Stock Battery replacement?

These 392s seem to eat batteries. I replaced the original with an Odyssey and it only lasted 9 months. This time i went with an Interstate Battery from Costco since they are relatively cheap and Costco makes warranty replacement easy. Costco also sells a lot of batteries so stock isn't sitting on the shelf very long.
How many miles did you have on your 23 b4 replacement thanks

I am amused at the members here opting to buy a battery when it's covered under the 36m/36K warranty. Why buy one when its covered under warranty?d. Mine lasted 2 yrs 364 days and was replaced under warranty.

The cost of a good battery is less than the cost it would take me to engage the dealer and convince them to replace it with another junk one, even if it were free. Calling to make an appointment, waiting around for them to test if it's bad, arguing with the service manager that it should indeed be covered under warranty, then leaving my Jeep with them for a day or more, arranging for a ride to/from the dealer, taking off work to get this all accomplished, is not "free".

Then there is the fact that most dealership service centers are completely incompetent and the risk if them damaging or screwing up something is not zero.

That, versus ordering a quality battery of my choice and having it delivered. Then taking 30 minutes to swap it myself, on my schedule, ensuring I get it done the way I want (and taking the opportunity to inspect any other areas of concern under the hood).

I've spent more time on hold waiting for the service manager to schedule an appointment that it took for me to just swap it myself.

You spent 30 minutes on hold waiting for the service manager? I would have called back a different time.

I called, made an appointment. Dropped it off, picked up the next day. No arguing, no convincing.

I can inspect any other areas under the hood any time I want.

You are right about dealer incompetence for sure. They dont do oil changes for me or any other maintenance but when it comes to warranty repairs it goes back. I have had my 392 for 3.5 years and that was the only dealer visit to date.

Battery in my '24 has been acting up for a few months now but it has not died yet. I can have it replaced by a local dealership under warranty but I'm not wanting to go through hassle to what @guruman had pointed out. I had to go through that experience on my gladiator and I would rather change the battery myself at home at my convenience.

not to mention you'll be doing it all over when the replacement OEM battery dies in 2 years again.

no thanks

Amen…..totally agree.

So last weekend short drive from my house at the first stoplight I noticed it idling funny, did this anytime I was at a stop or slow and also noticed the Voltage dropping to 11 volts then back up. Went to O'Reilly's and bought one of the Platinum AGM and problem solved. It was my own fault for putting this off as I knew it was a problem.

Rusty how many miles my 23 just turned 9000

So my 2023 392 is not a daily drive but I have a Norco battery charger that I plug in when its sitting, the last couple of times I have started it I get a message on the dash that the "Auxillary switches are no available currently". I have a Tazer JL and the PIN that uses those switches, thankfully they have been working but I also noticed the Battery Voltage is jumping around from 11.1 to 13.9 volts while driving. I know everyone says the stock battery has issues, my Jeep is currently at 13,000 miles and I am going to replace it with something else. I remember a thread on this but could not find it. What have you guys been replacing the stock battery with?
My 2022 392 battery went out in the spring this year just before the warranty expired.
I only had 4k miles on my Rubicon. It could be that the batteries at the factory sit waiting for
The jeep to finish assembly. My build took six months . I am interested in the yellow top
That is showm here. Who sells it? When my battery went out it was started by the Auto Club.
It would have been bad if it happened in desert cause I don’t have a satellite phone.

I replaced mine when it was still new, and then gave it to the NAPA employee. Amuse away....

I have a jump starter in every vehicle. I have started more than a dozen cars with them. Last month it was two friends in the same day. I would not go anywhere without one. Much more useful in that case than a sat phone.

I just hit 12,000 miles, I have one of the Noco's listed below. You can actually run it in place of the battery in worst case scenario and also have a Noco Genius2D wired into the battery so its always plugged in while sitting for weeks/months. That being said the Charger did nothing for the stock battery, I think they are just shit from the factory. Have run both Optima and AGM and had no similar issues. Although both my Optima yellow tops failed just after the two year warranty so I don't trust them.

Been looking to get a jump starter or two. You want to recommend one?

Any of the Noco I listed above are solid.

Oh, thanks. I guess I missed your post.

Yes, I would also recommend NOCO. I have a two GB-70 and one GBX-75. Amazon prime day is a great day to get a great deal.

Well
I can officially add myself to this list. I was kinda hoping I would Make it longer since my 392 is my DD. BUT RIGHT AT 24 months (almost to the day of picking it up from the dealer) my battery died.

I started getting aux switches not avalible last week and yesterday it was a total mess. Would not start at work (knew it was close so had a jump box with me). And then on the drive home it died in traffic and I was stuck blocking traffic for about 10-15 min trying to get it to start. Then it died twice more on the way home. It was loaded onto the trailer this morning to go to the dealer.

It’s funny cause for the last two years it’s sat in a car port in Colorado. We just moved and I now have a garage to pamper it and the battery dies. lol. Well good thing I literally just bought another jeep yesterday. So I’m driving that till my baby is back.
