🛠️ What did you do to your Jeep 392 today?

I put these on and really liked the look but they were completely useless because where I needed to step was where the tube is. So the AMP powersteps it was.
My buddy still has these too, but he bought them for the price, not function. He would never spend anywhere close to $2k for steps. I really like my AMP's for now and they do just about all the trails around me without dragging. IF I ever change it will be for Rock Slide Engineering steps/sliders.

Note: If you ever hear a high pitch screeching noise when the steps go up, here's the fix. FF to 2:17 and notice the pin sticking out. Pound it back in and bolt the motor back on. No need to disassemble the motor. It just happened to me on the passenger side.

If you are going to offroad, I would use Rock Slide instead of AMP. You can use Rock Slide as a rock rail, the AMP ones won't hold up to that. Just what I have seen from friends that had them here in the Southwest.

Agree 100%, but you can get away with a lot before you start scraping. Mine is setup more overlander (2.5" lift on 35's) than rock crawler.

Just got my jeep back from the local shop by my house. I added a teraflex 3.5in rt lift, falcon 3.3 shocks, teraflex steering stabilizer, tazer mini, fuel rebel 5s, and nitto 38s to my 2024 Wrangler 392.

I hear mixed reviews on going with the 38s on a dana 44 axle but I did not do an aggressive offset (tires are tucked in how I wanted them). Hopefully I will get a few years of fun wheeling out of them before I have to upgrade!

I installed the Rhino Rack Pioneer Platform with Backbone. Roam case and Baja Designs LP9 spot lights will be mounted soon.

I wheel pretty dang hard on 40’s with a lot of offset and never have had issues with the 44. I have a couple of friends that do the same without issues.

To me, it's an upgrade when it breaks but I have 12,000 miles on 37s and 8,000 miles on 40’s.

I have to agree. I've currently got a JK on 35's with the D44s, and the 392 on 37's. My hardest core off roader was a V8 swapped YJ on 40's. D44 front, 12-bolt rear. Ran some of the most difficult trails around without any problem. I do think 40's are pushing the limits for a D44, but there are sooooo many other factors involved.

Remind me what gears you are running. I have a non XR in September 23 Jeep took that off the options list so I have 3.73 gears but I would like to run nitto ridge grapplers 38 load range c of course. But I really don’t want to regear . If I had the 4.56 I would not hesitate.

Thanks

Something has to be the weak point, right?

3:73s. I would run 4:88 but not putting any money in stock axles.

Of course. But, with some thought, you can make the weak point something cheap and easy to repair. On that YJ, The propshafts had smaller U-joints at the rear. So if/when one blew while the Jeep was moving, it would drag, not pogo. It also had manual hubs. I installed hub fuses, so that was the first thing to break. Replacing it required one Allen wrench. It cost a couple bucks. Not an option with more modern D44s, of course.

I always have to justify my stupid choices in my own head.

That makes me feel alot better. My goal was to have the tucked in look with a beefy tire to fill out the rubicon fenders which I definitely achieved with the 38s. I am definitely going to have to upgrade the power steering pump this summer now as mine overheated every weekend in CO!

Stock - 4.56. I did not notice much of a power difference from 35s to 38s but I'm down about 2mpg average so far which is to be expected.

The past few weeks there have been a few things that have gone onto the car. My favorite thing, it got lifted!

Metalcloak 3.5' Gamechanger w/ Fox 3.0 DSC's, Artec Industries Full Axle Truss Kit and Adams Driveshafts 1350 Heavy Duty Front and Rear. Its riding on BFG 37x12.5r17 tires.
