I have not used them, but I wonder if the side mounted ones would cause "wind whistling" at highway speeds. Anyone have that issue?

We always use the Rockslide Engineering spare tire strap. Super strong and no worries of damage on the trail.

Do you have a link to the side door mount you are considering? I like the RSE idea and I have that in my cart right now. Wondering what the other option is.

I used this on my last rig, unfortunately will not do it again on my current build. Put marks onto the hardtop and if you need to adjust it, may have issues with bolts being seized up. Happened twice to me and each time I had to purchase new pieces to replace.

Not to mention it cost $500 for a few pieces of stamped steel. They are pretty proud of that thing. At that price It looks like they want it more than I do.

I have never had an issue with mine and I used PPF where it mounts. That being said, I have never even filled the Rotopax with gas or anything else. I leave the PakRax installed just because I like the looks of it. It makes me look like a secret Overlander. ;)

I have both solutions.
On longer trips (using the 4g rotopak) I use the Pak Rak's and carry my LP inside. Shorter trips get a 2g rotopak/LP with the RSE strap on the spare tire.
Both work well.

This is one that I found . I saw it on a Jeep followed him and asked how he liked it , he said it works well but on wash board roads it can vibrate a bit so he stuffs a small piece of foam between the door and bracket 😵‍💫👎. I was hoping to find another vender . I like the idea and not adding any extra weight to the spare tire plus moving any weight forward .not that it’s much

Trying to keep my Rotopax off of the sides as a friend has his torn off on the Rubicon along with his drip rail. Only one shown in this picture, but I carry two.View attachment 43721

You do need to be careful...I too have scraped the passenger side rotopak coming into Rubicon Springs...fortunate not to have hard top damage

That’s another reason I don't use mine.
That's my primary reason for not wanting to go the PakRaks route, even though it's aesthetically my favorite. I'm not convinced that rain guard can handle the weight over time and I expect it to tear off. Especially with 4g, washboards, pot holes, etc. I really like the spare tire solution. An extra 24-36lbs (~6lbs per gal) of fuel shouldn't be an issue on the spare tire with the Mopar reinforced tailgate holding the stock 35" tire and wheel right?

I think the rain gutters are strong enough to hold 4 gallons of Rotopax. The reason that my friends were torn off was that they were rubbing against a rock and it scrape them off. If you don't think you'd ever be in that position, I think side mounting is fine.

It is call a "Waterport". holds 4 gallons of pressurized water. They are all on SeaSucker mounts.
I've got to better understand these "Seasucker mounts" and how you have the Rotopax and water tank mounted. I looked at the Seasucker website...........so you have both of those mounted directly to the rear glass???? How did you mount the tanks to the Seasucker?
