My Thoughts on the Banks Pedal Monster

A splitter is a little different in that a bypass cable will leave port open for dealership to scan, if needed.

@ibc392 and all: I'm considering adding a Banks PedalMonster. But what are recommended settings when off-roading, rock crawling, etc?

Jay from Banks here. This is our OBD splitter... Although almost any splitter will do. About 30% of iDash owners also have AMP power steps. They do not conflict. My good friend Eric is AMP's lead mechanical engineer. ;) Here he is installing my steps.

For off-roading and rock-crawling, I recommend using the Low Speed Trim settings. This reduces PedalMonster's added sensitivity below 10 MPH. The higher you set Low Speed Trim, the less it will add. As you exceed 10 MPH, it will add power gradually until you reach Sport 2, or whatever setting you left it.

For clarification, PedalMonster does not have a "Rock Crawling" mode like some other devices. This is on purpose. We do not offer any modes that reduce pedal sensitivity because it's dangerous. If the unit should fail, or simply revert to stock, you could lurch forward and rear-end someone. Or worse, you could send it off a cliff. Low Speed Trim is perfect because you get the best of both worlds... a stock pedal at slow speeds and modified pedal when you need it, at highway speeds.

Jay, thank you so much!

Obviously, we may be getting into personal preferences, but just to clarify: you believe the approach described above would be superior to simply returning the Jeep to stock when off-road?

Chris

Essentially, the Jeep will be stock at speeds slower than 10MPH. This keeps you from having to adjust the sensitivity every time you go on and off road. To recap, I'd keep it set to Sport 2, or wherever you like it for daily driving. Then, adjust Low Speed Trim to the highest setting. This will give you the best of both worlds.

Lightning!! Love your podcast. Didnt know you were lurking in this forum - so cool.
Love the Banks pedal monster- great accessory!

After installing PedalMonster, anyone having issues reported on non-Jeep forums such as CEL, P2101 code (pops up when the Engine Control Module (ECM) detects throttle actuator control motor (TAC) has gone out of range), "collision alerts," heating and air conditioning effects, loss of camera functionality or dysfunction of display screen or apps?

Thanks!

No been running it for almost 2 years

Regarding dealership visits for service, can you simply remove from OBD2 (I assume that removes from power and returns vehicle to stock) and leave in place without completely removing device?

Clarification: I am concerned regarding OBD2 accessibility and stock functionality while with dealership. I am not concerned with hiding its use for warranty issues. Thanks.

Thought I'd revive this thread as I'm interested in ordering a Banks Pedal Monster. For those that have one, If you'd be so kind to offer your longterm feedback and opinions It'd be most appreciated. Some background info...I do have the Tazer, NoLimitz, and Amp steps.
Thank you in advance.
