What Octane Do You Use?

I run mostly 93 , put 91 in it once didn't really notice a difference.

i run 90 octane ethanol free at sheetz in our area. seams to run great. i also get slightly higher mpg about .5 mpg over running 93 and seams to cost about the same. i just wish our gas tank was more like 27 gallon instead of 21. i also have not found a good solution to a bigger tank.

Premium only for Earl 392 . Yes 27 would be a great 400 mile range approximately

Octane to prevent detonation is a factor of air density and hence altitude. 87 octane at 8,000 feet where I'm at has the same anti detonation properties due to thinner air as 91 octane at sea level.

Ancient Thread, but I have similar thoughts. There are a number of options; ARB makes a underbody tank that ALLEGEDLY will fit under a 392, but… they don’t specifically catalog it, and it’s not cheap. but This APPEARS to be the most reasonable option; I would NOT keep fuel in it unless I was headed out into the boondocks.. https://titanfueltanks.com/4040487

That’s an additional 12 gallons - which should solve most range problems, IMHO. /cross fingers.

Took a little digging - found it. NOTE that it says it's only for the V6, but I read somewhere that it had been successfully installed into a 392. Not sure how much additional fabrication/hammering it took to make possible.

The person that installed it - mentioned the expense of both the tank, not to mention shipping to the US from AU, and then getting it in. If you REALLY want range... another 40 or 70 liters (10 or 17 gallons) would help.

Here's what I'm looking at for an AUX tank. It checks all the boxes for me, and comes with the exhaust modification parts. The only drawback is that it's definitely Chineseium. Oh, that and the price.

Normally if a vehicle requires higher octane it is listed. There is nothing at the fill or on the door, nothing on the visor, nothing on the dash by the fuel gauge.

Does anyone else have anything marked anywhere?

It’s in the manual. Yours may have not come with one neighbor got a 24 had to down load it my 23 came with one
