Oil Catch Can

I know there is a lot of controversy on the need for this. Do you have any personal experience with this and reputable information on the benefit of having one installed?

any warranty issues if installed? I know they have specific ones. What does everyone recommend?
Do you have one to recommend? I want to get one ordered ASAP.. wife just took it to Maine and back so I’m over 500 miles already..
The 392 is port injected, so the benefits of having a catch can is probably not as beneficial as if it was a direct injected engine. It won't hurt to have one, but most likely it is not necessary.

I agree…no need on the 392. However, I installed one from Livernois Motorsports on my TrackHawk because of the supercharger and the individual cylinder injectors.

IMO a catch can will keep the intake manifold from getting gummed up with carbon deposits. I will install one on my Jeep. There is no downside to installing one and should not void the warranty.
I installed the locking hood latches on the 392 today and as I was looking at the engine bay, I remembered this post. In our 392 Rubicons, the alternator is where most people install an oil catch can on their 392 vehicles. Has anyone installed one yet? If so, where and can you post some pictures?

Until someone comes out with a Jeep Wrangler 392 specific kit you would have to design or crossfit your own...

Thank you for your reply! Yeah, I was looking at that same spot. I didn't know about the oil catch can bracket options available. Thanks for that. Anyone who does this successfully, please share. I'll post if I think of something as well.

This one may be the winner. Nice! I may actually do it. Again, I don't think port injected engines need it, but it won't hurt to have one. Will you install one?
Do you have an update one this oil catch can/separator? I would think it needs to be installed lower to allow a better drainage/flow.

I had a catch can on my 3.6 wrangler and was shocked at the amount of oil it kept out of the intake and from entering the combustion chambers.

Curious... How much added value do these catch cans provide? Why is it a good idea to have one installed? I understand that blow-by oil is filtered, but why is a little (very small amount) of oil so bad? From one oil change to the next approximately how much oil is being filter? An ounce? More? Really, I know very little about these cans, actually I never even considered getting one until I started seeing people talk about them on these forums. Any input is appreciated.

I used an extra Coilhose Pneumatics filter I had laying around. I tried one spot using a CB antenna mounting bracket I also had laying around. The Hydroguide hits it since the bracket was too long.
I'm considering the two spots you show in your pictures @Membrain . I think I'd prefer the corner between the radiator and alternator. I just need to think of a bracket able to hold my specific filter. I really like it because it is heavy duty, compact, and has a sight glass.
