Rubicon 20th Anniversary Edition Discussion

Nice to see several colors represented in the D1 stage!

I got to looking into the UConnect 4 vs 5 differences. This article has a decent rundown for RAM truck: https://www.motortrend.com/news/2022-ram-truck-lineup-1500-2500-3500-uconnect-5/

The major highlights I see that could be coming (available in other vehicles):
- Alexa built in (never used it in my other cars that had Alexa)
- Wireless CarPlay (Yes, this is a nice benefit)
- Up to (2) devices connected via Bluetooth at any time (meh)
- Personalized profiles and color schemes (would never use)
- Over the air (OTA) updates (nice to not have to use a USB drive)
- Improved voice recognition (yeah...Uconnect 4 voice recognition is crap for me)
For those of you who have Connect 5 in your vehicles. What are the other major features you see?

I'm not super excited on a 10.1" screen vs. the 8.4". The 8.4" is just right in my eyes.

One thing that I did see in the list of new 2024 Jeep 392 standard features that stood out to me was: Code JLW - Active Noise Control System. I assume this is the radio pumping white noise into the cabin. I've had that on other vehicles and it is nice. Could definitely be beneficial in a Jeep (of course it could be overbearing given it's a Jeep).

ANC is already in the JL Uconnect 4 and the 392. I disconnected mine when I installed new speakers and subs. I hear no difference as far as noise cancellation goes. If you are cruising around in quiet exhaust mode maybe this would be helpful but these 392s are always loud and angry.
It also has different color schemes already, 18 of them, maybe they are updated. Also the 4 does do over the air updates already. Mine has updated twice since I’ve owned it. My thinking is that the 24 will come with a roof liner standard to help with noise. I added a HotHead liner. Maybe it helps, probably not. It does help with heat tho and my radio sounds better.

Don’t get me wrong….it’s gonna be much better than the 4 however the Uconnect 5 system is already 3 years into its platform.

Good to know! I have a 2020 JTR and I don't know if it has ANC.

I must admit, when I first heard about the 2024 being released, I was a bit disturbed. The more I've been thinking about it over the last week or so, the more settled I am to keep my 20A. (You win Jeep)

Yes, the Uconnect 5 would be very nice, perhaps I can update the 20A Uconnect to that? Also, though less important, I'm not sure how/when/if my existing tazer mini would work with the revised dash screen on the 2024 (if that even becomes reality?). Or rather, how long it would take Zautomotive to come out with a new compatible tazer.

More-so, I'd prefer the upgraded towing capability. But as we know at this moment, we're not sure exactly what that entails.?.
From what I'm reading somewhere between full floating 44 axles & D60s.

I am however very happy to get the 4.56 gears. That's the primary reason I wanted the 20A, that in conjunction with it being a commemorative Rubicon.

Agreed, Justin. I'm waiting till the end of the month (reveal of the new 2024) to make my final decision, but I think I'm sticking with my 20A.

My 20A order just moved to D1 status - “Scheduled” as of 3/17. Got the email from Jeep Brand today.
Just got a phone call from my dealer. I have a tentative ship date of 4/6/23! Wow!

Well, my 4xe has informed me today that the 2024 is not part of the decision any longer. Check engine light for the 3rd time in 3 months. Always having to do with the battery system. Grrrr. That 4/6 ship date would be a problem if that happens to me. Last time the dealer had the car for 2 weeks.

Congrats, guruman! Can't wait to see these starting to show up. I bet my estimated build date is 4/6, not delivery...no way could they build it that fast. My dealer was probably confused. :)

Back to the 20A vs '24 392...put more thought into that...I think I'm sticking with the 20A. I don't think the new tech is worth it. It'll be interesting to see what the new '24 392 MSRP is with all of those included features. I went back and did some research on the MSRP of the 20A and it's interesting to see the progression:

YearBase MSRP
Late Model 2021$74,395
Early Model 2022$74,800
Mid 2022$77,095
Early Model 2023$81,985
Late Model 2023$82,495
2023 20th Anniv 392$90,985
2024TBD

I'm wondering if we'll be able to update some or most of the things to replicate the updates. I think we'll have to see how much they change the interior first. If they don't change the dash too much, I'm wondering if we could just get one of the new head units to replace ours.

I've probably put way to much time into this, but I used that PDF of the new 2024 features and compared it to other previous versions I found to come up with a comparison of the XR 392, 20A 392, and the 24 392. It's probably not 100% accurate, but it should be close. See attached (be nice...I tried... :ROFLMAO: )

Did I see somewhere that GCM was listed initially for the 24s but is now gone (In addition to Sting being gone)?
