I did a few little things this weekend…

Installed Mopar grab handles that screw into the bottom of the airbag tubes instead of velcro wrapping around them…didn’t think that would be a good idea!

Painted and installed my new MooseKnuckle receiver and tow hook. I purchased them in Buff Bronze, but they were too brown. I wanted them to match, as best they could, to the bronze gold accents that came with the 392 so I picked a can of paint from Loews that I thought matched pretty close.

Installed mats from TuxMat. Nice flat and clean look to them. Very durable and can be washed with a pressure washer and soap when I need to.

And finally, I ordered some hood locks from Amazon to replace the stock latches. There are a variety of styles with two key types you can choose from. I just went with basic looking style that comes with barrel keys.

Small touches here and there keep the overall changes subtle for my 392.

They ride high all the way around to create a bowl so if I were to spill liquids or take on some water, they should keep it contained until I can suck it out with a dry Vac or let it drain.

Now that’s cool . I’m gonna catch flack on this but that is better than stock and better than carrying around a high lift Jack.. I know I know there are those who have to carry a 48 inch tall jack around and smash your head into it . Not for me . I like that scissor jack

I’ve been debating on the Jack solutions. Eventually settled on this one. A guy who does off-roading in South Africa designed this. You can check out the specs.

GenRight also promotes scissor Jack for a few practical reasons. They design a mount too: https://genright.com/shop-by-vehicle/jeep-gladiator-jt/accessories/hd-scissor-jack-mod-mounting-kit/ which is using the RV Jack.

You know I re read what I have written to make sure it makes sense and I still miss some things. But I do like that Gortech scissor jack so far for the winner stock is ok but a little flimsy off road .bottle jacks can fail ,leak or even get an air bubble. Who wants to fix a tool on the trail . That’s just frustrating

Added Oedro steps for easy in and out. My wife loves them!! We do off-road but more a leisurely than most. Fun to take to the southwest Sacramento Mountains of New Mexico!!!

Did some serious trail testing this weekend...on every item found under a Jeep.

Me and a couple of buddies ran the Rubicon this weekend with less than ideal conditions. Rain, hail, thunder and lighting with 39F temps...Group of 4 moving quick

Here we are just past the Gate Keeper at the slabs

Epic Trip! Would a stock 392 (2024 w/35's) survive the Rubicon? I have heard you need more lift and at least 37" tires.

Yes you could make it with a GOOD spotter. Would body damage be a possibility...I think that would be a definite maybe
I did see a few on 35s or smaller...due to the conditions most if not all of them were struggling- pulling line and stacking rocks. We came across de-beaded wheels several broken drive lines (one poor guy broke both front and rear drive lines 50' apart) and other mechanical DNFs that held our group a bit.

That said my 3 buddies (lots of experience including KOH) all rolled on 37s and had zero issues and one of them (right side of pic above) is a JT 505 on 37s who suffered just a small scrape to a front fender.

Good to know. Yeah, I thought I had heard even with 35's its tough going. Besides getting 37's someday, I need a lot of seat-time to get even close to trying the Rubicon Trail. Maybe some day. I do have Colorado and Utah (Moab) within driving distance, so I will be aiming for a few trips there. Thanks!

Ease into CO and Moab as well if you need to build your skillset. I heard a great quote the other day in a YT vid talking about CO; "All the trails are easy, but they come with high consequences."

Moab is absolutely phenomenal, but those consequences are certainly there as is the pucker factor.

If your first time, I highly recommend going with a group or someone who knows the trail(s).

Good Advice. Yeah, I have been wondering if I could connect with a 4x4 group in Colorado and coordinate a trail ride. We just received the FunTreks Guide book to Colorado 4 Wheel Drive Trails. Northern book has 90 trails, the other book has 100 trails. They rate them (Easy, Moderate, & Difficult), give you tips and pointers along with a detailed map.

Excited to get the Jeep figured out and see what it can do.

Blackbear pass to telluride a total Kodak moment however as stated b4 people die often be cautious should not be one of your first trails out on your own .
