🛠️ What did you do to your Jeep 392 today?

Got a bit of work done on the Jeep a few weeks ago. Was out of town and only got the chance to take it out for a drive today. Mods as follows:

- MC 3.5" Game Changer suspension (was torn between this and the Clayton kit but couldn't find the Claytons here in Dubai so the choice was made for me )
- Fox 3.0 DSCA shocks front & rear
- JKS quicker disconnect sway bar links
- Fox Stage 3 ATS steering stabilizer
- Steer Smart sector shaft brace
- AOR Axle reinforcement truss kit
- AOR 30mm wheel spacers
May have messed up getting the mods done while I was out of town as I can't really tell what kind of a difference they made since I've been driving a rental the past 3 weeks. However I did try a few corners at speeds I used to take them in my BMW 435 and the Jeep held up well enough and was only slightly poop-inducing. Will be taking it out to the desert this weekend to tinker with the Fox 3.0 suspension settings and see what all the fuss is about

Ashamed to say I have no idea what camber, caster and toe mean. Will start researching now but would be great if someone with knowledge on the matter could let me know if the above is good or bad 🫣

Next on the list:

- 35" tires (can't bring myself to throw away the perfectly good stock tires at the moment - will probably do this in a few months time)
- Possibly some after market rims (I really like the stock ones but will probably need more offset for better stability after the lift)
- Heavy duty spare tire carrier
- Tom Woods 1350 drive shafts front and rear
- Steel rear bumper (comes stock with the dumb plastic one here in Dubai)

Camber is how much each wheel leans inboard or outboard. This is not adjustable on our Jeeps (on vehicles with "A" arms you can adjust this)

Caster is the angle relative between the upper and lower ball joint (this is an oversimplification, but close) This is what helps the steering wheel recenter after turning (like a shopping cart front wheel does)> Some caster is desired, as without it the Jeep can feel flighty and prone to wander. Also not adjustable on our Jeeps in stock form, but if you have aftermarket control arms or cam bolts (I would not recommend cam bolts) installed, you can effectively change the caster a bit. But doing so directly, and negatively affects the driveline angles .So too much caster and you get driveline vibrations, too little, and it drives poorly....

Toe is the amount that both wheels either steer towards or away from each other going down the road. Too much or too little toe makes it drive and steer poorly and grind through tires as well. Generally a tiny bit of tow is acceptable in the front.

It can be a lot more dynamic and complicated, but these are the cliff notes.

After four months of ownership, I have decided to go with the Clayton 3.5” overland plus kit with falcon sp2 3.3 adjustable shocks, falcon adjustable steering stabilizer, rockjock currie drag link, tie rod, and 40” Nitto trail grapplers with spidertrax 1.75” wheel spacers. Unfortunately, after having the teraflex alpha HD tire carrier installed, we have noticed that 40” tire couldn’t be mounted with stock rear bumper due to not having enough clearance at the bottom of tire hitting the bumper. No where on their website stated that 40” tire required an aftermarket rear bumper to make this work. So I’ve decided to return this and have ordered the motorbilt tire carrier. Until receiving this and getting it powder coated, I’ll be driving around without a spare.

Will it turn? Mine will barely turn on 37s in the rocks.

I will be adding psc steering in the near future. I’ll find out when I visit hidden falls.

I don’t really have any issues turning on my 38s while playing on the rocks. The hot power steering warning has come on from time to time while wheeling on hotter days though.
Same on my end w/ 38's. Though I'll be going PSC at some point, I haven't had any significant issues offroad thus far. More of an issue when I'm to lazy to air back up at the gas station/pavement in between trail runs... or trying to parallel park 😀.

I should have clarified. I can't hardly turn in rocks with front locker engaged.

Removed the factory electric/hydraulic power steering pump and lines. Getting ready to install PSC belt driven pump and cooler. May do the gearbox in the future when I finally get around to bigger tires. Wish I had it removed for the header install. Much more room.

The pump and such should be here Tuesday. Will take some during install unless you are looking for something in particular now.
Thanks just following . Will this allow you to turn properly without the binding that occurs now . Maybe even turn a little with front lockers on. Thanks

I’ve not experienced binding that I recall. I have had the power steering hot warning towing my camper up curvy mountain roads. Hope to remedy that.
