My Thoughts on the Banks Pedal Monster

After seeing the above post, I called them just to make sure and they confirmed that the unit is indeed the same for the Diesel as well as our 392's. (y)
Just ordered as well. Got the iDash superguage bundle with the ODB splitter and suction mount. Thanks for all the reviews!

What are you planning to add on the OBDII port? I have the PM with Data Monster, no splitter. Also for those considering they have notice of price increase on 10/28, looks like $360.

Splitter for future potential devices - scanner/dash cam power or whatever. For $30 I figure why not. Also I did get the current $299 pricing- bundled w the iDash was $575

Ok, they caution that the extra port on the splitter works with their products and the ecm can get confused with 2 devices, ie a scanner. The iDash can scan and clear codes if needed.

Why do you need the idash?
This definitely falls out of the “needs “category, and into the “just because” rationale.

What it does provide, though is on the fly functionality, as you can make adjustments while the vehicle is moving, otherwise, you have to use your phone, which is disabled while in motion.

In addition, it does give you access to other data points (oil temps/error codes, etc) and allow you to set notifications (e.g. oil temp threshold).

Gotcha. I just use my phone to adjust. It lets you adjust as long as you take your foot off the gas. I figured all the other monitoring gauges were just a duplicate of what we already have on off road pages, etc. It wasn't clear what it did beyond what we already have access to so I didn't order the idash.

Thanks for that. If that is the case, good chance I return it. hopefully my jeep is back from dealer before the return window closes.

Phone works great, plus the unit remembers the last setting even if you don’t have your phone w you.

Which connector do I need? Banks’ website says both are for Jeeps

If you have Pedal Monster plugged into OBDII port will the Uconnect app still work remotely from phone? (Remote start, unlock/lock doors, read milage and fuel level, send nav destination from phone to Uconnect).

Iv'e been told if anything is plugged into OBDII port the phone remote function of the Uconnect will no longer work?

Yes it’ll still work as far as remote functions like start/ lock / unlock. You just won’t get your monthly health reports/ fuel level etc from Uconnect.

I called Banks, they said there is a feature you can turn OFF, with connected phone app in Pedal Monster menu...this should allow all features of remote Uconnect to work as intended? Said you do loose any PM system monitoring and safety reverse feature, but Pedal Monster still works?

Tech only referenced to issues they had with GM customers calling in saying OnStar wasn't working. Said, once feature is turned OFF, OnStar reports and features were restored.

But no one has said, yes all Uconnect features with work?
Anyone that has the Banks Pedal Monster know about this?

Have you tried turning OFF feature in PM menu?

Nope. I find the monthly Uconnect report to be useless so I never messed with it. The remote functions work fine including the vehicle locator. FYI The safety reverse feature is one of pedal monsters best features.

Are you still able to send a trip destination to your GPS Uconnect remotely from your phone, with PM plugged into OBD-II port?

Never tried that. I typically just pull it up on my phone and use CarPlay when I need to.
