Hey everyone and happy Friday!

I think I may have asked this before, but not exactly in the same way.

Anyone with a 2021-2023 that traded in for a 2024, notice a huge difference in sound deadening? Is the Uconnect 5 worth it?

With 392 nearing it's demise, I am just curious about trading in my 2023 for a 2024.

Thank you for any responses!

I have both a 2023 model year and also a 2024 model year. My family and I universally feel the 2024 is a nicer vehicle overall.

I don't think it's worth trading into unless you're missing multiple key options on the vehicle that you really wanted but did not get in your 2023.

If you're a pragmatic person, I'd go with Fanatic's advice. If it will bother you not having the 'final model' year for some reason and are ok with losing out on some cash (at least in the present), then go for it.

I personally tend toward the latter (example: I get fully loaded autos even though I know I don't need it all) and thought about it for a bit, but I can't give up my 20A.

Thank you for the information. This is especially good that you have both currently.
I kept waiting and waiting for the big screen and I pulled the trigger on a 23, and them boom they upgrade it.
The bigger screen and "quieter interior" is mostly the reason to upgrade. Just trying to weigh out if it's worth it or not. I know you can't order a SOT now, but I was thinking of not ordering that on my next one. It's a love/kinda like thing.

Thanks for the advice! If I had a 20th, I might keep it, but the 24 is an itch I just can't seem to not scratch. The wife is totally against it. I wanted a bigger screen and a Jeep I could grow with and keep for a long, long time. Of course I could put sound deadening and make this one my own. I am so torn.

I pulled the carpet out of my 20a first thing, lined the entire floor with sound deadener, and replaced the carpet with Armorlite..

The added thickness of the sound deadener was kind of an issue with the Armorlite, but if you were putting the carpet back it would be pretty trivial and done in half a day.

As for the bigger screen, I'm considering swapping in the Stinger Heigh10.

I'll have better sound deadening, and bigger screen than a '24, for less money, and I won't have to give up my 20a to do it.

Man I love the aftermarket support for Jeeps.

I had a 21, 23 and now a 24. To me, the 24 is SO much better.
These are the things I like to hear! But it's also the kind of things that I don't want to hear :)
I was wondering if it was a big jump.
Thanks for the information!

I agree with most everything! I put soundskins in my 2012 JK, EVERYWHERE. It mad a huge difference.
I even put the Kenwood 10" screen. I think the Stinger looks great, but I like the factory wireless CarPlay and if I ever added amps, I could just come off the Jeep head unit to a DSP.
ALL great points, Thanks!

Love my 2023 20th and would not give it up for anything✌️

FYI, a cheap adapter can turn the wired CarPlay into wireless..

I certainly would not trade for the new screen and tech in the UConnect 5 - I have the UConnect 5 in my 2022 Grand Cherokee WL74 5.7L 2 Row Summit Reserve with all the bells and whistles and purposely bought my 2023 20A 392 in lieu of the 2024 to avoid all of this extremely glitchy tech which I feel would only be distracting in every aspect in the 392 - The UConnect 5 system in my JGC remains glitchy and unstable even after several factory airway updates - This would make me very uncomfortable in the 392 ✌️

Yes I have that adapter. It does work well, I guess I just like it built in.

I wondered if it would be buggy. I also am not too keen on the rear camera not taking full advantage of the new screen real estate!

I appreciate the insight on the bugginess.

I really like the grill on the 20A and the 24. I could always get the new grill color matched by the Distinction Applied people.

So far I've never done any trade-ins for the same model no matter how fancy/nice those improvements are. I like things to be simple and functional and don't care about technologies.

When my wife got her Audi with virtual cockpit it was really fancy with GPS nav behind the steering wheel, the truth is we barely use it.

The 24 MY is basically the same 392 and I would save the trade-in difference and buy my wife and kids some gifts maybe also some new mods for my 22 MY, and every one will be happy.

Both are excellent rides and I could rock either.

I took my dB meter and drove both back to back on a 70mph cruise.

2023 was 91 dB 2024 was 3-4 dB quieter with the gorilla glass front windshield, acoustic side window glass and the added insulation in the window frame, carpet, firewall, etc etc.

2024 was definitely quieter by ear and meter.

Good luck !

If you can afford it, then do it. I had a 2022 and a 2023. The 2024 is much better IMO. Sound is better, Uconnect (bigger screen) is better. . etc.
