Jeep Wrangler 392 Oil Filter

Hi,
I read a lot of the comments and bought the SRT filter 5038041AA
It fits but with little clearance
I chickened out and used the original one, part number ending 339 (that was was was in it)
There was no room for the filter wrench, maybe a business card would fit

The MO-899 fits well. It’s also readily available too at most local auto parts stores.

I found it harder to find the magic Pennzoil Ultra Platinum oil than the MO-899.

The Pennzoil Platinum is always available on Amazon, and pretty cheap there as well. I think I paid about $7/L when I ordered for my last oil change about a month and a half ago.

That does look pretty close, but I don't think the engine moves that much compared to that fixed frame part.

I believe we would use this oil filter since other 392 engine owners use this one as well, if anyone knows, please educate me then

My 23 uses the AB filter.thats what it came with and that’s what the dealer pulled up using the vin.I do not know what the difference is between them

The 899 is same size as 041

I ordered the 0-40 pennzoil srt full synthetic from Amazon free delivery 2$ cheaper than the dealer

I've installed 57899XP recently (the equivalent of MO-899). It fits no problem but I'm a bit concerned about its size and wheeling. Has anyone tried wheeling with a bigger filter? Nothing's gonna touch it at full flex?

There appears to be an AA version also. No clue what the differences are, cheaper so I would expect a lesser quality.

It seems like my new role is the warranty police. But I will let you know that the 392 explicitly calls for an oil change every 6 months or 6000 miles whatever comes first. That is pretty frequent. It uses the term “under no circumstances” which is a little over the top. But on my 5000 mile 392, I have changed the oil 5 times…. Oil looks the same coming out as the new stuff going in.

I believe manual says every 3000 for the Jeep 392..
All other than 392 are more miles per oil change .
I just did my 2nd oil and filter change 4024 miles 1925 miles on oil 69% left per gage. Brake in is also a longer period for 392 please see corrections . It is 6000miles. That’s about the same as our Honda which gets twice the mileage my point is the Jeep is burning a lot of fuel so oil should be changed more often.

You sir are correct . don’t know how I screwed that up. I still am ok with more frequent oil changes . Now after 4000 miles I might push it to 3000 miles per change.. our 05 Jeep would hardly ever see 3000 per year.

I have a first gen 392. Jeep must have altered the mounting position for later builds. I have plenty of clearance using the larger SRT filter. (I also have the aluminum oil pan.)

I looked at that pic also and scratched my head…. I have a ton of room for the 041 or 899. Wonder what changed? I have the very unique and highly sought after AL pan 4/2021 build 392…

My '21 had the aluminum pan... my 23 20a has the steel one... no issues with the 041, same spot as far as I can see.

So how may quarts are you putting in with the M0-041 filter? I just did my oil change. I also let it drain for 20mins. But it seems like 9qts fills it. I remember useing 9 last OC as well. Anyone else use that much?

You might want to double check your capacity.

You’re overfilled, 041 filter maybe holds an ounce our two more over the smaller factory filter.

Is that the small black factory filter? 04892339ba. The ba has changed different vender. 21 =7qrts my 23 with small black OEM filter 7.5 arts
