The Shooter’s Thread

Well, since I am a law-abiding citizen, I just made sure that my new Glock 43X MOS had magazines that were fully compliant with the magazine capacity mandates in Colorado (15 rounds, as of this writing).

It only cames from the factory with 10-round magazines, which is clearly out of compliance with the 15-round mandate, so I purchased some Shield Arms steel magazines and the Shield Arms magazine catch / release (metal). I installed the upgraded magazine catch, and now I am able to use 15-round magazines and be fully compliant with Colorado law. 😁

Now to go shoot this thing and see how good a job I did of bore sighting the RDO last night while I was trolling the 20A thread. 🤣

Glock 43X MOS is my CCW and it shoots so well and feels so right. I like it better than my Glock 19.

Good to hear you also got the shield arms magazine release to go with their 15 round magazine. Many people had issue because they only had the magazine.

I absolutely love my 19.4... It is my favorite handgun, and to me exudes that "Perfection" tagline Glock is known for. I can carry it comfortably IWB, Problem is, it just prints too much in the warmer months. I use it for winter months and open carry situations. I love the finger grooves in the Gen 4's grip, too, but that's probably because it happens to be ergonomically perfect for my hand. I can understand why people whose hands the grooves do not fit would want a grip without them.

Being some of us like the little pew-pews, I thought I would redirect traffic here to avoid ay wayward verbal spats.
Enjoy!

Another member asked about the indoor laser target system I bought.

What a great thread!
Glock 29 in each rig and a g43 for CC.
Good dryfire app - livefire app. Solid training and good community.

Compatible with Alien Gear Shape Shift Shell... This is the picture I posted in my build thread that got that one guy from Florida that's upset with me in the 20A thread all worked up about how I didn't need a gun. Which led to me buying another gun, and another holster. And another RDO, and.... Yeah, let's just say this picture has cost me over $1200 so far. :ROFLMAO:

You rock. I love this forum.

any of you guys got a good mounting position for your pistol in your jeep ?
I have used center console molle and then a holster mounted under steering column. Now ordered the same system also shown by @392OVRLND - CMM adapter for alien gear shell. I like the fact that looks more secure in a little bit more out-of-the-way, then the steering column mount. Molle panel was cool, but it did interfere when pushing the seat forward and got in the way of knees occasionally.

Shape Shift Shell should be here tomorrow, then I need to modify it for the RDO since it's designed for the 43X and not the 43X MOS. Should be pretty easy.

After that, I'll install it and post a few pictures. I miiiiight hold off on the pictures until I get some other little bits in for the 43X MOS that will make the photos more visually appealing...

I understand some of you guys prefer to use a gun mount in the jeep, mounting locations may vary. For me, I simply don't use any mount. I always do the Inside the Waistband Appendix Carry. When I'm in vehicle, I just tuck my shirt and have the seat belt route behind the magazine. I can quick draw and get out the vehicle quickly too. I never leave my weapon in any vehicle. That's what works best for me. And when I get pulled over, I roll down the window and put my two hands on the steering wheel, also inform the officer politely that I have a CCW permit to avoid any surprise.

I was wondering on the rear seat if you could mount an AR somehow? Don't have my Jeep yet

I typically leave mine holstered IWB when running around town, and I agree on how to handle the officer interactions and never leaving the weapon in a vehicle (unless you HAVE to go to the Post Office or another fed .gov building, and for those situations, I'm still looking for a lock box that will work with the rest of what I have planned).

The mount is for longer trips where I want to be comfortable sitting for long periods of time, or for off-road situations where my torso is being tossed around a bit.

I don't know about the back seat, but there a few decent options for overhead mounting.

I really like this one for the rear... it sits up high, out of sight to prying eyes...

Tuffy is also making a box that mounts to the tailgate that looks like it might hold a shorter rifle.

I seem to vaguely remember one that was made for the JKU, but it is not something I liked / was interested in, so I don't remember where I saw it so not sure if whatever brand it was makes something for the JLU.

There is something called the "HeatPack" but I think it relies on mounting a bar between the front headrests that attaches to the inner headrest riser on each headrest. Still not personally a fan of this. For general use around town, I like a more discrete approach to carrying rifles. For extended periods in the backcountry, I could see how such a mount could prove useful for rifles and shotguns, or on hunting trips, but I usually have my rear seats folded down when I'm out in the backcountry and that would negate the use of the HeatPack mount entirely.

I seem to remember there being some system that mounted up in the roof on the back row of seats that got them up out of the way and hid them from view a bit, but it may have been for the gladiator, hough I don't imagine the roof above the rear seats would be much different in the JLU?

There was also this sport cage-mounted fold down "cargo tray" thing for the JKU back in the day that made use of the ceiling cavity in the cargo area above where the back lift glass stops. It was pretty discrete, but not sure if they make that for the JLU as well...

That's the flip down thing I was thinking of for the cargo area. Morryde.
I like the one posted for sale at Extreme Terrain but the pictures are a little too close, I cant quite understand what is the stowed or deployed positions.

Here's a similar option (for the JK) but it shows how those fit into the negative space near the underside of the hard top. Note: I believe these only work with a hard top.... the soft top cannot fold down with these in the way. That was a deal breaker for me...

Actually, I retract my previous statement. That one is NOT the one I was thinking of that existed for the JKU. The one I was thinking of is called the JKVault, which I guess is now made (or owned by) WD Automotive, and was formerly called the Grenadeacorp GCP-1.

The only site that still seems to have it listed is GraBarsUSA's site, and it shows as out of stock.

I have a friend that had one on his old JKU and it was fantastic, and was well built.

Something like that for the JLU would be awesome. I'm surprised there seems to be a gap in the market for this at this time.

I think that box by Tuffy is available. I’ve seen some other variations as well, that lock, and could also hold ammo.
I considered putting a shockwave in one for my rig.

That’s pretty sweet!
