Matt's 392 Build

Installed the Outback Adventures Trailgater tailgate table this afternoon.

The bamboo cutting board is raw, I want to get some food grade bamboo cutting board oil for it to give it a darker stain and seal it.

I have the same table (and color of Jeep 392). I dont think my board was unfinished wood. In fact the cutting board reeked of some sort of finish applied that I let it air out on the back patio for a few days. I like the table but in my case it rattles if you dont have the cutting board installed.

Installed the Outback Adventures Trailgater tailgate table this afternoon. Took all of about 10 minutes. Looks real good and the Hammertone Grey matches real well with the Granite Crystal.

Love it- the gray is almost a perfect match! For the bamboo cutting board... this is what you need:

Howard Cutting Board Oil and Conditioner

I've used it on several bamboo cutting boards and works great.

Can I ask a favor? Can you measure how far out the table extends away from the tailgate when its stowed? I have some tight tolerances in the back of my ride due to oversized fridge but would love to pick this up if I can make it fit. The Goose Gear table protrudes too far.

Thanks for the recommendation on the oil, I’ll definitely check it out. I’m at an event for work today, I’ll measure for you when I get home later tonight and get back to you.

I'll get some measurements soon but I bet it sticks out from the tailgate just as much as the Goose Gear. With very little room to spare and careful placement I was able to fit my Dometic CFX3 45 on drivers side without interfering with the rear seat or tailgate. It was close. Here is a top view from when I was installing.

Looks like about 1.75” from the back of the tailgate to the edge of the tailgate table

Since we're comparing Goose Gear with Trailgater - Am I right that Trailgater offers quite a bit more cutting board surface than the GG? I believe it extends more.

Oh my god. This AWE exhaust has the PERFECT sound! Looks great, nice and tucked. I drove the whole way home from the shop grinning ear to ear listening to the new tone. None of the videos online do it justice. If you’re on the fence, get it!

Also had some of the rear pinch seam of the tub trimmed to keep the 38s from rubbing. So much more clearance now. Unfortunately I forgot to take a before picture but we removed about an inch and a half of steel from the tub.

Added a dual USB to the upper dash to power devices mounted to the bulletpoint mount. I was able to connect everything to CarPlay thanks to the below post on the JL Forum. Only thing I did different was split the CarPlay USB into a dual, instead of having a separate powered and car play USB plug. Im just waiting on a 90 degree USB adapter to hook up the second cable.

A- USB-B from Jeep UConnect
B- USB-B to Jeep media plugs in lower console
C- To dual USB port added to upper dash

Thanks! Longest part was dropping a screw into the air vents into the upper dash, then dropping the tweezers into the air vent trying to get the screw 🤣. Took about an hour to get them both out. Excluding that install only took about an hour, everything is plug and play.

Installed a set of 8 Quake RGBW rock lights.

Wiring took the better part of the day. Lots of trial and error on where to route the cables, I learned a lot about the crevices on the underside of the Jeep.

In addition to the kit I did need 4 of their RGBW 6’ extension cables. Each light comes with 10’ of cable. I wired the controller to the Aux 3 switch, but can be controlled via Bluetooth with an app.

The tires do cast a little bit of a shadow so I may play around a little bit with the placement a bit, the shadow looks much more exaggerated in the pictures.

Front fender lights were affixed by screwing right into the fender liner.

Sides and rear were affixed to the body and frame using 2x 25lb magnets.

I like how there is a separate White LED in each pod so it puts out pure white light. On camera it appears slightly yellow for some reason but in person it’s pure white light.

The RGB function has a full color wheel to choose from, as well as various light show modes that cycle through colors at set intervals or in sync with music.

I love that!! I want to do that and then wire in to RSE side steps/puddle lights as well

Thanks! The pictures don’t really do it justice, looks much better in person.

I want to wire the rock lights to the curtesy lights in addition to the aux switch so they turn on when I unlock the Jeep as well, but I have to figure if possible because the curtesy lights dim off and the voltage drop can cause the lights to do funky things and damage the controller. I’ve seen people successfully wire white only rock lights without a controller to the curtesy lights but not RGB ones with a controller.

Good idea with the rock lights connected to the courtesy lights.

I believe there is a fuse, but not positive. I have seen people tap into the curtesy light wiring under the driver footwell, but not the fuse. Fuse would probably be better and would avoid having to run wiring into the cabin of the vehicle and back under the hood. I’ll look into this and see what I can find.

Been a little while since posting in here, have been crazy busy with work the past few months.

Did a little winterizing today. Had my local shop coat the suspension components, underside of the body, and inside of the frame rails with fluid film. Smells terrible, but the shop owner said that should go away in a week or so. To prep for the winerizing I sanded down and painted over some rust spots on the control arms and control arm brackets from bashing them against the rocks.

Overall very happy with the result, this should do a good job protecting against the brine over the winter.

Great to hear from you again on the forum. You know the easiest way to winterize? Move south.

Looks incredible. Great work.
