I drove from Granger to Atlanta, followed break in to the T. Factory oil change at the dealer as specified. They determined the failure was due to the “Cam key bolt” was not properly tightened from factory.
That sucks! This is definitely a 2% club I don’t wanna be a part of. I waited too long on this baby to have it out of commission that long. But I did get the eight year 125,000 mile warranty. Just in case. LOL
On mine, something to do with the piston during assembly. I’ll know more soon. Followed break in procedure. I Don’t hammer on it either. Oil changed at 5 months and 1800 miles.
Got it back. Took about 45 days. One of the pistons had disintegrated. Brand new motor installed. Everything looks as it did before, far as I can tell the engine replacement looks perfect. Service did say they wanted pics of EVERYTHING , including the entire exhaust before they would green light the new motor.
Why would they want to see the entire exhaust? Does this imply they might deny the engine claim if it wasn't stock?
That’s my guess. However, service guy didn’t see (myself included) how they’d make a case for for exhaust work especially the back half of the exhaust. The exhaust valves failed which caused the piston to fail. Mine is bone stock.
