Service 4wd

Had the same issues and took it to my dealer. At first they said they needed to change a motor. Took it in yesterday to have it changed and was supposed to get it back today. Just got a call saying they found metal particles in the oil and will have to replace the transfer case. Covered by warranty but a PITA nonetheless... luckily they've got the parts here and don't have to wait for it to be shipped from the US

The Jeep only has 13k miles on it. Let's see how long the new TC lasts...
Soooo.... my dealer says they'll replace the t case under warranty but want me to sign something that says since I've installed an after market lift kit if there is an issue with the t case again in future it won't be covered by warranty... I told them the t case is a known issue and has nothing to do with the lift kit but they aren't budging - won't do the replacement until I sign.
Any advice?

I would sign, get the new transfer case and start saving for an atlas transfer case. I don't think this transfer case is ever going to hold up. I've had the service 4WD a couple of times. Last time I used my Jeep the clutches got hot and started slipping and the front wheels quit pulling. I have an atlas transfer case on order. I'm done dealing with the factory transfer case.

Yeah... that's the plan in the back of my mind but I'd still feel like I'm getting ripped off and letting my dealer and Stellantis off the hook for something that is legitimately a manufacturer defect... and God only knows what else they'll try to wiggle out of warranty for in future on the back of the document I sign...
Also, as far as I can tell, they're doing this without checking with Stellantis about the t case issue. Is it enough of an issue that Stellantis would know about it and maybe I could reach out to someone there to get them to verify it's a known problem with the 392 and they agree to warranty it? Something like that would shut my dealer up

Is there another dealer you can go to? I know you’re in Dubai and your options are limited. I personally wouldn’t sign it unless you don’t care and are going to do mods that would likely somehow void the warranty anyway.

How many more miles are left on your warranty?

Do you know an attorney?

There are a couple more dealers here but AFAIK they don't honor warranty cases unless you buy the vehicle from them.. I wasn't planning on doing many more mods tbh maybe something to the steering and regearing and 37s somewhere down the line. Mainly I'd like to keep the warranty on the motor which these guys have said I still have since I haven't touched anything under the hood. I wouldn't mind losing warranty on the drive train stuff if it weren't for the stories online of multiple t case failures in some 392s

Oh I've got loads left... only done 22k km of 100k . I could speak to an attorney but consumer rights here aren't as good as they are in the States. The dealer has the upper hand - they can always point to the lift kit and say I've voided my warranty. However my service advisor said if I can get Stellantis to sign off, they will have to honor it

This is good news. Thanks for sharing. My Jeep has done this a few times and when the light is on, I do have physical problems with getting into or out of 4L. I usually fix it by turning on Force RWD while moving (and off again after a while) then clearing the DTC on the Tazer. Next time, I'll just leave the DTC on and take it straight to my dealer.

? We don’t have limited slip differential in our 392s what ever are they talking about?
The shop just called and they ordered a new carrier and it just came in.

The SA said the he was sorry that he misunderstood what the mechanic told him and they are just putting in a full carrier kit and it should be ready by Friday. I am not certain if their "kit" would include a new ring and pinion or not. If so, do I need to break it in? I plan on fully sending it on Saturday.

I hope the software update increases the clamping force on the clutch disks. The TC has a very high maximum clamping for range. Jeep needs to use all of it when locked.
Man, I hope you are correct.

The request from the dealer is unreasonable. Known issue. Mine failed with 2700 miles, replaced Transfer case.
Had AEV install their lift system (JL370) after 1st TV failure. 1 year later, 14k miles, another failure and new motor.
Unless you are swapping to Atlas, I would insist on Stellantis backing their product under their warranty.

If new ring and pinion give them some easy miles before you send it. Unless you are affiliated with bleeping Jeep then you’ll have to send it asap 🤣

Got it back yesterday evening. New carrier, actuator, bearings and old ring and pinion. All covered by warranty. I will be hitting the trails tomorrow.

Also, I just about have my Metalcloak rear bumper installed. I have to say, it's my favorite that I have seen. Front bumper will arrive next week.

Any issues with ParkSense?

Saw this on FB this morning, looks like another T-case grenaded. This one in spectacular fashion.

From his posts and replies it seems he has had the serv4wd drive light on for some time. Got stuck in the mud at his property the day before but got it out. Then grenaded next day while on the highway.
