Rotopax

I've got to better understand these "Seasucker mounts" and how you have the Rotopax and water tank mounted. I looked at the Seasucker website...........so you have both of those mounted directly to the rear glass???? How did you mount the tanks to the Seasucker?
This is what I found

Some folks use this and personally I like it. Just the bracket too expensive.

I actually used that bracket, and it is "decent". It tends to wobble a bit when it is carrying a full Rotopax fuel tank, so not the most secure mount in the world, but acceptable. I stopped using it when I switched to 40" tires. Maximum tire size for that mount is 37" due to the spare tire interfering with the mount.

I used them on my last build as well but never will again. If you are in the sun, the expansion of fuel is horrible. They get distorted like a balloon. Then have fun opening them without fuel blowing everywhere.

Good to know.

I had thought about a fuel storage solution in the trunk, concerned about smell and security. There’s another member did the inside mount and he’s happy about it.

I'm surprised the Sea Suckers on the glass can handle the weight and vibrations.

I was looking for something like this...security is much better than a strap that can be cut. Although, nothing is 100% secure, it will deter thief's from steeling the container...they can still syphon the gas out.

My exact same thoughts. I just don't see how the rear glass, which is only mounted by two hinges, holds the weight of a full 2 gallon Rotopax and 4 gallons of water.

Maybe because the fact that the glass is NOT rigidly mounted helps???? Still seems like the weight alone would shift and shatter the glass.

Perfect for I would be looking for. But good lord!!!!!! The price just doesn't seem logical to me. It must be the gold inlay that I'm missing. But then again, I've spent money on other accessories that some people would say that were not worth the money.

Too bad it doesn’t work with the Teraflex carrier

This is a bit steep for a few pieces of metal. Doesn't appear to hold two canisters and doesn't look OEM. I'll holdout for the AEV tire carrier and fuel caddy. Yes, it's more $$$$, but you get what you pay. My Jeep shop will retro fit it to my OEM rear bumper.

This is what I'm holding out for as well. Plus, I want their rear bumper too. I already got slight body damage from the rear bumper pressing into the body when I was shuffling myself off of a shelf road and backing against the rock wall. I was really surprised how easily it is to compress that bumper into the body. I can even push it in by hand.

Doesn't work with the newer OEM carrier that doesn't have the accessory holes in it either. Only the older ones.

I haven't mentioned it in this thread but my LOD bumper has two Rotopax holders built in and is a great setup if you are thinking about a new bumper with a tire carrier.
This is not mine but gives you the idea:

Probably my one regret should have gone with after market bumper. As stated stock is flimsy. I had a Rockhard on my 05 LJ ,loved it.

Now that is a clean and secure setup! ...except the low hanging plug.

I use the RSE straps and they have been trouble free since the day I bought them… unfortunately they would be easy to steal so I wouldn’t get them if you park outside.

Another great option is from Seasucker. I have a friend that is a dealer and those things are amazing! Honestly, the windows will give up before they do!

I have several accessories and I made this holder for my buddy using a Seasucker mount, some PVC coupling, and a lathe.

Sorry for the late reply. Here's a picture of one of the sea sucker mounts that holds one Rotopax. It has two large suction cups, and the little plunger with the orange indicator is what you use to create the suction. When it is fully suck down the orange goes away. If you ever see the orange start to peak out, you pump it a few more times. I have had them mounted for three days and I've driven over washboard terrain, and everything is very secure. I think each one of the suction cups is rated to 80 pounds. There are a few good YouTube videos demonstrating the robustness of these amounts. I can remove these in about five seconds with no damage to any paint, rain, gutters, or anything else. They're not really cheap, but they're very high-quality.
