Problems with the 392 Rubicon

So i here what seems like backlash, when i let off the gas i can here it, sounds like rear diff, as soon as you give it a little gas it goes away. took it to dealer and drove them around, you could here it no problem but they said they could not. will not put it up on the lift and try it. so i am going to a local shop and they are gonna put it in the air. also had the Brake booster go out, they didnt here that either. but they did fix it. and last took it into dealer to change oil, guy leaned on coolant reservoir and line and cracked it. didnt tell me. started to smell coolant. they told me 4 to 6 weeks to get the part. went on line and ordered it off the Mopar site and had it overnighted. they paid me back for the shipping. i hate people that are lazy and will not even try and work with you. sorry for the long complaint. other that that the Jeep is amazing.
Thats why I troubleshoot, investigate, then buy my own parts and replace myself, then I know what I have installed can be trusted, and also helps me learn more....stealerships are scammers plain and simple...sadly with no integrity...I have taken vehicles to car dealerships and had to show and prove to the Tech what the problem was so it could be repaired under warranty...unless it's a major fault, mine will never see a Stealership again...

i agree with you, but unfortunately for me i was not blessed with a mechanical side.

Peterson and Dennis Dillion.
Peterson is usually pretty good on the service side. I dealt with them on my TRX. I am with @LTZ470 if you can fix it yourself… do. I’m not far from you if you ever need a hand

I had/have an interesting issue with my 392, I have just over 10000 miles on it, 37x13.5x20, Regeared to 4:56, JL Tazer and PC. I drive it like a race car.
We color matched my brake Calipers a few weeks ago so it was on a lift for about a week. When I started driving it around again I was hearing a loud clunk on decel/braking then again on acceleration. I could feel the vibration of the clunk. To the dealer…the bolt holes on the brackets of the lower control arms on the frame are being “waddled out” on both sides seemingly from the power/torque being transferred. The first round of engineers recommended a frame replacement! Yes I said frame replacement. It made it up to the master engineers and they said to just tighten the bolts. No more noise for now. I’ll find out how much they torqued the bolts this week. I have a lift kit coming, I think I’m gonna reinforce or replace those paper thin brackets or possibly just go to a long arm, I wasn’t planning on that tho.

@BenLandry, I’m experiencing a similar issue recently and was thinking something must have come out of torque in the suspension. I have different shocks (Fox), coils (Clayton), and the LCAs from the Mopar 2” lift kit. Was planning to get under the Beast and re-check torque on everything. Did you ever have any further issue with this after tightening up the torque on the LCAs? Assume you torqued them back to 190 ft-lb?

No issues since…just over torqued the LCAs a little. I’ve since put a RockKrawler 2.5 lift and Fox 2.5s. We over torqued those also a little. No problems.

Great, thanks for the reply. This was the only mod I had a shop do instead of doing myself because I don’t have a lift and didn’t want the hassle of working on 4 corners of suspension with jacks and axle stands. Told them to make sure they torqued LCAs properly, but guessing they didn’t and they’ve worked loose a bit. It’s been driving me crazy. Thanks again, very much appreciated!!

I swapped the LCAs myself, torqued to 190 and retorqued after driving a week, it did come loose a bit. So if the shop didn’t retorque the LCA bolts, they maybe overtorqued or undertorqued if they used impact wrench.

@BenLandry yes “paper thin” brackets, I really can’t understand why they don’t make those brackets stronger. I was afraid I would break them when I swapped the LCAs.

I feel that 190 foot lbs is too much. 10.9 or grade 8 does not call for torque that high. And if you use loctight that is considered a lubricant. And torque needs to be reduced by 20%... Rockhard calls for front lower CAs to be torqued to 190.. I have pulled up multiple bolt torque spec sheets. I agree that ca bracket are way to thin

Sure enough, it was the front LCAs being under torqued. The frame-side bolts were still at 190, but the axle-side bolts on both sides were definitely not. I also have the Rock Hard LCA skids on the front which replace the stock nut/bolt with a longer bolt and add spacers between the LCA mount and skid. They still spec the 190 torque value, so I’m assuming the shop either didn’t torque them down all the way or the bolt/spacer/skid combo is affecting the torque hold and I’ll need to keep monitoring. Anyway, once retorqued I took it for a drive and the issue is thankfully resolved.

Sounds like the local dealer here where I live. The only time I took my 392 in to the local dealer was with just over 20K miles on it to have the battery checked out which they determined to be bad and replaced under warranty, while there, I also had them perform it's last Jeep Wave oil change. This was the first time for this Jeep being serviced at this dealership because of their poor reputation but I didn't want to risk driving it 70 miles to a Tucson dealer with the bad battery as well as not knowing how long I would have to leave it. The local dealer charged me $46 for the Jeep Wave oil change claiming there was a $46 deductable on the 392s (got a refund from Jeep Wave) and to top it off (no pun intended) the Engine was a quart and a half overfull which they claimed all 392s take almost 8 quarts of oil for an oil and filter change. They were speechless when I showed them the owner's manual which stated 6.7 Quarts with filter change. I'm just glad that my "early Version" 2021 392 Rubicon (First 6 months of production) has not had more problems requiring dealer/warranty support. BTW, the local dealer has not to this day received an allocation for ordering a 392 Rubicon. They did acquire one from an auction in Phoenix with less than 1K miles on it and they were initially asking $99K for it which they eventually sold for an unknown amount. Questionable about why a 392 Rubicon winds up at an auction with under 1K miles on it. Thoughts anyone?

I just looked on the floor at dealership they had a non xr 87 k while having work done I don’t know if they are up charging anything

So I've had my 2024 for about 1 month now and last night I remote started it.... then it shut off.... I was like hmmm. got in and check engine light is on. and NO power steering AT ALL. Good thing the store was only about a mile from home and I did not have to turn much, cause a 392 with no power steering SUCKS!!!!!!.

I got home and turned it off and back on... and I have power steering back????? but still had a check engine light. This morning, no light and power steering... not sure what the hell was going on.
BUT other than that and the broken windshield I LOVE THE THING!!!!

Probably not directly related. I had to top off the steering fluid, low from factory.

If you have not done so already, check your fuses and make sure they are all seated properly ✌️
