Trading a 2023XR for a 2024

Can you expound on why?
No, you have to buy one to find out. :)

It is quieter. The larger screen and Uconnect5 is better than the smaller screen and older software that ran it. I am used to the TRX 12 inch screen though, so when I woud go from TRX to 392 (22 or 32) it is quite noticeable how much better the bigger/newer display was. Overall it just feels more luxurious vs the 23 I had. I like the power seats. If one doesn't have XR package on their 21/22/23, now they get it with the 24, might not matter to some and yes it costs more. Only thing I miss from my other 392s, is the color, loved the Sting Grey which you cannot get on the 24.

The rear axles are also beefier, which if towing gives more peace of mind.

I pulled the carpet out of my 20a first thing, lined the entire floor with sound deadener, and replaced the carpet with Armorlite..

The added thickness of the sound deadener was kind of an issue with the Armorlite, but if you were putting the carpet back it would be pretty trivial and done in half a day.

As for the bigger screen, I'm considering swapping in the Stinger Heigh10.

I'll have better sound deadening, and bigger screen than a '24, for less money, and I won't have to give up my 20a to do it.

Man I love the aftermarket support for Jeeps.
That Heigh10 looks great. I wish Jeep would have done something like that instead of what they did with the 24 screen. It looks so much more integrated and it keeps the round vents.

I agree - Jeep did a really nice job of integrating the large screen UConnect 5 system in my 2022 Grand Cherokee WL74 5.7L 2 Row Summit Reserve - It has all the bells and whistles however the tech is still extremely glitchy. I guess if your mall crawling and using your 392 as a daily driver it “might” be nice to have if they ever get the glitches resolved - it’s been almost two years and in my book it’s still unstable and way to glitchy. The system seems to have a mind of its own (AI) which I personally don’t care for.

To me it’s a distraction and completely unnecessary in the 392 - I cannot be more pleased with my 2023 20A and really enjoy everything about it - To each is own / whatever makes you happy is what’s most important ✌️

In the 2021 TRX, there were a TON of glitches and issues with the Uconnect system. . it has greatly improved since then. I haven't had one issue (knock on wood) with my 23 TRX system. Haven't had issues with my 24 392 yet, but it is still newer. . . :)

If I was using mine as a DD, I think I might appreciate the factory system on the 24 tbh.

So far I've never done any trade-ins for the same model no matter how fancy/nice those improvements are. I like things to be simple and functional and don't care about technologies.

When my wife got her Audi with virtual cockpit it was really fancy with GPS nav behind the steering wheel, the truth is we barely use it.

The 24 MY is basically the same 392 and I would save the trade-in difference and buy my wife and kids some gifts maybe also some new mods for my 22 MY, and every one will be happy.
That is a good idea too. Just save and spend the money on mods...or maybe the family :)

Both are excellent rides and I could rock either.

I took my dB meter and drove both back to back on a 70mph cruise.

2023 was 91 dB 2024 was 3-4 dB quieter with the gorilla glass front windshield, acoustic side window glass and the added insulation in the window frame, carpet, firewall, etc etc.

2024 was definitely quieter by ear and meter.

Good luck !
Thank you for this real world information. Do you have the SOT or just the hard top?

If you can afford it, then do it. I had a 2022 and a 2023. The 2024 is much better IMO. Sound is better, Uconnect (bigger screen) is better. . etc.
I also had a 2022, and I have my current 2023, so I am glad to hear that it is much better. Thank you for your insight.

I like to hear those things. To me it just looks like it's better all the way around. I do wish Sting Grey was available on the 24. However, I am a big fan of Earl.

Mine is definetely a DD. I have 24k on mine. 24K (coincidence, I think not!)

Mine definitely is not. I got it in October and it doesn't even have 100 miles on it yet. lol.

Anyone else drive your 392? If so you could make an argument for the electric seats. If you have kids and other people riding, you could make an argument for the airbags.

I had a ‘23 for a couple months before it was totaled. I ordered in July and took possession right before Christmas. I’m glad I waited for the ‘24 and didn’t buy a highly discounted ‘23 or 20A. My Uconnect on the ‘23 was super glitchy. It constantly needed resetting and the off-road app would sometimes work and sometimes it wouldn’t. So far, The Uconnect 5 always works without glitches. I love wireless CarPlay. It’s noticeably quieter, but I haven’t had any time on the interstate yet. I’m 6’2” and the power seats are lower so I don’t hit my head on the sport bar anymore. The seats are definitely more comfortable (but still could be better). Antennae delete is cool…until the windshield cracks. Full float rear end and side impact airbags kind of sealed the deal for me. I really liked the ‘23 wheels but I actually like the ‘24 better.

My 2 cents, yes the ‘24 is better but if my ‘23 wasn’t totaled I’d still be driving it. 42C26544-5444-4427-B8BA-E9BDCC7332BF.webp

Better than the Braptor for sure!

I guess everyones experience with the new bigger screen is different, I’m not saying it’s bad. I can’t speak for the 24-392 but I have a 22-392 and just picked up a 24 Rubicon 2 door, not because of technology or model year it was all about the color. I haven’t driven it much because of salted roads but I have been bombing around the back roads and I have noticed the new screen is more glitchy than my 22. I get a fairly consistent split second skip when playing music from my iPhone every 15-20 minutes, it doesn’t do it when just listening to the FM radio. I have resynced my phone, reset my phone nothing seems to cure it. Like I said it is a split second skip and if you’re not paying close attention you would miss it.
The other bummer is all the wasted screen that could be used. They could have made it so both front and rear cameras could be on together, or at least use the full screen with one camera. I’m sure some of that has to do with the format of the camera. The accessory gauges are spread way out to fill the screen making the screen look almost empty, they could have incorporated the pitch and roll gauges into the same screen. They could have also had the off-road pages as an option for split screen viewing. It just seems like with all the technology in it you can’t really do anything worthwhile with it. Like I said I didn’t buy it because of the upgrades but because I wanted Bikini Blue and when it came up for orders again a second hand Jeep was no longer a thought. None of this would stop me from buy a new Jeep (obviously) but it’s definitely not enough for me to trade in my 22-392.

best of luck with your decision, either way you can’t go wrong with a 392.

last note, I miss the dual ambient light controls in the 24. My 22 has the dual controls and I like my dash lights dimmed way down but the ambient lights brighter.

I tried putting the pre 23 light switch in the 23…didn’t go well😂😂.

You have some interesting ideas. Be nice if an aftermarket company like Tazer could figure it out. I bought the 392 for the engine. Jeep (Dodge really) got so much right with the 392 that I ignore a lot of the other stuff. If the engine wasn’t as bad-a$$ and the top didn’t come off, I’d be driving something else. For over $90k with no add ons it’s pretty disappointing. My factory paint job actually has streaks! I’ve done a better paint job on my model card!

Same here, if they had an option to get the 392 in a stripped down sport with cloth seats, manual locks and windows and an AM/FM radio I would have been all over it, all that mattered to me was the factory V8.

I had a 2021 392 and now have a 2024 392. I won't repeat what everyone else has said about the improvements on the 2024 but will offer this:

With the added features and nicer leather, my Jeep no longer feels like a kick around vehicle. Even my 21 felt like I could beat on it and abuse it. With my 24, I feel like I am babying it more - don't want stuff getting on the nice seats, wiping down fingerprints on that pretty screen, etc. I'm treating it more like I treat my BMW that has soft leather everywhere, even on the bottom half of the door panels. Maybe I'll get over it, but seems to be somewhat at odds with the mission of the Wrangler.
