Kill Switch

I've got a kill switch on my TRX, mounted inline behind the start button and I hid it behind the lower kick panel. (Found on a TRX forum, maybe that harness works on the 392 too?) Works great but was still wanting more. Had IGLA installed, 6 button presses and I can start right up. I did get the Drone Mobile but it sent notifications every time I opened the door and started bugging me. Didn't renew the sub on that one.

Reason went IGLA instead of Ravelco is I didn't want to carry something else around. Don't know much about the differences between the two, but apparently I'm in with the Russians now. ("Russia, Russia, Russia" LOL)

I did ask Air'd Out about installers on another forum and he made a few suggestions and I got a great guy in Southern CA to do the install. Didn't know if he was a distributor or not but, really, who cares? He helped me out after I made my decision anyway.

Standalone drone will do that unless you open app and press unlock, then when you lock the door you do the same and press lock. Or you can turn preshock warning down inside of the app and it will help tremendously

Ya got me. I don't know how any of it actually fits together. I can ask our Crime Prevention Coordinator about that when I call her this week. Thanks.

So, I emailed our Crime Prevention Coordinator to ask about LoJack utilization in Seattle. Her reply:

Good afternoon Jay,

Thank you for reaching out and for your patience while I looked into this matter.

What I learned is that SPD is moving away from the traditional LoJack systems, but we do not have a date as to when anything new is rolling out.

We have heard that folks have utilized tracking tags and placed those in their cars. Those seem to work.

Warmest regards,

Surprised they even answered.

There are no new units rolling out.

She is ill informed. Air tags only work if the speakers are removed and that person stealing it or someone in the immediate vicinity has a compatible phone that will transmit the coordinates. Getting a hidden unit lije a drone x1 max is a far better option and has security sensors built in.

Me too, seems to be a quick vague answer to a question she knows nothing about
Yea exactly, I was gonna comment also, that most police depts have no idea about anti theft. When larger departments with auto theft task force or vice, sometimes those guys are pretty well up to date but frankly theres more actual device knowledge on this forum, or on the TRX forums than in 90% of PDs.

Police depts usually get their street device knowledge of a technical nature from reports or guidelines released by their states AG. who also don’t have a clue.

Years back I remember getting a memo about thieves targeting cars that didn’t have window etching, like as if the window etching has ever saved any vehicle and as if the dumbass on the street is like oh damn the window were about to break is etched better run away. 🙄

That was one benefit of the old LoJack system, there was a lot of education provided to depts.

Ram-trx is actually the go to for anti theft information. Its crazy how many calls and messages I get from people looking for information and installer locations because 80% of the current factual anti theft information is on that forum. Got a call from Toronto last week 😂. This page could have more information but its not wanted until its too late 🤷‍♂️

So on the TRX forum, I learned that a simple kill switch could be added without cutting into the factory harness and still retain remote start, so added it to my TRX. I then took apart my 392 dash to expose the start stop button, and I found it has the same wire pattern. So I made one for the 393. Hiding the switch is up to you as to where to locate it.

The picture shows the harness I bought and you only use 2 connectors and some of the wire for the remote switch. I used a quality SPST switch. Took about 1 hour to modify and install. Pulling the dash is easy (YouTube it).
The red wires are the wires to connect to the switch. The green stripe wire and the red stripe wire get soldered together.
I used the grey wires from the kit to extend the red wires to the kill switch.

I used TESA tape to wrap it up. Including the connectors. This tape sucks to take apart.

Cost is about $70. Cheaper if you source the connectors and pins.

Here is the TRX setup.

Do you guys know if the TRX ignition module will work with our 392’s? I bought one of JW2’s kits to relocate the factory start button but the Mopar ignition module is a lot bulkier than the one above. Any info appreciated, also if any of you have done this does the dealer need to program the switch with your FOB for the dead battery/press FOB to Start button to work?

I had my local alarm shop install a kill switch. He installed and hid a simple toggle switch under the dash and he ran the wire to the starter fuse in the engine. He hid the wire using the same material as the factory harness wires. I also have some very good hood locks (none cheap Amazon). If that toggle switch is flipped, you can't start it at all. And the switch is hidden so well, that it would take hours to find it. However, like most vehicles, it does not stop them from putting it into neutral and pushing it or towing it.

Unfortunately that is incorrect. If you know where it is so do the thieves. Posting where they are and hooked up just gives them more information. It also does nothing to stop them from deleting and making a new fob at which time will cost you a hefty penny to get reversed. IGLA blocks all of that and more.

I installed a kill switch in my TRX when I first got it (very quick and easy to do). Scheduled IGLA installation shortly after. That took about a week or so to get him over to install.

Had someone attempt to steal the truck last week., IGLA stopped them. A kill switch will slow someone down, that's about it. From what I understand, you can hide that switch anywhere but it has to be connected behind the start button, that's where they attack it. At least that's how my switch works.

Either way, garage it if you can.

Let's be honest, if someone wants your vehicle bad enough, they're going to steal it regardless of what security you may have. Yeah, there's some security devices that will make it harder, but someone with enough time and tools will get it. This is why you have good insurance. I have the lockdown security update, so they can't delete my keys or create a new one. Of course, they can clone the fob.

Thank you for the info. I had not heard of IGLA, I will have to see if there's an install place around me.

Faraday bag....
That works when you are at home and not driving it. Takes a fraction of a second to capture the signal and you need to remove it to start and drive the vehicle. They can capture it 1000 miles from your vehicle if the key fob is there and then go take the vehicle. IGLA blocks all of that and more.

Only way they can take a IGLA mopar vehicle with the neutral pull disabled is dragging it or a flatbed. That argument is moot. You can have no drivetrain or wheels and still accomplish that. They also need to find where IGLA is installed and that isn’t happening in the 5 total minutes they might have in your vehicle.

What was the cost to have the IGLA installed in your 392?
