Deciding between 392 and the BRaptor

Great feedback, thank you. I honestly didn't realize that the 4xe wasn't a turbo, just a 4-banger with the extra electricity for launch torque with a limited range. I've already crossed it off the list, am pretty much considering the 6 versus the 8 at this point.
I'm one of the biggest 4xe detractors here 😏 but it definitely IS a turbo. The same 2.0t engine in my daughter's Cherokee Trailhawk (which is great) but that extra weight and complication from the useless 14 mile battery system just ruins it.

The Wrangler 4xe is equipped with a PHEV powertrain with 2.0L DOHC DI Turbo I4 engine...

Appreciate the clarification. Pretty much contemplating 6 vs 8 at this point. Total detour, but I changed the spark plugs on our '15 Rubicon over the weekend. WTF? Been wrenching on cars since I was 16, first time it's ever taken me 3 hours to change a set of spark plugs!!! Guessing (hoping) the 392 is much more straightforward, it certainly couldn't be worse.

If I were to buy a non-V8 Wrangler it would definitely be with the 2.0T (now that they got rid of the diesel). It's got slightly less HP but more TQ and is more efficient than the V6, the only drawback is it runs on premium. It does sound terrible though but the V6 really isn't much better. In the Cherokee, it's not even a close call as it's crappy 3.2 is neutered but compared to the 3.6 it's a little closer. IMO, though, the newer 2.0t is still a better engine than the aging V6.

It is a turbo, and the battery is 24 mile that adds significant low-end torque and IMO the weight improves the ride experience drastically. :sneaky:

Well, to close the loop on this...I ordered a 392.. The Granger discount was too hard to pass on versus retail on the Bronco even with the future 2k mile ride home from Iowa (which I actually look forward to). Family was sold on the Anvil color, which meant no option to choose the Sunrider top...which is only sort of a bummer. The lower cost made it easier to justify in my head, and I already own the aftermarket lift contraption (forget the name) for my current '15 that allows me to take the top off within 10 minutes or so. Not the same I know, esp the cool side window removal on the Sunrider, but I've heard mixed feedback on the increased noise levels and anything with a soft top eventually comes with some sort of issues down the road (this is what I tell myself anyway lol). Anywhoo, looking forward to updating from a rig that's been really good to us for many years now to the first (and certainly last ICE version) factory Wrangler beast! Thanks everyone for the input along the way, looking forward to posting in the future once we receive this bad boy!

Passed by a braptor today...... gave it a little trhottle just as the exhaust was in his face so he could be way jealous..... and I laughted and I laughed..

The v8 is just glorious. Had mine for 18 months and 26k miles and still love driving it every day. Just doesn’t get old. It is so brawny,r idiculous, in your face, over the top, useful, responsive, dominating, fun, and a pleasure to drive.
Can drive it anywhere and on the road it will beat just about anything in the stop light drags. Best daily driver I’ve ever owned.

Well, my favorite saying is "life is too short to drive boring cars"...but always appreciate those who actually drive them! After all that's what it's all about, glad to hear you're enjoying it!

Not sure this really belongs here but as I am in final stages of trying to negotiate price on a Braptor or a 392…

I thought the dealer had given me the price for the 392…only to then be surprised by wheel lock ($295) and tracking system ($1399) costs…

When I indicated I didn’t need/want those they replied it’s already on the vehicle and non-negotiable.

I don’t really care about $295 but is the tracking really considered non-negotiable? Is it a waste or actually something worthwhile?

The Uconnect has built in tackling with the app. I wouldn’t want any more. If I wanted to track it otherwise I’d probably just add something that cost a lot less than $1300.

I haven’t figured out if the 1300 is the uConnect, or something else?

It indicated 5yr - so, I assume it is some sort of prepaid subscription service

Why don’t you just order one from one of the many dealers in this community offering 7-8% below invoice, and not have to pay for options you don’t want?

Honestly, the red interior.

My wife has already weighed in on her perceived stupidity on that mandatory color interior - “dealbreaker”

Nothing beats the sound (and I believe fufillment) of the V8. I, as a few others, also have a Bronco (Badlands, not a Braptor) alongside the 392. I do love the Bronco for it's tech, large screen, comfortable ride, and yes, even it's looks. However, the 392 is just and all out beast, and still the "fun" one to drive, ...and take off road, although I do use another Jeep for that.

Mopar uses Katzkins in their custom shop. Quality is the same as if you ordered direct from Katzkin. They even have an option with red stitching to match.

Is katzkin the same as factory jeep?

Dashboard options also?

I don’t know what all they make for Mopar but they definitely have a presence in their custom shop, where 392s go for their winch, rock crawlers, and other features.

As for dash, the dashboard isn’t red. It’s gorgeous black leather with subtle red stitching.

Hmmmmm

So, then the only thing I prefer in the ‘23 vs ‘24 is the center vent layout…those ‘24 vents look really squeezed in below the larger display that it make me wonder if AC circulation is even worse in the new model…

I wish it was all integrated a little better
