Oil changes every 6 months.

It does seem those of use who deviate, are most commonly sharing woes. Again, this is anecdotally.

Here's an anecdotal woes for a laugh....
On my first wrangler (jk) I did not keep to the 5k/6m rule. Back then I was "poor" and pushed the time and distance between oil changes. I knew better but there were only so many living expenses that I could control and oil changes was one of them.

One day it just took a crap. I had to replace valves at 38k miles.

Glad I went through that time of life though.....every day was hard but I learned a lot and in hindsight have many good memories. Sometimes I miss it.

Just took advantage of the Jeep Wave free oil change. The dummy sticker they put on the windshield, reflected 5k or 6 months. I asked, and the trisomy started Jeep is suggesting this here of late.

There are many discussions there. I am not on any of the Dodge groups, I wonder if the same schedule is recommended there.

My 2019 Challenger 6.4L oil change requirement was 6 months/6,000 miles.

Same for the GC SRT. I am thinking they are pushing the 5k due to the tight engine bay and higher heat. IDK... Only an assumptions. I do every 5k anyway.

Or, as it’s somewhat known, their blend probably doesn’t last more than 6 months.
Every oil manufacturer has different life expectancy of their fluids, synthetics and conventional.
Depending on their specific ingredients, determines the general aging of 6 months to 2 years.
Look at Amsoil. They claim 1 year or 25k miles. Others, claim 6 months or 10k.
Pennzoil uses a natural gas base. Interesting, as many start with Petroleum based. Maybe the natural gas based ages out sooner.

6 months (or other monthly intervals) is generally related to moisture build up if you don’t drive your car often.

IMO if you test it, you could very likely go longer. If you don't test, like others mentioned, why not for piece of mind. You could likely even not change the filter if you tryin to save a few bucks.

I change mine before it’s “due” because I’m fairly OCD when it comes to fluid changes. I do think it’s funny that Mobil 1 was the original SRT oil back in the day and Penzoil is now based on their $$$ partnership with FCA / Stellantis. There’s always lots of money in marketing tied to oil that’s for sure.

After draining, I pour 1/2-3/4 quart of fresh, clean oil in the engine and let it flow through, just to push out the final little bit of sludge from the pan.

Can't say I've ever done that. Definitely extra thorough. I just buy enough oil for replacement but generally never more. I may consider doing such in the future.

I have never done that to help clean out the sludge. What I did do recently for my 392 oil change was install the Valvo Max drain valve. I've never been a fan of drain valves but thought I would try one. My main concern was that the valve could leave some oil left in the pan. So after letting the oil drain normally for a long time I installed the Valvo max valve and poured in exactly 8 oz of oil then opened the drain valve to see how much came out. I did get exactly 8 oz back but I noticed it was visibly darker than when I poured it in.
