That sucks. Hopefully yours doesn’t throw intermittent service lights like my new transfer case did. Made me nervous as heck.Dealer ordered a new transfer case for mine. Supposed to arrive Friday.

Sadly no. It would just intermittently throw them and then they would go away on their own. My Jeep never left me on the side of the road, but it made me nervous enough that I didn’t trust it for a long trip so I traded it in. We still have a second 392 that has never given us an ounce of trouble.Did you get any resolution after throwing codes?
I would like to know if there’s been any buddy who’s experience the symptoms and NOT had a transfer case failure.Hello all! New member here. I’m about four weeks into owning a 392 (traded in my 2020 Gladiator for a 2021 392 w/10k miles) and just had my first experience with the “Serv 4WD” indicator. It came on Saturday evening after a short trip to drop off a kid. I did leave the Jeep idling but for no more than 10 minutes before leaving from dropping off the kid and noticed the indicator on my way home. I experienced the difficulty turning at slow speeds. I didn’t drive the Jeep the following day but did start it up to see if the indicator was still there which it was. I decided to bring it to the dealership on Monday but when I started it up that morning, the indicator was gone and everything seemed fine and still is as of right now. I plan to monitor and see if it comes back on before doing anything else.
I brought it to the dealer anyways for the 10k mile maintenance and they could see a code “DTCM” in the computer but that’s all they could tell me unless I wanted to leave it there for several days so they could run a diagnostic.
Anyways, just wanted to chime in with my experience for future reference. I’m loving the 392 though!
I mean I haven’t had a transfer case failure and I’ve been struck with this light on and off since 2k or something almost at 31k nowI would like to know if there’s been any buddy who’s experience the symptoms and NOT had a transfer case failure.
Are you running a Tazer ?Hello all! New member here. I had the service 4 wheel drive light many times and have not changed out my transfer case. I have NOT seen the light come on again since I found and removed the hidden GPS tracker unit the dealer had installed on my Jeep. I swear the tracker was causing the problem because it was tied into the OBD2 port. You might want to look for a tracker because most dealers are now installing them so they can repo your Jeep if you stop paying.I would like to know if there’s been any buddy who’s experience the symptoms and NOT had a transfer case failure.
No. 100% stock 392.Are you running a Tazer ?
My advice when you take it in to dealer make sure you call Stellantis via Jeep Wave and have them open you a corporate ticketNo. 100% stock 392.
MOPAR must be kicking out more of our TCs seeing the demand increase. That's ominous......"lost in shipment" as mine is currently sitting in the dealership awaiting a new TC as well......
Alrighty all........I have a 2023 stock 392......just slightly over 8k mileage, and roughly a month ago made a 900 plus mile drive..... 78 mph cruise control set maybe at times intermittently more to pass another vehicle....3/4 the way got this dreaded, vague, ominous serv 4wd cursed light.......it cleared originally after returning after that drive, but after a few days came back on. I also experienced the tight turning issue like some others here have faced in forward and reverse as if lockers were engaged and as if being in 4 low.....few more days later that tight turning was no longer existent but the serv 4wd was still on.....additionally, after finding this forum went through the fuses, and the sensor connections with no prevail :/ in short dealership said that they discovered "metal shavings" in the TC fluid but luckily nothing wrong down into the diffs.....further more 2 plus weeks waiting on a new TC....sorry above that you are/were at 45 days
Mopar doesn’t make the transfer case. It is a company named Magna Powertrain.MOPAR must be kicking out more of our TCs seeing the demand increase.
We should have got the sport TC and a Dana 60 rear from the factory.
43 days*That's ominous......"lost in shipment" as mine is currently sitting in the dealership awaiting a new TC as well......

Agreed!!!!......I get it there aren't many 392's as other JL variations but considering I've got a 4th year 2023 392 and Jeep hasn't addressed this by now and thrown up a red flag recall???? Common'MOPAR must be kicking out more of our TCs seeing the demand increase.

Same issue for me. Also used a Tazer Mini. Not saying the Tazer is the cause, but it is an interesting data point at a minimum. Finally got mine back after 43 days at the dealer. Original transfer case ordered was supposedly lost in shipment.
Did you set the 392 to 2 wheel drive with the tazer mini?Same issue for me. Also used a Tazer Mini. Not saying the Tazer is the cause, but it is an interesting data point at a minimum.
Transfer case was ordered two weeks ago, still waiting for it to arrive and haven't been able to drive the 392 for 3 weeks now. This sucks.
