1st Oil Change

Did my first oil change today at 1962 miles. Used Mopar 339 filter, 7.5 quarts ultra platinum 0W-40. First vehicle I have ever owned that would not allow draining of the filter and oil pan at the same time, on the 392 they are too far apart to fit in single pan. That filter up front sure does drip oil all over the steering components and steering stabilizer. I had the larger 899 Mopar filter on hand but decided the smaller, stock one, will be fine since I plan to change every 6 months and dont plan on anywhere 6000 miles in that time.

As of this posting, this site has them for $13.40 each. I got 3, enough for 1.5yrs since I follow the recommended time intervals instead of the miles.

On backorder, as is pretty common these days. These could be flipped to pay for student loans in case POTUS doesn't come through.

LOL- this link now shows them at over $100. I'm going to have to start putting my SRT filters in a safe.
🤣 supply & demand. They prob learned they were made in Ukraine.

Took them out to take this picture. Mine say Hecho en Polonia. Okay, back in the safety deposit box you go.

We lost a supplier in Ukraine and found a “suitable replacement” in Poland. The components they are making for us are failing miserably.
So now, we’re looking at locating and moving the Ukrainian resources to Poland to have them implement their processes. No luck so far. Poor chaps are likely in the fight.

Went to my local Jeep dealer today, the white SRT filter is back ordered until October. I was told not due to supply chain issue, but they are redesigning the SRT filter. The black 899 filter is what they use on 392 and hellcat currently. The motor oil in picture is also cheaper than Amazon. But the parts guy highly suggested not doing by myself even though it’s super easy. Their tech would take care of the oil change using these same parts.

The stock one is smaller as I just checked.

It should say on your invoice what they used so I’d double check that invoice they should have also rotated your tires, they probably did everything according to what they are trained to do for a 392 wrangler Jeep wave service.Enjoy that 392!

Attempted to make an appointment with my local dealer service today (first oil change) and they told me they did not have the OEM filter and did not know when they would get any in-stock, so no appointment. However, I contacted the parts department (same dealer), and asked if I could order the filter and oil in the hopes that they would get some in soon. The very helpful, nice parts lady put me on the wait-list for the OEM oil filter. She also mentioned that they had been using an alternate oil filter and apparently they have had no issues with it. The oil filter is a Magneti Marelli (offered by MOPAR) part #AML-006 or, long version, #1 AML 0000 6A - 001. I asked if I could take a look at one, and if I could take it to one of the service techs. Spoke to the service manager and the service tech, who apparently works exclusively on the 392 motors in all applications, and they both said the filter fits with no issues. I asked the tech if he had used one on a Jeep JL 392 and he said he had not...yet. He did reiterate that he has no issues on the Hellcat's in the Challengers and Chargers (6.4L). He also used it in the Trackhawk with 6.4L motor. Here's a pic:

I bought one ($9.21), but I wanted to hear from the group if anyone has used one of these.

It's really small...

There are three different Mopar oil filters that I know of for our 392's. The 339 that was installed at the factory, the 899 that is larger but works and the white SRT filter that is OOS everywhere. Did you ask which one they were attempting to order? Last time I was at Walmart they had the 899 and 339 but no one appears to have the SRT filter.

I picked up this AMSOIL EA011 Filter for my 18' Challenger 392. Haven't changed my oil yet, so I'd figure I'd save it for the Wrangler 392's first oil change instead. It's pretty beefy and seems well built. Not sure if it will fit the wrangler or not... dimensions are 3.626" wide overall, 2.75" o-ring OD, and about 3.5" tall.

The MO-339.

I have one of each on my shelf in the garage. Dealers please inquire. 399 has an ADM of $30k and 899 has an ADM of $25k. Or you can order one at MSRP…. With a $1000 deposit.
