I thought long and hard about starting over AGAIN with the order process to change up to a 20A 392XR in Hydro Blue. The only reason was for the XR package. But, when I look at the pile of parts I already have waiting, most of what comes with the 20A I already have waiting, including the parts in XR. Gears would be the only thing, and I've already gotten some estimates from local shops to do a swap to at least 4.56s, possible 4.63s or 4.88s.
The 20A would be at least $10k over my current order build, and my current order also includes (hopefully well paint-matched) half doors w/premium uppers.
I could take or leave the red/black seats, but part of what I love about the 392 is the bronze accents to include the interior stitching. That red leather dash may be nice, but I have plans to order the black leather dash panels with caramel stitching anyway.
Then the rational side of me really kicks into overdrive and I realize that I have lot of parts that are being changed out that would detract from the 20A package value retention. I care less about it being a collector item than I do want to use it for what it's made for. It just seems unwise to pay extra for the 20A package and then do big changes.
For onboard air, I already have the Kraken kit and an ARB dual compressor waiting to go under the passenger seat. I really considered the AAL mount/remote panel, but I like the idea of a dual compressor for the 37s I have waiting. Plus, heat was a concern too and mounting under the passenger seat will provide better ventilation. Also, I realize that rear tub area doesn't give much space for storage, but I'll take what I can get! I figure mounting the ARB under the passenger seat is making the most of otherwise unused space.
Either way, I'm looking forward to seeing the posts eventually of the 20A 392s when they start popping up. I mean, who doesn't like looking at Jeep pictures!
