift project starts as I'll definitely be doing 1 or 2 trail rides before the lift and pretty sure I'll hit that area again.

Going to install the Bilstein 5100 and keep the Teraflex 9550 as a spare.

Side note the Teraflex axle side bushing for the factory mount is too wide, had to grind the sleeve down. The Bilstein had no such issue.

Never head of this GBX MFG before. Curious why you decided to go with GBX vs the tie rod and drag link combo offered by others? Say CavFab, Apex, RPM…?

I'm going with GBX for the following reasons:

  • GBH are local to me (1 hr away) so if anything happens, I can pop by and they'll work with me
  • GBX do their own machining (CNC etc) on the aluminum parts so everything is done inhouse
  • Product is tried and tested with numerous runs in our local trails (AOAA, Rausch etc) plus across the country ie MOAB etc
  • It uses Steer Smart ends which I had on my previous JLUR and can appreciate how tough they are
  • This will be part of the overall package I'm doing with them which will also include their aluminum (7075) control mid arms using Rock Krawler joints and Rock Krawler 2.5" springs to fit the 38" tires
I think all these steering kits out there are great options, its just that GBX works better for my specific needs

Great! Nice to support local business. I think all the aluminum tie Rod and drag link bars are very similar. The ends would make a difference.

I also looked into RK’s combo, very nice and strong design, but there’s fitment issues with Fox ATS.

If you haven’t, check out RK PBJ:

I had the same issue I just pressed out both bushings and pressed in the old one in the new damper then had to do it all again when I properly relocated steering damper to its new up and out of the way location. You can use a large socket one one side and a smaller one on the other then put it in your vice. Slow but works

Agree on the aluminum bars being basically similar across the manufacturers with the ends being the difference.

Case in point with the RK setup, if I remember right their ends are very short to maintain strength and were designed for the stock location or drag link flip.

Too funny I did look at the RK PB&J control arms. But TBH think they are overkill for me. The GBH arms are super beefy when seen in person and have both ends adjustable so you can adjust the arms installed.

Hey, yeah I was thinking of doing that but then got lazy and did a bit of research, which is when I discovered I could buy the old style bolt for a little over 3 bucks.

The old style bolt arrives tomorrow:)

Ouch! The last windshield replacement I had was on my Grand Cherokee in AR on I-40. Way too much construction.

Well.. To answer the thread.. I haven't done anything to my 392.. Cause I don't have one yet.. LOL.. I'm stoked to get one though!! šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚
It’s the thought that counts. Besides, if you’re as deranged as the rest of us on here, you’re already making plans and possibly buying parts.
