New 392 FE 170 Miles Suspected Transmission Oil Leak

Any more updates from anyone who has had the transmission leak? Have any of you had the leak continue beyond 1,500 (or 2,500-ish) miles?

Thanks!

Picked up my new 392 FE on Dec 24. Drove it home, started installing accessories, and crawled underneath. Found the oil drops you have been discussing. With only 84 km on the rig, I thought I was going to return it. But after reading this blog, I have decided to keep it, confident that the oil leak will stop. Thanks.

Congrats, don’t worry it should stop…I went through the ass pain for all lol. It’s just freaking crazy that it’s a thing with the 392s only…

I’ve never seen Jeeps fix themselves or cars, trucks etc.

Don’t tell Ice-T about this

Had 3 new 392’s checked for oil leaks today. 2 of 3 showed oil drips; they had been out on test drives. The dry one had not been test driven. Conclusion: this is a common thing; drips only on rigs that are driven and then checked. No check; no drip, haha.

I have 1800 miles on 2024 392 FE and still get the exact same oil drips - enough to drip on my garage floor and coat the black cover, cross member, and fluid lines.. I am going to be patient for another 1000 miles as I don't want to go through what others have (replacing major components) and really hoping it stops.. -
Note: Dealer at 850 miles said it was oil "coating on the parts" - but I can't believe it to be the issue.

Did it the oil drips stop ? Did they extend you warranty ?

Have only driven it another 20 km to the shop for a wrap to protect paint from scratches in the bush. Will check for drips when I get it back home next week. Expecting it to drip for a while before it dries up. I have discussed it with the dealer and a sent picture, so it is on record. Service Manager unaware of the issue till now. He is not aware of any TSB’s.

Shit don’t fix it self

Well, I now have a whopping 180 km on the new 392. Checked for transmission leak today: dry. Hallelujah.

Fingers crossed…but 180k is like 112 miles. Don’t know if you are in the clear yet, but good luck!

looks like you are one of the few, but looks good to me

So the dealer believes they found the cause of the oil drip issue after removing the transmission. The dynamic Oil drips were due to the Upper Galley Plug being cross threaded (& not installed fully). See pictures of cross threaded Galley plug and other properly threaded Galley plug. You can see where the Oil was running down from the cross threaded plug. We haven't noticed any oil drips so far... Something else to check. 3900 miles now

Great find and kudos to your dealer if this is an accurate diagnosis. I've seen too many transmission leaks and entire transmission replacements on this forum for this to not be figured out yet by Jeep's own team.

So that is on the Engine not the Transmission. Two different things. Congrats!
